Construction Plan Document

Healberry Village.

Morning arrived, and the chirping of small birds stirred me from sleep. I sat up and stretched my body fully, feeling a pleasant looseness in my limbs. It truly was a blessing not to suffer from stiff shoulders or back pain. I rarely caught colds either, so I supposed I was rather sturdy by nature.

“Ugo… good morning, Tou-san.” (Wood)

“Good morning, Wood.” (Elt)

Wood sat up as well, stretching with a deep grunt. Normally, Stella would be there, holding me in her arms, with Dia and Marcosias resting close by.

According to plan, the preparations for the art festival were to be completed by today. The arrangements for entertaining the guests during the festival had been mostly entrusted to Hold and Zanzas. The reason was simple. Many of the guests arriving this time already had established connections with Hold and the northern kingdom. It would therefore proceed far more smoothly if the two of them took charge. Connections among nobles were not easily forged. It required repeated interactions over time.

For my part, I simply hoped this event might serve as a way to promote the village. Results would not come immediately, but with continued effort, even small beginnings could lead to greater developments. Even so, I could not help feeling a sense of loneliness. Stella and the others were away, and I would have to endure that solitude for a while.

“Ugo ugo, will we eat breakfast?” (Wood)

“Hmm? Yes, let us eat.” (Elt)

We stood together in the kitchen and prepared our morning meal.

Today’s breakfast was a healthy vegetable salad, some ham, and a refreshing glass of orange juice to awaken the body. Today we would rest from exploring the underground passage and instead dedicate the time to preparations. Adjusting the wagons and supplies would allow everything to proceed more efficiently.

“Ugo… are we going by wagon to the third underground plaza, and then even further by wagon?” (Wood)

“Yes, we will advance ahead a little. Once we emerge to the surface from the new underground plaza, we will signal with smoke.” (Elt)

“Ugo! Then the wagon will come, and the return will be faster.” (Wood)

“Preparations are necessary, but in the end, this will be the quicker method. If Zanzas’ side were to discover another underground passage and we could advance from both ends, it would be even more efficient, but it seems not.” (Elt)

“Ugo, they have not found a path from their side, right?” (Wood)

“They are searching, but it seems without success. Still, if we advance a bit further, that may change.” (Elt)

At present, it seemed that the route from our village’s underground plaza toward Zanzas was following the shortest path. If we continued this way, we would naturally enter Zanzas from the north. The possible connection points would narrow accordingly. Should Zanzas manage to connect to the underground passage from their side, the speed of exploration would increase dramatically.

“Ugo, I am excited!” (Wood)

For Wood, the Puzzle Mushrooms posed no threat. On the contrary, he seemed delighted to have a chance to prove himself, as if finding purpose in it.

Good, good.

Perhaps the path of an adventurer would suit him well. After all, he has Stella, the great senior adventurer, as his role model.

After breakfast, we finished our preparations and left the house. There was paperwork to handle as well, after all.

“Piyo piyo.” (Cockatrice)

Our little walking Cockatrice waddled along, munching contentedly. Apparently, it had taken a liking to the Puzzle Mushrooms it was eating as it walked. At the entrance of the village, Naru and Brown’s group were already preparing for tomorrow.

“Good morning, nya!” (Naru)

“Good morning, nyan!” (Brown)

“Good morning, everyone.” (Elt)

“Ugo, good morning!” (Wood)

They were selecting the fastest horses and loading them with supplies. By using wagons, the number of trips needed to transport goods could be reduced, which would, in turn, allow for faster progress through the underground passage.

“I am grateful. Are preparations proceeding smoothly?” (Elt)

“No worries nya! Preparations are proceeding without delay, nya.” (Naru)

“If we focus on speed, we should reach the third underground plaza in no time nyan. That will leave plenty of time for exploration tomorrow, nyan.” (Brown)

“Ugo ugo, thank you!” (Wood)

“You are welcome, nya!” (Naru)

After a brief discussion, I parted ways with Wood. He stayed behind to help with loading and to meet with the older adventurers. There were also strategies to discuss regarding the Puzzle Mushrooms and other such monsters. In terms of combat tactics, Wood was the better instructor.

“Ugo, do your best!” (Wood)

“You too, Wood. Take care, and I will see you in the afternoon.” (Elt)

“Ugo ugo~.” (Wood)

With that, I headed toward the Adventurer Guild. It was still early morning, so there were not many people yet. In another hour or two, it would likely be quite crowded.

“Hm…” (Elt)

Someone was sitting quietly on one of the benches in the lobby. It was Iskamina. It was unusual to see her at the guild this early. Even when she had reports, she usually came in the afternoon.

“Good morning, Iskamina. Has something happened today?” (Elt)

“Good morning mogu, I finished an outline for the Magical Trolley plan, mogu!” (Iskamina)

She grabbed her bag and presented it proudly. That was quick, astonishingly quick. She had only learned of the idea yesterday. I assumed it was probably a rough draft, perhaps just one or two pages. There could not have been enough time for more detail.

“I see. Let us review it thoroughly in the office.” (Elt)

“Thank you, mogu!” (Iskamina)

Once in the office, Iskamina rummaged through her bag and produced a stack of papers.

Thick. Fifteen, no, nearly twenty pages.

“Mogu, it includes the preparations for setting up the Magical Trolley, the necessary materials, and a general schedule, mogu!” (Iskamina)

“That is impressive. You did all this in one day?” (Elt)

“Mogu! I had been jotting down ideas little by little, mogu!” (Iskamina)

That was truly helpful. Although the Magical Trolley had come as a surprise to me, it seemed Iskamina had already been exploring the idea for some time.

“Then, I will read through it immediately.” (Elt)

“Mogu, please do, mogu!” (Iskamina)

It would take some time to read through thoroughly, but I wanted at least to grasp the main points. First, I looked at the cover page. The title was boldly written in large letters.

Let me see. How very fitting for this village.

“Pippiyo Railway (Provisional) Construction Plan Document.”
