Chapter 188

(POV switch – Mira)

For the sake of this day, I had pushed myself over the past several days, entering the dungeon to raise my level. It was all to close, or rather, to narrow the gap that had only grown wider between myself and Kouta. Day after day, I ventured as far as the sixth floor shrouded in mist. Though I trembled with fear in that place where visibility was poor, I persevered.

I cannot even count how many times I wanted to send Kouta and Muze flying. They were so carefree. Even when they reached the sixth floor, they acted as if they had simply returned home.

Meanwhile, I am shaking in terror, feeling as if I have stepped into a demonic realm. How unfair is that?

While I was tense and wary of unfamiliar goblins and monsters, those two were joyfully plucking moss from the walls. On top of that, when Adelaide, frightened, clung to Kouta, he actually had a nosebleed.

Well, seeing that did calm everyone down. It seems that Adelaide has been afraid of my irritation, though.

In any case, we had prepared for this very day. Unusually, Kouta even provided us with an outline of the day’s schedule. All that remained now was to make our move.

As we warmed up, the area around us was packed with spectators, and their murmuring had swelled into a massive noise that filled the air. Just as I began to grow irritated at the ill-mannered onlookers, the noise suddenly began to fade away.

Puzzled, I looked around. Kouta stood there with his eyes closed, face lifted to the sky as though in prayer. The noise that had been so unbearable a moment ago vanished completely, and the surrounding atmosphere grew heavy with tension.

At that moment, Kouta opened his eyes. It was as if even the sound of his eyelids parting could be heard.

“The Dungeon Philharmony shall now commence its advance toward the front line!” (Kouta)

“Oh!” (All)

Though we had planned this beforehand, none of us had rehearsed. Yet our voices resonated in perfect harmony.

Drawn forward by Kouta, who walked ahead, I followed, step by step, into the dungeon.

Possession by the divine.

That was precisely what we were experiencing. A sensation like pain racing from the base of the skull through the entire body, a feeling almost akin to ecstasy, drove us onward.

Fujikawa Kouta.

Following that man, we began our march into the dungeon, bathed in the cheers of the crowd.
