Casablanca’s Judgment

“That’s enough!” (??)

A voice so loud that it seemed to swallow the sounds of battle and the raging fire from the hut echoed across the battlefield, causing both the Church and Warden army to instinctively stop fighting. All eyes turned toward one point.

“Who is it?” (??)

As if responding to the soldier’s voice, the flag was raised. Though it was the middle of the night, the flag was clearly visible due to the fire in the hut. It bore the royal crest.

“Casablanca-sama.” (Arc)

Arc murmured.

Given the numbers, it was probably Casablanca and the personal guard known as the Casablanca Seven.

Why had they shown up here?

It was completely unexpected. The Warden forces stood frozen with their swords drawn, unable to do anything but stare in confusion. Casablanca, who was surrounded by her Casablanca Seven for protection, slowly urged her horse forward. At that moment, a voice from the fleeing Cyan could be heard.

“Just in time, Your Highness! These people have dared to defy the Church! As servants of the King, you must subdue them.” (Cyan)

Reacting to this, Casablanca spoke briefly to one of her Seven. One of them dismounted and hurried toward Cyan…

And slapped him across the face.

“What… what are you doing?! I am the High Priest!” (Cyan)

He probably never dreamed he’d be hit by the Viceroy’s guards. Cyan was blown to the ground and couldn’t hide his shock. The holy knights rushed to his aid, but the Casablanca Seven held them off with a glare. Then, turning to Cyan, who was crouching on the ground, she opened the document and began reading it out loud, loud enough for the whole battlefield to hear.

“Ah. By the order of Casablanca-sama, I hereby arrest High Priest Cyan for treason. I, Fran, the First Unit of the Casablanca Guard, will now read the charges against Cyan.” (Fran)

Though it was difficult to see, it appeared that Fran, one of the Seven and Casablanca’s right hand, was the one who had taken action. The Church side was in utter disbelief and panic spreading at the mention of Cyan’s arrest, but Fran continued reading without concern.

“First, arresting Princess Marie, who is of royal blood, without authorization.
Second, failing to conduct a fair trial for her.
Third, attempting to burn her at the stake without the royal family’s consent.
Fourth, acting beyond the bounds allowed by the Heretic Extermination Order.
Fifth, the murder of Count Shinri’s followers.
Sixth, the assault on Count Shinri’s followers.
Seventh, the robbery of Count Shinri’s followers.
Eighth, failing to report to the King about the property seized from heretics.
Ninth, threatening neighboring nobles.
Tenth, conspiring to overthrow the kingdom.

For these ten charges, I hereby arrest you.” (Fran)

By the time Fran finished reading the arrest warrant, the battlefield was quiet. The Church side was shocked and silent. The Wardens were also unable to keep up with the rapid developments, and even Arc was confused. After reading the arrest warrant, Fran reached out to tie up Cyan without any consideration, but Cyan comes to his senses and forcefully swipes Fran’s hand away in a rage.

“Don’t touch me! You insolent fool! Do you know who I am? I am the High Priest, the King of five million holy followers! You dare to arrest me?! That’s impossible.” (Cyan)

In response to Cyan’s furious outburst, Casablanca remained on her horse, barely even acknowledging him as she calmly replied with a hint of mockery.

“Alright, alright. Save your excuses for the prison interrogation, old man.” (Casablanca)

“Casablanca, you… you dare—! I will excommunicate you! And anyone who touched me, excommunicated as well!” (Cyan)

Still furious, Cyan didn’t stop there. His anger turned to the Holy Knights, who could only watch in shock.

“You lot! Don’t just stand there! Help me! Subdue Casablanca, now!” (Cyan)

“Should anyone lay a hand on Casablanca-sama!!!” (Fran)

Fran’s loud voice rang out, overlapping with Cyan’s yelling. It was a gruff voice that didn’t sound like a woman’s at all.

“Anyone who does so will share Cyan’s guilt.” (Fran)

Fran exuded an aura of death, as if she could slay anyone who even moved a step toward Cyan. No one could move in the face of his fierce spirit.

“Now, High Priest. Shall we head back to the capital?” (Casablanca)

Casablanca dismounted and reached for Cyan’s clothes.

“Don’t touch me with those filthy hands!” (Cyan)

Just like he had done to Fran earlier, Cyan slapped Casablanca’s hand away. The moment his hand grazed her, Casablanca exaggeratedly staggered back.

The Casablanca Seven rushed to support her as she was helped back to her feet. With a look as though she had just been violently assaulted, Casablanca pointed at Cyan and hysterically condemned him.

“How dare you! How dare you! How dare you!!! You’ve gone too far now. Guards, I declare that the High Priest has lost his mind! Due to his violent resistance, I ‘reluctantly’ permit the use of force.” (Casablanca)

Before Casablanca even finished granting permission for force, one of her guards, Jeanne, the second unit, leapt at Cyan.

“Ugh!” (Cyan)

Cyan, now in Jeanne’s grasp, spat out blood. Looking closely, it became clear that Jeanne’s sword had pierced his body.

Was ‘force’ referring to killing him?

“You scum. This is how your story ends.” (Jeanne)

Jeanne pulled her sword from Cyan’s body, and he collapsed without a sound, dead in an instant. The once-mighty High Priest, at the pinnacle of the Church, had fallen in this manner. No one could have predicted such an end. Jeanne, facing the group, was drenched in Cyan’s blood.

“Second Unit Jeanne, for slaying the source of so much death and turning the land to ash—!” (Fran)

“Jeanne, stop with the ad-libs! Stick to the script I told you!” (Fran)

Fran, now hurriedly admonishing Jeanne, seemed to be urging her to follow the prepared speech.

“Alright, alright. Um, Cyan resisted fiercely, and with the threat to the royal family’s life, we ‘reluctantly’ had to use force.” (Jeanne)

Jeanne said this in a flat, uninterested tone, as if bored with the entire ordeal.

Had this script been prepared by Casablanca? She had not let this opportunity slip by. With Zenon gone, and the chaos caused by the out-of-control old man Cyan, she had seized the moment to strike. She had come to take the head of the Church, which once no one dared defy.

Since when had this been her plan? What is she going to do next?

These were questions that Arc couldn’t begin to answer as he stood trembling, completely caught off guard by the unfolding events.

The church soldiers could only watch this series of events as if they were paralyzed, unable to do anything. Fran walked over to them and efficiently explained what was going to happen.

“Well done, Jeanne. Now, as for the Holy Knights and Church soldiers, you are hereby dismissed. Go back to your respective towns. Oh, and make sure to tell your friends who are terrorizing other towns and villages: If all units do not cease operations within three days, I will issue a hunting order to the nearby nobles. Now, get lost!” (Fran)

“Ughhh, High Priest Cyan!!! Ahhh! This devil…!” (Mother)

A woman, who appeared to be the leader of the Sisters, known as “Mother,” rushed toward Fran, clearly out of her mind with grief and rage. But before she could even get close, Fran swiftly cut her down with one strike.

“To strike at me is the same as striking at Casablanca-sama. She was executed without trial for high treason.” (Fran)

Fran muttered to herself as she continued speaking to the remaining Church soldiers.

“Now, unless you all want to end up like this woman, I suggest you do as I said. Go back to your hometowns and disperse. Got it?” (Fran)

The soldiers were stunned for a while, but after a while they ran away as if they wanted to get away from the scene as quickly as possible.
