Thank you for the chapter, as always. The story has slowed down a lot. I figure this is putting the pieces in place for later things but still, its slow. I hope it will pick back up when the war kicks up in earnest.

Also, my money is that the kiss on the hand has some significant meaning.

While his answer is certainly interesting, war is in human nature.
Let’s say you eliminate physical warfare. hooray.
You have achieved this in one of these 3 ways:
    – Humanity destroys all weaponry and somehow prevents more from being made.
    – Humanity’s weapons are so powerful that everybody has the capability to destroy the world and is too shit scared to be the one who initiates doomsday.
    – Humanity flees from each other.

Let’s just ignore that third one since land is a zero sum game (technically negative sum due to global warming but that’s beside the point), and you eventually run out of places to hide and are forced to choose between the first two options.
Ok, so you have chosen one of the first two options. Frankly, which one of them you chose or if you had some kind of mixture of the two doesn’t really matter since they lead to the same result.
Now that physical warfare has been eliminated, you have ideological and psychological warfare left. So, let’s explore how we can eliminate this kind of warfare:
    – All of the ideology and culture is merged together, and humanity acts as one.
    – Opposing ideologies must be eliminated.
    – Conflicting ideologies must stay seperate from each other.

The first one kills the concept of personality. It is, however, the most realistic option of the three. That doesn’t mean it’s easy though and its far too easy to deviate course and land on the second option regardless of your efforts.
The second one literally just leads back to physical warfare, so you fail in your goal to eliminate war on both accounts.
The third one delays the problem for later.

While there is a path to eliminating war, it comes at a very large cost that I’m not sure humanity is willing to pay.
