The morning after meeting with Alexandra, I sat in bed while staring at the ceiling and thinking deeply.

In this game world called “Engage Hazard”, the romantic comedy parts with the heroines are in a chat format, while the main scenario and battle parts proceed in a one-way RPG format using card battles. In other words, if you get involved in the game’s scenario, you’ll inevitably face battle scenes.

The enemies differ depending on the heroine, sometimes being bandits or assassin groups, other times nations or armies, legendary beasts, or heroes, among many others. First, in “Enhaz,” each character has fixed skills and attributes. The only exception is the protagonist Wilfred, who can be customized with any attributes and skills based on the player’s preferences and strategies. Additionally, equipping weapon cards boosts attack and defense and allows the use of special skills set on the weapon cards. Of course, the rarity of the weapon card and whether it matches the character’s attribute also affect the increase in abilities, so be careful about that.

However…

“To begin with, male characters don’t appear as cards.” (Harold)

It’s important to remember that “EnHaz” is a chat-based romance mobile RPG. There’s no demand for male characters from the start.  Even if you stretch the point, a cross-dressing character might have a chance, but unfortunately, this game doesn’t have any cross-dressing heroines implemented.

“There are several battles between the protagonist and Harold, and Harold’s stats are officially released at each event, but…” (Harold)

That’s right. Harold, being less than a minor character, isn’t strong… No, this evaluation is a bit misleading. His stat settings are so absurd that he’s ridiculously difficult to handle. Apparently, the developers had so little interest in Harold that they set his abilities haphazardly. Naturally, it is to make Harold weak.

While all the royal family members, starting with Cardis and Raphael, have light attributes, only I have a dark attribute. My magical attack and defense stats are extremely high, but my unique skills are all light attribute physical attacks. What am I supposed to do?

What about physical stats, you ask? Both attack and defense are the lowest among all named characters, and the defense is especially paper-thin. However, my SP (skill points) is maxed out at 999, the highest among all characters, even at level one. But as mentioned earlier, sadly, all my skills are light attribute. Harold, who can’t use any skills and can only perform normal attacks, never depletes his SP bar even by a millimeter.

No, the developers have played around too much with Harold, haven’t they? Isn’t he basically stuck? I told Alexandra to “wait for three years,” but isn’t this a guaranteed bad end at this point?

“No, no, no, no! I’ll manage somehow!” (Harold)

I know everything about “Enhaz”. Matching the protagonist is impossible,  but even if it’s Harold, I can make him at least somewhat strong. Moreover, despite Harold’s messed-up abilities, his magical attack and defense are comparable to Raphael’s, and his SP is the highest among all characters. I believe his potential is more than enough. The rest depends on how I grow myself.

“And also, what to do about weapons. Harold’s exclusive weapon, the ‘Scythe of the Reaper’, is useless.” (Harold)

Despite being called the ‘Scythe of the Reaper’, Harold’s weapon is sadly light attribute instead of dark. No matter how much I train, this is not enough. But in “Enhaz”, there are more weapon cards than there are main characters and heroines, and the protagonist and heroines can freely choose and use weapons. So, I should be able to choose weapons freely too. I just hope the typical ‘forced rules’ of game reincarnations don’t apply here.

“Well, I need to check that out too.” (Harold)

Anyway, I have three more years until the main story starts. I need to do everything I can by then. So, when the main story begins, Alexandra and I can continue to live our lives without any connection to the game. To begin with, I’m not interested in the succession dispute for the throne at all. Of course, once the main story starts, I don’t know what will happen. I should be ready for anything.

“Now that that’s decided, I need to get up and find a weapon.” (Harold)

If this world is the same as “Enhaz”, there should be SSR, or even the highest rank UR (Ultra Rare) weapons. In the game, you could get them through paid gacha, but since gacha doesn’t exist in reality, I’ll have to find them myself.

“My name is Marion Shearer. I have been assigned to take care of Prince Harold starting today.” (Marion)
