Doctor’s Daughter, Kate

“So many people are coming, piyo.” (Dia)

“They keep coming without end. Are you all right, then?” (Marcosias)

Marcosias gently patted Dia beside her with a soft pom-pom sound. Dia puffed herself up with determination.

“I am fine, piyo. Let them come, piyo.” (Dia)

Lying on her stomach, Dia kicked her legs excitedly.

“Still, Kaa-sama might be the one having a harder time, piyo.” (Dia)

“Yes, I noticed that.” (Marcosias)

A crowd constantly surrounded Stella. While Dia and Marcosias served as guides, Stella’s work went far beyond simple guidance.

“Yes, here is your autograph. Yes, it is nice to meet you.” (Stella)

Her skill allowed her to handle everything efficiently. Signing on high-quality paper and shaking hands, she was treated as though she were a celebrity.

“Mother, you are popular even here.” (Marcosias)

“It seems so, piyo. Nana, do you know why, piyo?” (Dia)

“She has been active in many fields. Her name is famous even beyond Zanzas.” (Nana)

“Now that you mention it, her name remained as that of Steven-san.” (Marcosias)

Marcosias recalled the events of the previous village.

“It is true that Stella’s main achievements were in Zanzas. No adventurer explored and established strategies for that region as thoroughly as she did. However, it seems she also defeated various monsters before she ever reached Zanzas.” (Nana)

“Kaa-sama never runs away, piyo.” (Dia)

“That is right. There were monsters that would normally require an entire knight order to subdue, yet she defeated them in an instant.” (Nana)

“She probably would take them down just as quickly as she did the Ice Crystal.” (Marcosias)

“Indeed. She never ceases to amaze me.” (Nana)

Together, they continued to handle the steady stream of guests. No one stayed to monopolize Stella for too long. They were all respectable adults.

After a while, the crowd finally thinned. It was nearly noon.

“Oh.” (Stella)

Stella let out a small sound of surprise.

“It seems lively here.” (Victor)

Doctor Cocka appeared suddenly in his costume.

No one yet knew that the person inside was Elt’s elder brother, Victor.

“Thanks to everyone’s support.” (Stella)

“Welcome.” (Marcosias)

“Piyo, welcome, piyo.” (Dia)

Victor nodded as he looked around their booth.

“I personally like these floral ornaments. They are simply beautiful.” (Victor)

“I am glad to hear that.” (Stella)

“Art is wonderful. I am not suited for creation myself, however.” (Victor)

Then, Victor’s gaze fell upon the basket where Dia and Marcosias lay.

“Piyo?” (Dia)

“By the way, have you two looked around the rest of the art festival?” (Victor)

“Not yet, piyo.” (Dia)

“We were busy preparing, so we have not seen anything else.” (Marcosias)

“Indeed, I would like to walk around too.” (Stella)

“Same here. I have not looked around either.” (Nana)

Victor folded his arms thoughtfully.

“This is a joint exhibition with Zanzas, is it not? It might be a good idea to leave the booth to someone else for a while and have a look around.” (Victor)

“That makes sense.” (Marcosias)

“As a small token of gratitude for the Ice Crystal subjugation, I will serve as your guide.” (Victor)

“Really, piyo?” (Dia)

Dia’s eyes sparkled. The Doctor Cocka before her seemed to radiate an aura of intelligence.

“That would be wonderful, but are you sure?” (Stella)

“Of course. Think nothing of it.” (Victor)

As Victor turned his gaze toward the entrance, a smaller cockatrice costume appeared quietly. At a glance, Stella sensed that it was an exceptionally well-made suit. The height was just a little taller than Audrey’s. From that, Stella deduced that the person inside was likely a child.

“Tou-san, is this the place?” (Kate)

“Yes, that is right. Allow me to introduce her. This is my daughter, Kate. The vampire blood runs strong in her, and she is sensitive to sunlight.” (Victor)

“It is a pleasure to meet you.” (Kate)

Kate bowed politely. Her voice was soft yet clear.

“Thank you for coming. I am Stella from Healberry Village.” (Stella)

“I am Dia, piyo.” (Dia)

“I am Maru-chan.” (Marcosias)

“I am the adventurer Nana. Nice to meet you.” (Nana)

“Nice to meet you.” (Kate)

Kate slowly approached Dia and Marcosias. She stood silently, the head of her costume facing the basket.

“You really are talking.” (Kate)

“Piyo. Of course, I am talking, piyo.” (Dia)

“I can understand Dia-chan talking, but why can Maru-chan speak?” (Kate)

Kate stared intently at Marcosias from within her costume.

“Because I am Maru-chan, that is why I can talk.” (Marcosias)

“That answer is both correct and not at the same time.” (Kate)

Still staring, Kate was gently lifted aside by Victor.

“Ah, Tou-san?” (Kate)

“Do not press too much. You will frighten them.” (Victor)

“You are right. I am sorry.” (Kate)

Kate bowed her head. Marcosias waved her paw softly.

“Think nothing of it. I welcome your curiosity about me.” (Marcosias)

“As expected of Maru-chan, piyo.” (Dia)

Stella murmured in admiration.

“What a strong heart.” (Stella)

“Thank you. I will take a closer look later.” (Kate)

Kate’s tone brightened slightly.

“Well then, I will guide everyone as part of my daughter’s study.” (Victor)

“I see.” (Stella)

It was, in truth, partly a convenient excuse. However, Doctor Cocka’s knowledge was already proven in Monthly Piyo. It would surely benefit the daughters’ education.

“I will stay here for now. Since I am a local, I am familiar with most of the exhibits. You should go ahead.” (Nana)

“Understood.” (Stella)

At Nana’s words, Stella nodded.

“Then, please lead the way, Doctor Cocka.” (Stella)

Victor, also known as Doctor Cocka, returned the nod.

“Very well. Leave it to me.” (Victor)
