New Residence

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

This is the area. Papas Street, 3rd Block. It is about a fifteen-minute walk west from my boarding house. It is not that far.

Huh. Adele has reacted to the complex magic art detection. The direction is slightly to the front right and quite close. Could it be there?

Within the roofed entrance, there was a sturdy iron lattice door, and beyond it, Adele was standing.

“Welcome. Did you find it immediately?” (Adele)

“Yes. Well, more or less.” (Leon)

The lattice door creaked as it opened toward me.

Ah, a magical lock. It could be opened from the other side without a key.

After taking a few steps inside, a person who seemed to be the caretaker was observing me through the glass on the left.

“They stay there until six in the evening. Ah, wait there a moment.” (Adele)

What could that be?

Adele went into a small room on the right and soon returned. In the distance, a bell could be heard. It was three in the afternoon.

“I will carry the heavier one.” (Adele)

She was holding a large cloth bag and a rattan basket.

“Thank you. Then, this way.” (Adele)

She handed me the basket.

“By the way…” (Leon)

“The luggage? That one is groceries, and this one is the clothes that were sent for washing.” (Adele)

“I see.” (Leon)

“I will explain later, but there is an automatic receiving box locker there where they are delivered. Let us go to the room.” (Adele)

We went up to the third floor by the stairs. She inserted a key into the keyhole of a sturdy-looking door and opened it.

“Welcome to my new residence.” (Adele)

Adele greeted me with a radiant smile.

“I made it in the Eastern style.” (Adele)

“Eastern style?” (Leon)

“Take off your shoes here. Put these on instead.” (Adele)

“Hmm.” (Leon)

They were slippers. People from the Eastern countries apparently remove their shoes indoors. I changed into them.

“Now, come on up. Ah, here. To the left is the shower and toilet, to the right is the dressing room and bedroom.” (Adele)

Adele walked down the corridor with an excited air and opened the door at the end.

“This is the living room.” (Adele)

“Ah. The layout is similar to my boarding house.” (Leon)

It was a south-facing room with plenty of sunlight and a pleasant atmosphere. Outside the window were trees, providing a good feeling and shielding the room from outside view.

“Yes. The living room is slightly smaller than Leon-chan’s place, but it is more than sufficient for one person.” (Adele)

Adele officially became an actress for the opera company in March. The news appeared in a small notice in the general newspapers, and the flyers received throughout the city indicated that performances were scheduled from April. She explained that rehearsals could run late, making commuting from her uncle’s house in the Eastern Ward difficult. Therefore, she became independent and began living alone here.

“Leon-chan, your coat.” (Adele)

“Yes.” (Leon)

Adele stood close and began unbuttoning my robe.

“I am sorry I could not help with your move, Adele.” (Leon)

“That is all right. My mother, Lotte, and several juniors came to help.” (Adele)

My presence would feel out of place.

Last month, there was a private celebration for Adele becoming an actress, and I was invited, but I was not called for the moving assistance. At that celebration, she had handed me a small slip of paper with the date, time, and this address written on it.

“The juniors probably wanted to see what kind of life one would have as an actress.” (Adele)

After unbuttoning my robe, she efficiently removed it and hung it on the clothing rack in the corner of the room.

The steam heating worked very well, making the room warm for the early signs of spring in the royal capital.

“Sit on that cushion.” (Adele)

“All right.” (Leon)

Adele went into the corridor.

This was my first time entering a woman’s room, excluding Kaa-sama’s. There was a sweet fragrance.

Before sitting, I observed the room. Along the edges were sofas, and some stuffed animals, perhaps a cat and dog, each about the size of a three-year-old child. Lotte had mentioned that Adele liked cute things, and it was evident. A long-pile, light-colored rug was laid in the center of the room. A low table was placed there, with several cushions around it. It seemed that a kitchen occupied one corner.

Does she cook for herself?

I decided to stop my observations there. I removed my slippers, walked on the soft rug, and sat on a cushion. Within a minute, the door opened, and Adele returned.

Eh.

