Chapter 198

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

(POV switch – Mira)

“…I have found the stairs leading to the eighth floor.” (Kouta)

At Kouta’s words, we could not hide our astonishment.

Adelaide pressed both hands against her mouth, while Emilia and Haruka gaped in surprise. As a lady, I managed at least to keep my mouth closed.

“Truly remarkable, Kouta…” (Muze)

Muze’s whisper was filled with an indescribable mixture of exasperation and awe. From countless words, she had finally managed to utter these few, and they fully expressed our own thoughts.

“Just for a brief moment, let us film the eighth floor and return.” (Kouta)

How many times had it been today?

We trembled, feeling fear welling from the depths of our hearts. The threat was incomparable to even the crows or Adelaide. It was this monster, smiling innocently before our eyes, that posed the true danger.

I proposed streaming live, aware of the possibility of death. At least this way, it would be known that we had challenged the summit of the world, rather than simply going missing. Footprints would be left behind. If we broadcast, Japan’s Self-Defense Forces would provide spare relay devices. Beyond that, my memory grows vague.

We entered the eighth floor, fighting desperately against monsters stronger than the green Oni. Before I knew it, I found myself on the fifth floor, looking up at the sky and collapsing to the ground.

(POV switch – Kouta)

I complied with Mira’s request to broadcast live and informed the guild of our intention to enter the eighth floor, but the guild intervened. They said that spare relay equipment would be sent immediately, and we should wait.

Even though I had said the footage could be streamed later, the guild or rather, perhaps the nation judged that there was value in broadcasting live. Without considering our burden, they absurdly demanded that we wait on the seventh floor.

As leader, I initially refused for the safety of my party members. However, I accepted Mira and Haruka’s suggestion to wait for the arrival of the Self-Defense Forces. The problem was how much MP we could conserve during this waiting time.

I decided to play one card to protect everyone. From my waist, I drew the ‘Kusanagi Sword’, normally unused.
