After finishing the preliminary inspection and preparation, Arc and his team were finally ready to open their store. The market here was a typical shopping street-style market with shops lined up on both sides of a large road. Although they had received permission for trade from the duke, securing a location was something they had to do themselves. As newcomers, Arc and his team were assigned a spot at the edge of the market, not in the central area where the busy foot traffic was.

While directing the merchants busy with preparing and arranging their products, Arc started to feel the tension of returning to business after a long time. On the other hand, he also felt a bit of excitement, as though he couldn’t wait for the gate to open.

“Hangue. Is it alright if I handle the first sale?” (Arc)

“Sure, but are you okay with that? You’ve been busy with the lord’s work for a while, so it’s been a long time since you’ve done business.” (Hangue)

The merchants of the Warden Trading Company were proactive, not passive. They engagde in business by raising their voices and gathering customers. As this was the official entry of the Warden Trading Company into the Kali Kingdom, Arc was to be the first seller.

“It’s been six years. I wonder if my voice will still work.” (Arc)

“Well, if anything happens, I can always take over for you.” (Hangue)

“Thanks.” (Arc)

Arc, a little nervous, took a sip of water.

“Gate open—!” (Official)

It was time. As the official’s voice echoed and the bell signaling the time rang out, the gate slowly opened. The waiting customers poured in. Adventurers, soldiers, and many people dressed as housewives were among the crowd. Though it was early in the morning, there was quite a large number of people.

Normally, customers rush to the central area where the popular shops are lined up, but at the moment the market opens, the shops at the edges actually have an advantage. That was because the customers waiting for the opening are already gathered there. The moment right after the gate opens is the first and last chance to capture a large number of customers.

Arc took a deep breath.

“Welcome! Welcome! Warden Trading Company has brought fine weapons all the way from the Laplace Kingdom!” (Arc)

At Arc’s loud voice, the customers who were heading toward the central shops stopped in their tracks.

“Oh, a new weapon shop?” (Customer)

The crowd’s attention turned to the group of merchants they weren’t familiar with. Seizing the moment, Arc quickly pressed on.

“Come, come! From adventurers to cooks, gatekeepers to soldiers, and even knights! How about the Laplace sword? This high-purity iron sword is made from the finest iron ore from the Mikanda region. With this sword, you can easily cut through anything, from dismantling monsters as an adventurer, to preparing food as a cook, to cutting down criminals, beasts, and enemy soldiers.

This is a story from Laplace. A young boy was given this sword. He was attacked by bandits on his way back. The bandits approached the frightened boy with their swords! But when he blocked with his sword, something strange happened. The bandit’s sword was cut in half in no time! Yes. This sword cuts through anything, even swords!” (Arc)

Despite his nervousness at speaking publicly after a long break, Arc managed to say it all without stumbling. Not too fast, not too slow, and speaking clearly, trying to keep a rhythm in his words. His skill as a merchant was still very much intact.

“Hey, kid, you’re good at talking!” (Customer)

The crowd didn’t seem to be focused on the product itself, but rather on Arc’s storytelling, and applause rang out. The excitement attracted more and more customers.

“There’s still more you don’t know! You think this sword is just talk, don’t you? Well then, let me show you!” (Arc)

Arc took out a wooden board.

“This is a dagger being sold at another shop in the market. Yes, a shop on the opposite side over there. Let me show you how this sword cuts!” (Arc)

Arc set the wooden board on the ground and swung the sword down.

*Zzzt*

With a slight noise, the sword embedded into the wood.

“Can you see? This sword only scraped off three layers of wood grain.” (Arc)

Arc pulled the sword out of the board and showed the audience the damage.

“Oops, looks like the sword is already chipped. After just one hit on the wooden board!” (Arc)

Arc displayed the chipped sword, but the crowd didn’t seem particularly surprised. For them, a sword that chips after such a small cut wasn’t that unusual.

“Well, swords and wooden boards don’t really go well together.” (Customer)

Someone murmured.

Arc then reached into the display shelf and slowly drew out a sword.

“Now, let me show you with my sword.” (Arc)

He swung the sword down onto the same wooden board.

*Crack! Crack! Crack!*

The wood cried out as it split in two.

“Wow~” (Crowd)

The crowd couldn’t help but cheer.

“Now, compare the damage on both swords. This one is several times sharper!” (Arc)

Arc raised both boards, showing the difference between the two swords.

“And even more!” (Arc)

As he continued, he drew out the sword again. Arc’s sword still gleamed with a beautiful shine.

“See, no chipping at all. This sword is highly durable. That’s because the iron purity is different!” (Arc)

“Wow~” (Crowd)

The crowd marveled in awe again.

“Adventurers, have you ever experienced your sword dulling after cutting through bushes? Cooks, have you had your sword dull after cutting through meat covered in blood? Soldiers, no need to say more. You all visit the weapon shop every week to buy new swords, but after only a few uses, they break again.

You skip alcohol. You skip meat. The money you save all goes into buying new swords! But with this sword, no more of that trouble. It’s durable too.” (Arc)

Arc had completely taken control of the atmosphere.

Seeing that customers weren’t arriving quickly, the shop owners in the central area began to come over to see what was happening.

“Now, we’ve brought this sword all the way from the neighboring Laplace Kingdom. Made from the finest materials, crafted by the best blacksmiths, and sold by the best merchants. This sword is fit to be presented to the King without shame. But! Today, we’re starting business here in the Kali Kingdom. This is our greeting to the locals.” (Arc)

Arc slammed the table dramatically.

“This sword is five silver coins for one. 10 silver coins for two. But if you buy three, it’s only 13 silver coins. What do you think?!” (Arc)

“I’ll take three!” (Merchant)

A loud voice rang out from the crowd. It was a merchant from the Warden Trading Company who had been posing as a customer. His voice triggered the crowd to start getting excited.

“I’ll buy two!” (Customer)

“I’ll take three!” (Customer)

“Three, please!” (Customer)

The onlookers who had been enjoying Arc’s performance now opened their wallets as they saw others making purchases.

“Alright. Anyone who wants to buy, line up here!” (Hangue)

Hangue and the other merchants immediately started organizing the line.

“This isn’t all we have. We’ve got long swords, short swords, bows, arrows, and even horse gear! Please, feel free to buy!” (Hangue)

The merchants were overwhelmed with orders. Thus, the first day ended in success, with everything sold out in just two hours.
