The Art Festival Begins!

Meanwhile, at the Grand Cathedral.

Stella and the other exhibitors waited in their respective spaces for the guests to arrive.

“I am starting to feel nervous.” (Stella)

Dressed in an elegant black lady’s gown, Stella murmured softly.

“You looked so composed a moment ago.” (Nana)

“Piyo. You looked radiant, piyo.” (Dia)

Marcosias and Dia stood upon a special pedestal. A fluffy mat was laid within their basket, allowing them to serve guests in comfort. The platform was mounted on sturdy wheels and could be moved by pushing. It was one of Nana’s creations, which she had secretly named the “Mascot Stand” in her heart. Dia and Marcosias lay on their stomachs upon the soft mat, ready to nap whenever they grew tired.

“Even so, I cannot help but feel a little nervous.” (Stella)

At her words, Nana nodded thoughtfully.

“I can understand that. Speaking before a crowd and talking face to face are quite different things.” (Nana)

“Yes, that is exactly how it feels.” (Stella)

From near the cathedral’s entrance came the sound of movement.

“It seems the guests are about to be let in.” (Nana)

“We are fully prepared.” (Marcosias)

“We will be your guides, piyo.” (Dia)

Marcosias and Dia gave a spirited thumbs-up.

Nana could not help but feel a bit uneasy, though she knew that the pair’s memory was remarkably reliable.

“Stella and I will stand at the front. You two handle support.” (Nana)

“Leave it to us.” (Marcosias)

“We will do our best, piyo.” (Dia)

The two were full of enthusiasm.

Soon, the entrance grew lively and noisy. Outside, the snowfall had ceased, and the pure white world was now bathed in sunlight.

At last, the art festival had truly begun.

“Welcome, welcome, piyo.” (Dia)

Dia flapped her wings with a soft pom-pom sound.

“Here we are showing the newest specialty of Healberry Village, ahead of everyone else.” (Marcosias)

“Piyo.” (Dia)

A burly Dwarf man who had come as a guest stroked his long white beard as he spoke.

“We were guided here from the other hall. What is this place?” (Dwarf)

“This is the House of Fun, piyo.” (Dia)

Dia showed no fear.

Though the Dwarf exuded an imposing presence, his mana was far weaker than that of her mother, Stella, or her father, Elt. Even if this Dwarf happened to be a count from some mountain kingdom, she would not have cared.

“Oh, interesting. The other hall displayed floral ornaments, but these appear to be goods for sale?” (Dwarf)

“That is our intention eventually.” (Marcosias)

Marcosias, too, was unfazed. Compared with the thousand-year darkness that sometimes gleamed in Tetetoka’s eyes, this was nothing, though she wisely kept that thought to herself. The one feeling anxious was, in fact, Nana. She was primarily in charge of the vampire in the piyo costume who assisted with guest service.

“This is quite a sophisticated piece of craftsmanship. I can tell even from a distance. It looks rather expensive.” (Dwarf)

“We intend to keep it affordable.” (Marcosias)

“Hmm, within reason, I hope. And these are clothes, yes? The fabric and design seem rather unusual.” (Dwarf)

“It is a uniform, piyo. Light and easy to move in, piyo.” (Dia)

“I see. There is no excessive ornamentation. It looks suitable for relaxing at home.” (Dwarf)

“It is also good for exercise.” (Marcosias)

“Exercise? Ah, I understand. The sleeves allow for free movement, and there is no risk of getting caught on anything.” (Dwarf)

Beside the satisfied dwarf count, Stella was responding to another guest while looking a little dizzy from all the attention.

“U-um, thank you for waiting for my autograph.” (Stella)

Her hand trembled slightly as she wrote her graceful signature on a card decorated with gold dust.

Then, a Dwarven noblewoman handed her a worn little booklet.

“This looks rather valuable, does it not?” (Stella)

“It is the script for a play about the hero Stella. It is only fifty years old, so it is nothing of great importance. Please, sign it quickly.” (Dwarven Noblewoman)

“Is that truly alright?” (Stella)

“It only cost about 50 gold coins. Your signature will make it far more precious.” (Dwarven Noblewoman)

“I-I understand.” (Stella)

She suspected that her signature might lower the value instead, but in truth, it was the opposite. Authentic signatures from Stella were extremely rare, and the additional worth was significant.

Surrounded by admirers, Stella continued signing nonstop. Thanks to that, Dia and Marcosias were able to serve guests at a more relaxed pace. Even after the Dwarf count departed, more visitors came, drawn by curiosity toward their products.

The two worked hard to guide each one.

“Piyo, welcome, piyo. The uniforms are over here, piyo.” (Dia)

“And the flower ornaments are over there.” (Marcosias)
