Chapter 165

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

I could not find a good place to cut this story. It is long.

Yesterday I had fulfilled my promise with Adelaide-senpai, and in the afternoon I had been leisurely wandering the dungeon. On the way back, I met Suzuki-san at the Guild, and it was decided that I would use the training hall three days later. After that, I would have to visit the German Embassy in Toyota. It seemed that a busy few days awaited me.

Today was the day of the dungeon livestream, so I came again with everyone to the fourth floor. Mira would return home tomorrow, or rather, come to Japan. That phrasing was difficult. She had said she would be returning temporarily to Germany, so I supposed it would be a “revisit to Japan”. In any case, she would soon return to Japan. Since Haruka-kun and Mira were carefully planning the next project, I left it in their hands.

Therefore, today’s project was, of course, mine.

“And so, today we bring you the much-acclaimed second installment of the ‘Pseudo-Ninja Project!’” (Kouta)

“Waa! Clap, clap!” (Muze)

“Kouta, could you not start without explaining the contents of the project?” (Haruka)

“Acting on impulse is what makes Kouta who he is, Haruka.” (Adelaide)

“Indeed. The viewers surely would not imagine that we have not been told anything.” (Sofia)

“Ordinarily, there would at least be a minimum explanation, would there not?” (Emilia)

Even though the broadcast had already started, everyone clapped while teasing me. But I had grown tired of entertainers who explained too much and then acted surprised deliberately. I wanted to see their genuine reactions.

“Once again, Muze will be wearing the camera in place of Mira today!” (Kouta)

“It is chonmage style!” (Muze)

Yes, according to Muze’s request, it was fixed atop her head.

“Then, Sofia, use the fixed camera position. Emilia, film freely. Mira and Haruka will handle editing afterward.” (Kouta)
“Thank you for the many comments already! Truly, we have not been told anything, so we have no idea what we are doing!” (Haruka)

Haruka-kun spoke into the mic while looking at his smartphone beside Sofia.

“First, what we will prepare is… Muze, right!” (Kouta)

“Muze is ready!” (Muze)

“Yes, Muze is here. I will rely on you if anything happens.” (Kouta)

I roughly patted Muze.

“Well then, let us get back on track. Ta-dah! Today we will use this!” (Kouta)

I drew a pendant from beneath my clothing hem. I had been wearing it wrapped around my arm. It was a drop item I had found while exploring the sixth floor, though I had actually gotten lost.

The mist had been thick, and I had been cutting through vines and plants that obstructed my path when it dropped. Apparently, a plant-type monster had been mixed in among them. Muze, who noticed what I had missed, had picked it up and brought it to me.

It could not be helped. The fragments I had been cutting down looked no different from ordinary plant debris. Even the item’s appearance was that of a slender vine with fluffy moss attached.

“This is an optional accessory called ‘Air Plant!’” (Kouta)

Everyone in the party looked blankly.

Well, I too had only learned the term “optional accessory” after obtaining it. It is a rare item not even sold in the shop.

“First, let me explain what an ‘optional accessory’ is. It is an item that can be attached externally without occupying the accessory slot. Its effects are special, however.” (Kouta)

I was certain, since it had been clearly written as “optional accessory” during the Guild’s appraisal.

“K-Kouta, was it truly alright to broadcast this?” (Haruka)

“Why not?” (Kouta)

“Kouta-san, this is a remarkable discovery.” (Sofia)

Ah, I had not considered that possibility. I had thought it was simply not yet circulated on the market.

“M-my stomach… is twisting… buhuhuh!” (Muze)

Muze twitched violently atop my head, laughing too hard.

“Well, it is too late to stop now, Kouta. Accept it and proceed as is. The view count is already skyrocketing.” (Haruka)

Haruka-kun was calm. I, on the other hand, was still trying to collect myself.

Urged on by him, I continued.

“Ehm, continuing…” (Kouta)

Perhaps I had gotten too full of myself from the praise of the younger brothers yesterday. Or maybe, because of my promise with Adelaide-senpai, I had been too nervous to think straight.

I should have thought more carefully before acting.

“Watch closely.” (Kouta)

I jumped and then kicked once in midair before landing, slowing my fall.

“Did you see that?” (Kouta)

“You stopped in midair!” (Sofia)

“Sofia saw it too? It was not my imagination, right?” (Emilia)

Adelaide-senpai was too astonished to even speak.

Good, I have succeeded in surprising them.

“That is right. If I can do this, that must mean… well, you have realized it, have you not?” (Kouta)

I glanced toward Haruka-kun.

