After the Rain Comes Sunshine

— Emilia —
Our mother, Erina-san, has passed away.
Yesterday, we returned home after finishing her funeral. The house felt as though its flame had gone out, filled only with heavy, suffocating silence.
Sirius-sama behaved as if nothing had happened, but there was a shadow about him, as though his strength had dimmed. It was only natural, for the person who had watched over him since the moment he was born was gone. His grief must far exceed ours. Even so, Sirius-sama took the lead in cleaning Erina-san’s room, gave us instructions, and guided us through our sorrow. He is truly a strong person.
Dee-san, as usual, remained expressionless, yet his mistakes had become noticeable. He burned the food slightly, for example. Still, he continued to move his body and perform his duties as he always did. I could not help but ask if he was all right. He gave me a faint, troubled smile and said that as an adventurer, he had grown accustomed to the frequent cycle of life and death. Perhaps I understand that feeling too, since I lost both my mother and father before my eyes. I can think clearly, at least a little.
Maybe this is what it means to grow used to death, but I wish I had never become accustomed to something like this.
Reus and Onee-san were much easier to understand.
Since returning from the funeral, they had been crying and moping constantly, yet this morning they were running through the garden at full speed. They shouted Erina-san’s name and words of thanks as they ran, trying desperately to release their emotions. Perhaps this was their way of finding closure. I found myself a little envious of how boldly they could express their feelings. Breakfast would be soon, and I hoped they would feel lighter by then.
Now, I stood before Sirius-sama’s room.
Ordinarily, at this hour, he would invite us to run in the garden with him, but today, he had not even appeared, much less called out to us. I suspected he was still asleep in his room.
When I was younger, I often dreamed of my parents and woke up in the middle of the night, leaving me sleep-deprived. Surely, Sirius-sama must be suffering from something similar and overslept. Back then, he comforted me and saved me. So now, it is my turn to save him.
I knocked on the door, but there was no answer. I knocked several more times, but still, there was no response. Gathering my resolve, I slowly opened the door.
“Good morning, Sirius-sa…ma?” (Emilia)
That was strange. Sirius-sama was not there. His nightclothes lay tossed upon the bed, yet there was no sign that he had gone out through the door.
How could I tell? Because we of the Silver Wolf Tribe have a keen sense of smell, and I could instantly recognize Sirius-sama’s scent anywhere.
I detected no scent near the door, so I approached the bed and leaned close to the nightclothes. They were already cold to the touch, meaning he had removed them some time ago.
Where does the scent lead?
“…Ah!” (Emilia)
Oh no, this will not do.
I found myself unconsciously embracing Sirius-sama’s nightclothes. His scent was far too captivating, and that must be the reason.
Following his scent, I found it led toward the window. Perhaps Sirius-sama had gone out through there. In that case, he must have gone to train at the mountain peak. He always returned by breakfast, so I decided I would help Dee-san prepare in the meantime.
Of course, no one needed to know that I took one last discreet breath of Sirius-sama’s scent before leaving the room. Something terrible has happened.
It was already time for breakfast, yet Sirius-sama had not returned. Normally, he would have flown back through the air by now, but no matter how long we waited, he did not come home.
I hurried back to the living room to report this, and both Reus and Onee-san turned pale as they groomed themselves.
“This is terrible! He must have lost control from the grief of losing Erina-san! He’s probably flying through the sky, shouting in anguish!” (Noel)
“Aniki must have been attacked by something! Damn it, I’m going to save him right now!” (Reus)
“Calm yourselves.” (Dee)
Sirius-sama could handle any foe that might attack him. Even so, a terrible unease welled up inside me, one thought after another refusing to be silenced. It was impossible, of course, but if Sirius-sama disappeared after Erina-san, we, I…
“What are you all doing?” (Sirius)
When we turned toward the voice, we saw Sirius-sama standing there, our sun.
Even though I knew he would return, even though I had believed it, I could not suppress my anxiety. I ran straight into his chest, unable to stop myself. Reus and my sister followed suit, each of us clinging to him. We were all frightened by Erina-san’s absence.
Sirius-sama seemed to understand the situation, scratching his head in slight embarrassment.
“My apologies for worrying you. I went to visit Kaa-san’s grave, and I lost track of time.” (Sirius)
“No, no, we are the ones who should apologize for being so weak.” (Emilia)
“As long as you’re safe, Aniki, nothing else matters.” (Reus)
“Let us have breakfast.” (Dee)
With that single remark from Dee-san, our breakfast began.
