End of the Year, in the Military Building

“Come on, Lux. Relax your shoulders and leave everything to me.” (Lamie)

“Wait, Lamie-senpai, this is bad!” (Lux)

“Heh, there’s nothing bad about it. Just take off your jacket.” (Lamie)

“Please stop! Lamie-senpai! Don’t touch me in strange places!” (Lux)

The conversation leaked from the room of the circle leader in the military building. I, Hills Bianca, might have come across a terrible scene.

What on earth is going on in the room just across the door? But is it really okay to continue eavesdropping? No, no. Even though it’s a military academy, it’s still a school. Besides, Lamie-onee-san has, though I dislike it, an engagement to Saras-senpai. Even though I dislike it, Lamie-onee-san must not go down the wrong path. I dislike Saras-senpai, but still.

Bianca took a deep breath, bracing herself, and then…

“What are you doing?!” (Bianca)

She opened the door roughly with a loud bang! Inside the room were…

Lamie-onee-san holding scissors, Lux, who had his jacket removed and was sitting in just a shirt, looking confused, and Saras-senpai, who was grinning while watching. In the middle of it all, Lamie-senpai swiftly moved the scissors.

“What do you mean… it’s Lux’s haircut?” (Lamie)

I wanted to die from the embarrassment.

“A haircut? No… What are you really doing?” (Bianca)

Bianca, somehow blushing, asked again, but Lamie-senpai had already decided she didn’t need to explain, and Saras-senpai had completely settled into enjoying the situation with no intention of explaining.

Saras-senpai really is a piece of work.

I, Lux, sighed quietly, realizing there was no choice, and began explaining the situation to Bianca.

“I came to give my New Year’s greeting, but Lamie-senpai saw my long hair and insisted on cutting it…” (Lux)

Yes, today, just before the end of term, I came to visit Lamie-senpai and Saras-senpai to give my New Year’s greetings. As usual, they welcomed me, and as usual, Saras-senpai made tea for me.

The time started peacefully. I greeted them and they replied. We were having a random conversation about whether we were going back home or not. Then, suddenly, Lamie-senpai said…

“Lux, your hair has grown a lot.” (Lamie)

It’s true that I’ve been busy recently with the last of Seven Mysteries and the second semester of interclass competition, so I’ve been putting it off again.

“Yeah.” (Lux)

I replied casually, and suddenly Lamie-senpai looked at me seriously.

“By the way, Lux, I feel like I’ve been looking out for you a lot this year.” (Lamie)

Well, Lamie-senpai had taken care of me in many ways. That’s why I came to greet her… but, thinking about it again, I feel like I’ve helped her quite a bit, but… no, no, I was helped a lot.

“…I appreciate that.” (Lux)

“Of course. So, I’d like to get a visible way to thank you.” (Lamie)

…? Does she want something? I’ve managed to save up a little, so I can probably buy something within my budget, something that won’t affect the money for my little sister Noris’s tuition next year.

“Well, if you want something, I’ll give it to you, but I can’t buy anything too expensive.” (Lux)

“…Let me cut your hair.” (Lamie)

“Yes?” (Lux)

“…I said, let me cut your hair.” (Lamie)

“…Yes?” (Lux)

Why do the women around me always want to cut my hair? According to Lamie-senpai, my long silver hair, which has no curls, reminds her of the dolls she played with as a child, so she wants to cut it. Also, since it’s long, even if she messes up, it can be fixed, and she assumes I won’t get too angry about it.

“In other words, it’s like continuing childhood doll play.” (Lamie)

When she said it like that, it almost made me feel better about it. So, in front of Saras-senpai, who was enjoying the situation, I found myself getting a haircut, which already didn’t make much sense. Then, Bianca barged in, and things became chaotic.

After hearing my explanation, Bianca sighed deeply.

“That’s confusing.” (Bianca)

She then pulled up a nearby chair.

“Sorry for interrupting. Please continue.” (Bianca)

What? I’m getting my hair cut with two people watching me? What kind of situation is this?

After a while, the only sound in the room was the snip-snip of the scissors. Saras-senpai, who was starting to get a little bored, spoke up for the first time in a while.

“Still, I never thought a first-year like Lux would be so liked by Lamie. Lamie, what do you like about Lux?” (Saras)

Lamie, while snipping with the scissors, answered.

“I don’t know.” (Lamie)

That’s it?

It seemed everyone else thought the same thing.

“Don’t know…?” (Saras)

“Well, if I had to say, it’s just a feeling. It’s similar to how I felt the first time I saw you, Saras.” (Lamie)

When she said that, even Saras-senpai seemed at a loss for words.

Alright, alright. Good for you.

As I quietly sat there, thinking of Sonia’s face, Lamie-senpai suddenly said.

“Hmm? Lux, you’ve changed. Did you find someone special?” (Lamie)

“Lux has a girlfriend!? Who is it?” (Bianca)

“Huh? Bianca, do you have feelings for Lux?” (Lamie)

At Lamie-senpai’s words, Bianca got a bit defensive.

“No, not at all. Lux is a wall I need to surpass, a rival.” (Bianca)

“Then who is it, Lux? Who is it?” (Bianca)

And so, the year-end in the Military Building passed in a noisy way.

*Today’s Diary*

When I told Sonia that Lamie-senpai cut my hair, she got upset.

Hmm.
