Chapter 172

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

We were traveling by car on our way to the dojo.

It was only a short trip, so we split up without much thought, but somehow all the Japanese members ended up in Hosoi-san’s car. That meant me, Haruka-kun, Onee-san, and Muze. Well, Muze was not Japanese, of course.

“Do you own a car, Onee-san?” (Kouta)

“It passed away after I tried to take a mountain pass too aggressively. I still have payments left on the loan. To make matters worse, I nearly got my license suspended.” (Suzuki)

“I am glad you are not the one driving today.” (Kouta)

“People like her are the reason traffic accidents never end!” (Muze)

“I just let the tires slide a little! If those fallen leaves had not been there, I would have made it perfectly!” (Suzuki)

Yes, Muze was absolutely right. What on earth was she doing on public roads?

“Even after joining the Self-Defense Forces, no one ever lets me drive! Such a waste when I could be driving government vehicles paid for by taxpayers!” (Suzuki)

“Of course they do not! If you damage the unit’s property, the higher-ups will tear us apart! No one would let you drive!” (Hosoi)

“Driving inside a dungeon should be fine! The car will get scratched anyway if monsters find us!” (Suzuki)

“There are regular explorers inside dungeons too! If Mai drives, there will be a traffic accident right away!” (Muze)

Hosoi-san and I both joined in chorus, agreeing with Muze wholeheartedly.

“Explorers can handle being hit a little!” (Suzuki)

“That is not fine at all!” (Kouta/Hosoi)

“Mai, you should learn from Terumasa! Despite his face, his driving technique is delicate!” (Muze)

“‘Despite his face’ was unnecessary!” (Hosoi)

It was true, though. This man’s face looked intimidating, yet he drove with the smooth precision of a taxi driver. The ride was so steady that it was almost hard to believe the car was even moving.

We parked the car at the lot of a nearby temple and continued on foot to the dojo. Apparently, they had arranged for us to use the space. The dungeon was about twenty minutes away by car.

“With this distance, I think I could have just run here.” (Kouta)

“Only you would think something like that! Ordinary humans would rather use the conveniences of civilization!” (Muze)

“Hahaha! She has a point, Muze-chan said it first! Besides, you would tire yourself out before we even arrive.” (Suzuki)

“What? I would not get tired from a distance like this.” (Kouta)

“My master is a creature called Kouta. He can keep running and fighting endlessly without a problem.” (Muze)

“Ku-ku-ku! So, that is what happens when you imitate my style. Exceptional endurance, the combat method I perfected myself. Training you will be worth the effort.” (Suzuki)

So that was it. By imitating Onee-san, I had been unknowingly evolving into a battle machine designed by her. Still, that sharp grin of hers was terrifying.

At the entrance of the dojo, Kondo-san and Onee-san stood waiting to greet me.

“Kouta-kun, are you ready? The people who gather here are battle fanatics who practiced martial arts even back in the peaceful days before dungeons appeared.” (Kondo)

“Ku-ku-ku, welcome to the land of carnage, Kouta-kun.” (Suzuki)

I might have come to a very dangerous place indeed.