However, before we could start eating, Sirius-sama clapped his hands to draw our attention and bowed his head deeply.
“I thought that since a day has passed and we have calmed down a bit, I should first apologize to all of you.” (Sirius)
Apologize? Is he referring to being late for breakfast? There is no need for a master to apologize to his attendants for something so trivial, or so I thought, but it appears to be something else entirely.
“The truth is, the medicine that Erina drank was something I prepared. I had explained it to her beforehand, but I should have explained it properly to everyone as well. I am sorry.” (Sirius)
He bowed deeply once more. It was true that it troubled us to have been left uninformed, but it had been Erina-san’s decision. Sirius-sama had no reason to apologize.
“Please raise your head, Sirius-sama. Even if we had known, the outcome would have been the same.” (Emilia)
“She’s right, Aniki. We’re the ones who couldn’t do anything. We’re the ones at fault.” (Reus)
“Let us agree that both sides were at fault.” (Noel)
“That’s right, Dee-san! It’s mutual, mutual.” (Emilia)
“Thank you. That helps a lot.” (Sirius)
We finally managed to make him raise his head, and we all breathed a sigh of relief. Yet Sirius-sama still seemed as though he had something more to say. We straightened our postures and waited in silence.
“I want to speak properly with everyone. I truly feel sorrow at Kaa-san, at Erina’s passing. But she said she was content, that she was happy when she died. You all remember her face from that moment, don’t you?” (Sirius)
Everyone nodded. I remembered Erina-san’s face clearly, even now. She looked so serene, so fulfilled, smiling in a way that made it impossible to believe she was at death’s door.
“I feel no guilt toward someone who passed away with such peace. If anything, I found her expression so happy that I envied her.” (Sirius)
Indeed, though I had felt deep sorrow until now, recalling her face brought me a strange sense of calm. It might sound inappropriate, but I thought that if I were to die, I would like to smile as she did.
“Besides, she left me with many things, her love, the happy days we shared, and countless memories that remain within me. I am sure all of you received something from Erina as well, did you not?” (Sirius)
“Yes. I too received many things from Erina-san, all of which I keep in my heart.” (Emilia)
“Me too.” (Dee)
“Me too! Erina-san patted my head so many times.” (Reus)
“I also received so much from her.” (Noel)
She truly taught us so much, not only the skills of a servant but also how to face life with grace. When I was lost, she gave me advice and became my role model. Without her, I would not even have known how to speak to Sirius-sama and would have ended up in tears.
Everything she taught me continues to live within me.
“That is why I will no longer grieve. I will move forward, living in a way that would not bring shame to Kaa-san.” (Sirius)
As the words imply, she smiled without showing the slightest trace of sorrow. It was not heartlessness. Surely, she was a strong person who carried her grief and continued to move forward. Truly, she was a great and powerful person beyond our comprehension.
We cannot afford to fall behind her.
“There is still a little time before we leave here, but much remains to be done. Everyone, I need you to follow me.” (Sirius)
“Yes!” (All)
No matter what happens, I will follow you.
Afterward, when we had finished breakfast and were preparing tea, Sirius-sama suddenly addressed Dee-san.
“Dee. Do you not have something you should be doing by now?” (Sirius)
“…Yes.” (Dee)
With a stiff expression, Dee-san stood up and approached Onee-san. Surprised by his sudden movement, my sister also stood up.
“Noel.” (Dee)
“What is it?” (Noel)
“Please… marry me!” (Dee)
“Eh?” (Noel)
What!?
Even though I was not involved, I froze up just like my sister did. She was still motionless as Dee-san took her hand and slid a ring onto her finger. It had a blue gemstone that shimmered beautifully.
“Ah… um… me?” (Noel)
“Yes, you.” (Dee)
“But… I am a beastkin.” (Noel)
“That does not matter. I… I love you. I will not say that you are a replacement for Elina-san, but I swear that I will protect you. Therefore, please… give me your answer.” (Dee)
“Yes. I will become your wife, Dee-san.” (Noel)
Onee-san smiled through her tears and embraced him. Dee-san returned the embrace, somewhat awkwardly.
Ah… how wonderful. I wish that someday someone would propose to me like that. Of course, the person would be…
“What is it?” (Sirius)
No, I must not. I am an attendant. Simply being by his side is enough. To be held by him someday would be more than enough.