I was surprised by her appearance. She had previously worn a coat covering her entire body. Now, she wore what appeared to be short, fluffy knitted shorts. Her thighs were fully exposed, and her top was a similar sleeveless garment with a loose collar revealing the cleavage between her breasts.

“Um, I always dress like this in my own room.” (Adele)

She smiled mischievously and passed toward the kitchen.

I also stood and followed her.

“Did you bring the wine?” (Adele)

“Of course.” (Leon)

I carried nothing in my hands but had placed it in the magical storage.

“Thank you.” (Adele)

The slip of paper requested sweet white wine. It was better to be clearly asked than to worry what to bring. I had already sent her a separate gift, an iron, to celebrate her becoming an actress, so this was acceptable.

“Then, please bring the glasses. I want you to uncork the wine.” (Adele)

A faint scent of cheese filled the air.

“All right.” (Leon)

I returned and sat on the cushion. I twisted the corkscrew in with a creaking sound, and the cork came out cleanly.

Soon, she brought a plate of sliced cheese. One was speckled with blue mold, and the other seemed to be made from sheep’s milk. She placed it on the table, slid a cushion next to mine, and sat down herself.

I poured wine into the glass.

“Once again, Adele, congratulations on moving.” (Leon)

“Wait a moment.” (Adele)

“What is it?” (Leon)

“Kiss me before we eat the cheese.” (Adele)

She embraced me.

“Fufu. That is all right. You will eat it too, won’t you?” (Leon)

“Because first, I want Leon-chan himself more than anything… mmm… chu, ah… ugh.” (Adele)

“Then, let us toast.” (Leon)

“To our toast.” (Adele)

“Cold. Did you chill the wine?” (Leon)

“Yes.” (Adele)

Magic art.

“It is sweet, but refreshing and delicious. Was it expensive?” (Leon)

“About the same as the one I served when you visited before.” (Adele)

“Thank you.” (Leon)

“We walked here, but this area is quiet and nice.” (Leon)

“Yes.” (Adele)

“It is a bit far from the carriage railway line. Was that all right?” (Leon)

“There is a line to the west, but it takes over ten minutes on foot. The opera company provides carriage hire to and from the theater.” (Adele)

I see.

“Somehow, it feels like Adele has gone far away.” (Leon)

She looks like a celebrity.

“No, that is not the case. We looked at several apartments. This one was the closest to Leon-chan’s boarding house.” (Adele)

“No, I did not mean it like that.” (Leon)

I tilted the glass and bit into the cheese. Sweet wine pairs well with this kind of cheese.

“I understand, but when she becomes more popular and treated like a great actress, she will have attendants. For example, they might live in another room here and take care of her.” (Adele)

“I see.” (Leon)

“That might be convenient, but could feel stifling. For now, they only wash clothes and deliver food ingredients. Limited to those living in the Southern Ward.” (Adele)

I had heard that the opera theater and other bases were gathered in the Southern Ward.

“They take care quite well.” (Leon)

“Yes. If people know her face, shopping is difficult, and frequent washing damages the hands.” (Adele)

I see. It is not luxury but necessity.

“But I wash my underwear myself.” (Adele)

“Show me your hands.” (Leon)

They were beautiful and unchapped.

“I take proper care of them.” (Adele)

“Good.” (Leon)

“No, not good.” (Adele)

“Hm?” (Leon)

“I want you to touch somewhere else, not my hands.” (Adele)

She placed my hand on her head and stroked it.

“Ugh, the head is fine, but… ah.” (Leon)

Her hand traveled along my neck and slid inside my collar.

“Well, Leon-chan, where did you learn such tricks?” (Adele)

“Who knows?” (Leon)

“Ah… aah.” (Adele)

I lightly pressed the heavy spheres and lifted them.

My heartbeat accelerated slightly.

“But we should eat the cheese you cut for us after all.” (Leon)

I reached for the cheese.

“Delicious.” (Adele)

“Ah… today, you will stay over, right?” (Adele)

“If there is a place in the bed for me to sleep.” (Leon)

It was Saturday, so no meals were provided at the boarding house.

“Ah. Lotte said the bed might be a little too large.” (Adele)

Her face turned red.

“I see.” (Leon)