Hey, Haruka-kun! Stop staring and check your phone! Is it really that shocking? Still, their surprise makes me happy.

“Haruka, how about it? Did anyone notice?” (Kouta)

“Eh, uh, yes… double jump? Double jump!?” (Haruka)

As expected, some people noticed quickly.

“Correct! I shall demonstrate!” (Kouta)

I jumped, kicked powerfully at the apex, and leaped again.

With the support of a support magic, my physical ability already allowed me to jump nearly three meters vertically. From there, I kicked off again, rising even higher. When descending, I kicked once more in midair to reduce speed before landing.

Everyone exclaimed in admiration. I had to be careful not to get too proud, or I would blunder again. Still, it made me happy.

“It is fun, is it not? However, this item has a slight delay, so you cannot jump repeatedly. According to my sense, the delay is under two seconds. If you mistime it, you will fall, so please use it carefully.” (Kouta)

I glanced around the group for dramatic effect before continuing.

“Now, I shall show the final stage I can currently perform. Muze, if I fall, handle it!” (Kouta)

“Leave it to me!” (Muze)

I ran toward the lake and leaped. While maintaining my balance, I timed my midair kicks to bound around the sky.

“Yes! Like this!” (Kouta)

Everyone welcomed me back with applause.

“Now then, Emilia, would you like to try? If you fall, I will send Muze immediately.” (Kouta)

“I can fly!” (Muze)

Oh? She want to be thrown? Ha she not said it felt weird last time? Could it be… comedic spirit?

“Sofia, can you pick up the audio?” (Kouta)

“Yes, go ahead.” (Sofia)

“By the way, this item requires leg strength or rather agility to function. So it cannot be used by just anyone. It depends on the user. I look forward to future research.” (Kouta)

Despite it being her first attempt, Emilia dashed toward the lake and failed on her fourth step, falling straight in.

“Ah! Kouta, hurry! Emilia cannot swim!” (Adelaide)

“What!?” (Kouta)

“Hurry, Master!” (Muze)

Then, why had she jumped toward the lake in the first place!?

Stunned, I quickly threw Muze as instructed.

Emilia clung to Muze as they returned, soaked and breathless.

“Do not push yourself too hard, Emilia.” (Kouta)

“I just wanted to try flying too…” (Emilia)

Originally, Haruka-kun was supposed to go next, but what should we do now?

“It is my turn, is it not?” (Haruka)

Indeed, he understood. A first-time failure would show viewers the danger well. I handed the “Air Plant” that I had retrieved from Emilia to Haruka-kun.

“Do your best.” (Kouta)

Since it was being streamed, I offered encouragement regardless of my true feelings. Haruka-kun smiled and accepted.

He took a long running start.

“Here I go!” (Haruka)

He leaped toward the lake, lost balance immediately, and on his third step, kicked toward the water, creating a great splash. If he had done that intentionally, it would deserve an award. The difference between Adelaide-senpai’s worry and Muze and Emilia’s laughter was immense.

Of course, I was on the laughing side. Most Japanese people could swim, after all. Even so, I threw Muze after him.

“Master, apply backspin! Backspin!” (Muze)

“Understood! Take care of Haruka!” (Kouta)

Muze spun like a top as she flew and entered the water with a small splash.

A perfect dive.

She returned, riding Haruka-kun like a surfboard.

Are their comedic instincts overdeveloping?

After that, Emilia and Haruka-kun each attempted once more and fell again after adding just one extra step. Perhaps body balance was a matter of dexterity.

“Adelaide-senpai, you must be growing tired of only watching, right?” (Kouta)

“Eh? But I am not confident in my agility, and, well…” (Adelaide)

She must have been interested, having watched so eagerly earlier. I had already planned how to invite her.

“As thanks for yesterday, how about a brief stroll in the sky?” (Kouta)

“Yes!” (Adelaide)

I wrapped the “Air Plant” around my arm, lifted Adelaide-senpai in a princess carry, and leaped toward the lake.

“Kyah! Kyah! W-we are flying!?” (Adelaide)

Muze quickly adjusted her position to film Adelaide-senpai’s expression. Balancing while she moved above me was difficult, though.

I briefly considered pretending to fall but decided against it, assuming Muze’s adjustment was not intentional mischief. After letting Adelaide-senpai enjoy the height and sensation, I returned to the group and concluded the livestream.

“That is all for today’s stream! I hope you enjoyed it! Look forward to the next one! See you!” (Kouta)

After that, it was still quite busy. I carried Sofia and jumped with her, while Emilia and Haruka-kun made countless attempts until their stamina ran out. Even though I wanted to end the stream quickly and go hunting…