“Noel, Dee. Congratulations.” (Sirius)
“You did it, Dee-nii!” (Reus)
“Congratulations!” (Emilia)
“Thank you.” (Dee)
“Sirius-sama, everyone… thank you.” (Noel)
Though Erina-san is gone, we can still smile. As long as Sirius-sama and everyone are with us, we can keep smiling.
Erina-san, we will be fine now. So please, watch over us.
—
— Sirius —
Good grief, I cannot tell how many years it has taken to reach this point, but it seems Dee has finally made up his mind. Noel feared confessing because of her burden as a beastkin and former slave, so their union depended entirely on Dee’s initiative. It seems that my mother’s last words gave him the push he needed. From now on, Dee will protect Noel, and even if we part ways when they leave the house, I can be at ease.
Ah, I must not simply watch them embracing. I should read the mood.
I tapped the shoulders of Emilia, who was gazing at them with admiration, and Reus, who looked happy, and signaled for them to follow me outside. They nodded, and we quietly left the living room.
“I am so happy. Truly, I am happy for my sister.” (Emilia)
“I have never seen Noel-nee look that joyful before.” (Reus)
“Then do you not wish to make her even happier? In fact, I have an idea.” (Sirius)
As the two sat in the garden exchanging their impressions, I proposed an idea. Hearing it, they both stood up, full of enthusiasm.
“I would like to do it as well. Let us do it, Sirius-sama!” (Emilia)
“I will do my best! What should I do?” (Reus)
“Reus, go procure ingredients. Including Apu, gather several fruits and hunt a medium-sized bird. Return no later than noon.” (Sirius)
“Got it!” (Reus)
Reus leaped through his room window, prepared himself, and dashed into the forest. To him, the forest nearby was practically his backyard, and he would surely return with excellent results.
“As for Emilia, I would like you to prepare the clothing. I shall explain, so let us return to the room.” (Sirius)
“Understood.” (Emilia)
Carrying Emilia, I returned to my room and took up paper and a quill to sketch a general image of the clothing.
“It should have an overall fluttering appearance. We do not have enough time to make it properly, so I would like you to sew together the fabric Elina once used and at least shape it accordingly.” (Sirius)
What I ordered was a wedding dress. Of course, elaborate decorations such as beads or a multilayered skirt would be impossible to complete today. However, by sewing lace and cloth onto existing garments, we could create a passable appearance.
As you may have guessed, what I wished to do was a wedding ceremony for the two of them. Though the only attendees would be us, I wanted to give them a lasting memory of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Especially the attire, for the wedding dress was indispensable.
“Leave it to me. I will absolutely finish it in time. I will add the lace I made for practice and make it perfect.” (Emilia)
What a dependable answer. I would be in charge of the cooking, and I felt a little guilty for letting her shoulder most of the burden.
“Ah… Onee-san will be the one wearing this. How lovely.” (Emilia)
Now is not the time to be daydreaming at the drawing, you know.
I could not blame her for admiring it, but somehow, I was starting to feel uneasy.
Emilia returned to her room to begin working on the attire, and next came my turn for the cooking. However, the problem lay with the two who were the center of attention. What should I have them do while we prepared? We could not very well let them assist with the setup. Then again, when I thought about it, there were people in my previous life who made their own wedding dresses. Perhaps letting them help would not hurt. I had thought of surprising them, but if a size error made it unwearable, that would be tragic. It would be better to tell them.
I did not wish to intrude on a private moment, so I quietly peered into the living room. The two sat close together on the sofa, radiating happiness. Even from a distance, their affection was obvious. They had surely already shared a kiss. When I lightly knocked on the door, they hastily drew apart.
“Pardon me for interrupting, but may I have a moment?” (Sirius)
“Y-yes! Anytime… I mean, yes!” (Dee)
“W-what is it that you need?” (Noel)
How innocent and flustered they were. I could have teased them further, but time was short. I quickly explained the wedding ceremony to them.
“Thank you… for doing this for us.” (Dee)
“Truly… is it really alright?” (Noel)
“Of course. We want to do this. I feel bad making you help prepare for your own ceremony, but if you have spare time, please assist Emilia.” (Sirius)
“Yes! Wedding, dress… ufufu.” (Noel)
Perhaps lost in dreams of marriage, Noel skipped away toward Emilia. I wondered if she could actually be of any help. My unease deepened.
“Now then, as for you, Dee.” (Sirius)
“I would like to learn from you.” (Dee)
With a notepad and pen in hand, he stood by with an eager expression. He must have understood that I was about to create a new dish. His passion for cooking was truly boundless.
