Chapter 135

“Gaaaaaahhh!!” (Goblin Chieftain)

The goblin chieftain gave a ferocious roar and charged straight toward me. I too would meet him head-on. But before that…

“Muze! Stay back!” (Kouta)

“It cannot be helped! Muze is withdrawing!!” (Muze)

With a light spring, Muze leapt from my head and landed behind me.

Even so, was that a reference to a robot story just now? I wish she would refrain, for it causes my strength to leave me.

“I shall move to the front! Everyone, tighten the formation!” (Kouta)

With this, the formation would become compact.

As I dodged his downward swing, I attempted to strike with a horizontal slash, but he evaded it. Circling to the left and exchanging a number of blows, I began to perceive the extent of his ability.

This is bad. I fall short of him by a step. Too much time was wasted on the lesser goblins, and Haruka-kun’s support has ended. This time, power and something more had been granted, yet now I feel no such blessing.

Each time I received his sword, my hands went numb, and when I struck him, my blade cut no deeper than a shallow wound. Even so, I swung my sword with desperation.

This is bad. I am being forced back.

“Haruka! Go to Kouta’s aid!” (Mira)

“What!? …But!” (Haruka)

Mira!?

“If that line breaks it is over! Go!!” (Mira)

Driving away Haruka-kun’s hesitation, Mira shouted and sent him forth. Truly, I was grateful. I had been pressed into one-sided defense and was in dire peril. Now it was two against one. Though the other side still gave me concern, I had no choice but to focus here.

Circling the goblin chieftain, Haruka and I pressed our attack, steadily shaving away at his strength. Even so, he granted us no opportunity for a decisive blow. He was strong.

Haruka-kun’s weapon could not deliver a finishing strike, for the foe’s defense was too great to inflict a fatal wound. Even so, it was not weak enough to be ignored, and the damage was certainly accumulating. However, perceiving this, the goblin chieftain turned his focus to me, and thus I was unable to deliver a fatal strike.

Sofia and Emilia covered well, yet Mira and Adelaide-senpai were beginning to lose their breath. Within this extreme tension, they had been fighting ceaselessly. It was no wonder.

Suppressing my impatience and irritation, I pressed the attack against the goblin chieftain. A harsh cracking sound rang out.

“Ahh!? My spear!?” (Emilia)

“Emilia! Use the sword at your waist! That is what the spare is for!” (Kouta)

For me, it was a fine thing to give the order immediately. Perhaps my eyes having turned toward Emilia for a moment allowed the dire situation to sink swiftly into my mind.

“Adelaide-senpai!” (Kouta)

“Status down!” (Adelaide)

It worked. Magnificent. To think she could even bring effect upon the goblin chieftain.

Haruka and I roared together, seizing the moment to strike with all our strength. Yet even then, it was still not enough. Our blades reached him, his blood loss was tremendous, and still we could not inflict a mortal wound.

How strong are you, truly?

“Dance the Sword Dance!!” (Muze)

…? We had prepared a number of dances for filming. Was she telling me to perform one now, in the midst of this?

!!

It was as though a bolt of lightning had struck. To dance while wielding a weapon, this way we could receive support openly, without the viewers discerning the truth.

“Kouta!!” (Haruka)

“I will match you!!” (Kouta)

Right, left, right, right, right. With each turn of my body, I unleashed a slash.

It came. As always, Haruka-kun’s fortune at the critical moment was unmatched. Our power heightened, Haruka and I danced madly to the melody of the “Ninth” that Muze sang. The goblins, bereft of their chieftain, lost all command and were cut down with ease.

Our broadcast, having triumphed with a dance of victory, there entered at that point a pause for rest.