“I do not mind, but you may not help. It is your wedding, after all.” (Sirius)
“It is deeply regrettable, but understood. Just for today, I will yield to your words.” (Dee)
The attire aside, I could not allow him to help with the food. It was only for five people, and once I finished the most troublesome item, the rest would be easy. Bringing Dee along, I headed for the kitchen.
“First, the cake.” (Sirius)
No wedding was complete without a cake. I planned to prepare several other dishes, but since the bird would have to wait until Reus returned, I would begin with the first cake ever made in this world.
“A cake!? That is something only the highest nobles ever have. Are you truly making such a thing?” (Dee)
“Yes. I see… so cake is that rare of an item, is it?” (Sirius)
In my previous life, cakes were commonplace, yet in this world, they are considered quite rare. Moreover, according to the books I examined, which serve as references, the cakes of this world are crude and appear unappetizing.
The method described is to knead a generous amount of sugar into bread dough, bake it, then cut the bread into a round cake shape and decorate it with fruit. It sounds like a joke, but that is all there is to it. It might seem simple, but for commoners, sugar is a valuable commodity. Using so much of it for a cake would be wasteful, so they would rather bake more bread instead.
Nobles, on the other hand, pile sliced bread into multiple layers, and the height of those layers supposedly symbolizes wealth and social standing. I cannot help but think, what nonsense that is.
Naturally, I have no intention of making such a foolish cake. My plan is to prepare the cake batter from scratch using eggs and butter, coat it with fresh cream, and decorate it with the fruits Reus gathered.
The most important part is how it is baked. There are no convenient devices such as ovens, so I will have to make do with an iron box inscribed with a magic art circle that generates intense heat. The strength of the fire and the baking time are uncertain, as this is my first attempt, so I must remain vigilant. Although I am concentrating, I feel that Dee, who is standing beside me taking notes on every one of my movements, is exerting even more focus than I am.
After concentrating for thirty minutes, the cake batter was successfully completed. As I prepared to move on to the fresh cream, I heard Reus’s voice calling from outside.
“Aniki! I brought them back!” (Reus)
“Well done… Wait, how much did you gather?” (Sirius)
He really overdid it. His backpack was packed so full of fruit that it was about to spill over, and in both hands he held six birds resembling ducks. That amount was far more than enough for five people, possibly even for ten. It was my fault for not specifying a quantity, but I learned once again that letting Reus act purely on instinct was a mistake.
In the end, I had to take extra steps to preserve the ingredients we could not use, which caused more trouble than expected.
As evening came, the wedding ceremony for Noel and Dee was held in the living room, which had been rearranged for the occasion. I stood on a makeshift platform wearing a robe, taking the role of priest, while Dee, dressed in fine clothes, stood nervously waiting for Noel.
“Dee-nii, calm down. Noel-nee is not going to run away.” (Reus)
“Yes, I know… but still.” (Dee)
He folded his arms and scratched his head, unable to settle down. Perhaps such nervousness is part of the charm of a wedding, but for someone who is usually so expressionless, he was completely different today. While watching him fondly, the doors opened, and Noel appeared wearing the handmade wedding dress.
“Thank you for waiting, Sirius-sama.” (Noel)
Emilia, who was holding her hand, beamed with pride.
It was also my first time seeing Noel in her wedding dress, and she looked truly beautiful. Of course, compared to those from my previous world, it lacked luxury and brilliance, and it had been made in haste, yet it was still a remarkable piece. The way the lace had been connected and the decorations that utilized the fabric’s natural flow demonstrated the techniques Elina had once taught. It was an impressive result.
Without saying a word, Noel slowly walked toward Dee. When she stopped before him and they faced each other, she smiled gently.
“How do I look? Am I beautiful?” (Noel)
“Yes… you are beautiful.” (Dee)
Dee stood there in a daze, completely captivated.
The hand that Emilia had been holding was passed to Dee, and the two turned to face me. Watching them stand side by side made my nose sting a little with emotion. I felt as though I were a father sending off his daughter to be married. However, now was not the time to get sentimental. I had to act properly in my role as priest.
“Now that both of you are here.” (Sirius)
“Yes. From now on, we will make our vows before God.” (Noel)
In this world, weddings typically involve inviting family and acquaintances, introducing the couple before everyone, pledging before God through a priest, and then holding a banquet afterward. That is a fine custom, but I thought we might try the method from my previous world instead.
“I have a suggestion for you both. There exists a traditional method from ancient records that differs from the usual way. Would you like to follow that?” (Sirius)
“This is a ceremony prepared by Sirius-sama. We shall entrust everything to you.” (Dee)
“I agree. If it is Sirius-sama’s arrangement, it will surely be a wonderful ceremony.” (Noel)
“Thank you. You need only answer the questions I ask.” (Sirius)
With their permission granted, I began the ceremony. Although I had imitated a priest’s role before during an undercover investigation, I never thought I would actually serve as one. Thanks to that experience, I remembered most of the words used by priests, and now I was grateful for it. I decided to add a touch of my own interpretation and fully embody the role.
“We are gathered here today to hold the wedding of Deemas and Noel. May God watch over them and receive their vows. Before we proceed, I ask the witnesses present here.” (Sirius)
“What is it?” (Emilia)
“What is it, Aniki?” (Reus)
“Deemas and Noel are about to be married. If anyone has a legitimate reason to object to this union, please speak now.” (Sirius)
“There is none!” (Emilia)
“Of course not!” (Reus)
At their firm declaration, tears welled up in Noel’s eyes. Naturally, there would be no objections, but such formalities are part of the custom.
“I have no objections either. Now then, groom Deemas. Do you vow to cherish and support your bride Noel, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?” (Sirius)
“I… I do!” (Dee)
“Bride Noel. Do you vow to cherish and support your groom Deemas, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?” (Sirius)
“Yes, I do.” (Noel)
“Do you pledge yourselves to one another?” (Sirius)
“We do!” (Dee and Noel)
“Then, groom, please place the ring upon your bride’s finger.” (Sirius)
I handed Dee the sapphire ring that I had retrieved beforehand. Though visibly tense, he managed to take it and slip it onto Noel’s ring finger.
“I will do my best. I will make you happy, Noel.” (Dee)
“No, I will do my best too. I will support you, so please protect me.” (Noel)
“Yes, I will protect you always.” (Dee)
Their exchange was heartfelt, and the atmosphere in the room grew warm. Now it was time to bring the ceremony to its conclusion.
“Then, seal your vows with a kiss.” (Sirius)
“What!?” (Dee/Noel)
Oh, so they are hesitant. Still, both the exchange of rings and the kiss are essential parts of the ceremony.
Maintaining a calm expression, I encouraged them silently with my eyes until Dee, finally resolute, took Noel by the shoulders and kissed her.
“Ah!” (Emilia)
“Whoa!” (Reus)
The onlookers were noisy. Normally, a wedding should be solemn, but since we were all family here, I decided to let it pass.
“From this moment, the two of you are husband and wife. May God grant you eternal blessings. Everyone, please give them your applause.” (Sirius)
“Congratulations!” (Emilia and Reus)
The siblings’ cheers and applause filled the room as the newlyweds responded with radiant smiles.
“Thank you.” (Dee)
“Sirius-sama, Emilia-chan, Reus-kun, I am so very happy. Thank you, truly, thank you.” (Noel)
The wedding ceremony concluded in the best possible way.
As I looked at the extra chair that had been set up, I felt as though my mother were sitting there, clapping and offering her blessings to the couple.
—
And then, after the ceremony had concluded, it was time for the meal. Noel, though not for a change of attire, had changed into her usual maid outfit and was relishing my cooking.
“Mmm… as expected of Sirius-sama. This chicken is so tender, and the flavor has soaked in perfectly. It is simply exquisite.” (Noel)
What I had prepared this time was something like a roast turkey. It was not Christmas, of course, but such a dish carried the impact suitable for a celebration, and since this particular bird was tastier than an actual turkey, that made it all the better. After preparing it with care, simmering it in my special sauce, and finally roasting the surface, it was complete.
“Noel-nee, you looked amazing in that dress, so why did you already change out of it?” (Reus)
“Well, because I made that dress together with Emi-chan, and everyone blessed us while I was wearing it. It is a precious memento, so I do not want to stain it, you know?” (Noel)
“That makes sense. Still, I am really happy for you, Noel-nee.” (Reus)
“Yes, thank you once again. Sirius-sama prepared the food and organized everything, Emi-chan made my dress, Reus-kun helped with the hunting and preparations, and Dee-san took me as his wife. I truly am a fortunate woman.” (Noel)
Radiating happiness, Noel was devouring the food at an astonishing pace.
Is it one of her traits that her appetite increased in proportion to her happiness? I only hope she would not gain weight from bliss.
“Even though you have become Dee-san’s wife, are you not going to change how you address him?” (Emilia)
“That is true. Hmm… perhaps now is the right time? Sirius-sama’s cooking is truly delicious, is it not, a-na-ta?” (Noel)
“Guh!?” (Dee)
Dee, who had been quietly eating in embarrassment beside her, choked. For someone as innocent as him, Noel’s attack was far too powerful. Yet, it seemed that her onslaught was not over.
“Yes, my dear. Say ‘ahh.’” (Noel)
“Hey… Noel.” (Dee)
Perhaps because she was at the height of happiness, Noel’s restraint had completely vanished. Holding out a fork with a piece of chicken on it, she brought it to Dee’s lips with a radiant smile, waiting for him to open his mouth.
“…Ahm.” (Dee)
“Nyahaha… I am so happy.” (Noel)
The atmosphere around those two was so sweet that it seemed to distort the very air. Emilia watched them with admiration, while Reus seemed somewhat put off. As for me, I was not the type to concern myself with such things. If they were happy, then that was enough.
“Aniki, is it just me, or is it really hard to get close to those two right now?” (Reus)
“It is not just you. They are in a world of their own, so let them be.” (Sirius)
“If you say so, Aniki. But it is weird. Noel-nee looks like she is glowing pink.” (Reus)
“Haah… how nice. Onee-chan, that is so nice…” (Emilia)
Perhaps Emilia’s admiration had gone beyond its limit, for she began staring intently at her fork as she shook her head.
“No, no, this will not do. I am a servant, not a wife, so something like this would be wrong. But if I am to take care of him, then perhaps… no, no, that is not right!” (Emilia)
Now, Emilia, what exactly are you doing?
She was muttering excuses, yet somehow her fork was already near my mouth. I sighed at my disciple’s lack of self-control, but still, I ate it. I was probably too kind.
“Ehehe… I am so happy…” (Emilia)
“Huh? Now Nee-chan looks pink too. What is going on?” (Reus)
“Just leave her be.” (Sirius)
He would understand once he becomes an adult… probably.
After the meal came the appearance of the cake. Though the sponge was a little firm, it was still sufficiently cake-like, and the cream decorations were beautifully done. Except for Dee, the other three’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Th-this is cake? It is completely different from the one I saw at Aria-sama’s.” (Noel)
“What is this? These patterns are so beautiful. How did you make them?” (Emilia)
“That’s amazing!” (Reus)
Ah, I just realized. I should have let them do the cake-cutting ceremony during the wedding. It was too late now, and since they had already changed clothes and the three of them were staring at the cake like hungry beasts. It would be impossible to stop them.
“Fufufu, it turned out a little different from what I imagined, but it is still a masterpiece.” (Sirius)
“Yaaay!” (Noel/Emilia/Reus)
At my declaration, the beastkin trio’s excitement reached its peak. As the main couple, Noel and Dee received slightly larger slices, and everyone immediately began eating the cake.
“It is delicious. I never imagined cake could be so… so sweet and delicious.” (Noel)
“Ah… this is perfection.” (Emilia)
“Mmmhphh, it’sh delishioush, Aniki!” (Reus)
“…Wonderful.” (Dee)
High praise from everyone, as expected. Reus was probably trying to say, “It’s delicious, Aniki!” but he need not speak with his mouth full. I had tasted a bit earlier, but the completed version was truly something else. The cream might have been a little rich, yet still within acceptable range.
“My dear, surely you…” (Noel)
“I have taken notes perfectly. I shall attempt it myself next time.” (Dee)
“You are the best, my dear!” (Noel)
Even after marriage, their dynamic remained unchanged. With such compatibility and their long history together, the two would surely become a fine couple.
And so, our party continued long into the night.
Then, came the final touch.
After I had put Emilia and Reus to sleep using a mild sleeping drug, I called out to the two who were about to leave the living room.
“You two, Emilia and Reus are asleep thanks to the medicine, and I will be using earplugs, so do not worry about making noise.” (Sirius)
“…What?” (Dee)
“Eh!?” (Noel)
“Remember, contraception should always be practiced responsibly. Now, take your time and enjoy yourselves.” (Sirius)
“Wait! Sirius-sama, where did you even learn such things… no, wait, Sirius-samaaa!?” (Noel)
I knew it was meddlesome of me, and I was well aware that it was overstepping my bounds. Yet, after all the teasing and waiting they had endured, I believed that this much would not earn divine punishment.
May they fully enjoy their first night together.
The next morning.
“Noel…” (Dee)
“My dear… I love you.” (Noel)
The two of them were, indeed, deeply and blissfully in love.
