Standard Size

“Ugo… like this?” (Wood)

Wood gently placed the kneaded grass dumpling upon the table. I took it in hand and tested its firmness.

*Funi funi*

It was slightly soft, but without a doubt, it was a proper grass dumpling. It looked delicious.

“Yes, I believe it is just right.” (Elt)

“Ugo, I am relieved…!” (Wood)

Wood exhaled lightly. Apparently, he had been anxious about it.

“…Ugo, the dumpling is small, which makes it difficult to handle…” (Wood)

“Wood, you are rather large, after all…!” (Anaria)

Anaria gazed up at Wood. With his height of two meters, naturally his arms and hands were quite large as well. It was then that I suddenly realized something.

“Grass dumplings are generally all of the same size, are they not? They are always made about this size, are they not?” (Elt)

“Yes, that is correct… Approximately about this size.” (Anaria)

The grass dumpling that Wood had just made also had its ingredients properly measured before being kneaded. Therefore, its size matched that of the grass dumplings made by the Dryads.

“One does not purposely make them larger or smaller, does one…” (Elt)

“Indeed, that is true. The size of grass dumplings is not altered.” (Anaria)

Anaria concurred. At her side, the Cockatrice was violently kneading grass dumplings.

“Piyopiyopiyopiyo.” (There, there, there, there.) (Cockatrice)

“Piyo!” (Take that!) (Cockatrice)

It flapped its wings wildly, brimming with spirit. Such enthusiasm. If ordinary kneading of grass dumplings resembled forming sushi rice balls, then the Cockatrice’s method resembled spinning pizza dough through the air. The intensity of the act scarcely seemed the same task at all.

“…Piyo.” (…It is done.) (Cockatrice)

“Piyo…” (Here…) (Cockatrice)

And once finished, it suddenly calmed and neatly set the grass dumpling aside.

“It is properly made…” (Elt)

“Piyo!” (For I am Piyo!) (Cockatrice)

“Piyoppi!” (Because I am Piyo!) (Cockatrice)

Anaria regarded the Cockatrice’s behavior with interest.

“It does not sneak bites while working.” (Anaria)

“…That is true.” (Elt)

Our gazes grew slightly distant.

According to Tetetoka, when grass dumplings are made, the person who makes them may immediately eat half on the spot. Furthermore, if one is still hungry, one may, with priority, eat the other half as well. In other words, three-quarters of a grass dumpling could rightfully be eaten immediately by the one who made it.

…Indeed. With the usual size of grass dumplings, Wood must find them too small to handle easily.

“Shall we attempt to make larger grass dumplings?” (Elt)

“Ugo… may we?” (Wood)

“For the moment, let us double the ingredients. Even then, it should still fit within one’s palm.” (Anaria)

Doubling the amount would make them closer in size to manju, or even onigiri.

“Yes, that sounds appropriate. The height difference between Wood and the Dryads is considerable, after all…” (Elt)

“Yes, let us attempt it in whatever way is easiest.” (Anaria)

“Well, even if the size of grass dumplings changes somewhat, it should be no problem. Since nothing is filled inside, after all.” (Elt)

If it were like manju with anko inside, then too thick a skin would be undesirable. However, grass dumplings had no such concern.

“Very well, then let us try making them at double the size!” (Elt)

“Yes!” (Anaria)

“Ugo!” (Wood)

Meanwhile, in the Northern Kingdom…

“This is it!” (Stella)

Stella displayed her snowboarding techniques with brilliance upon her Nana-board. She avoided the blue-white freezing beams of the Ice Crystals to the right and to the left, all while batting away Ice Crystals with her bat.

“Here goes…!” (Nana)

Nana too did not content herself merely with standing upon her board. Sliding with a great movement, she swept her surroundings with her iridescent whip. Naturally, it did not possess its full original power or range, yet it sufficed well enough for harassment and attrition.

“Piyo. How beautiful, piyo…!” (Dia)

Within the tornado, snow sparkled as it fell, while the iridescent whip lashed about violently.

“Nana, you too are fighting valiantly.” (Stella)

“Yes. I think I am beginning to understand. If one strikes where the cohesion is weak, its regeneration is slower.” (Nana)

“That is precisely correct…! It is something most difficult to perceive from outside the tornado.” (Stella)

“…Indeed. From outside, one would never discern this.” (Nana)

Due to the relation between wind and momentum, the interior of the Ice Crystal swarm was comparatively calm.

“Nevertheless, to dive into a swarm of Ice Crystals of this scale… I have never heard of such a thing.” (Nana)

“It is surprisingly manageable…!” (Stella)

Stella smiled softly.

Having spent much time with her, Nana reflected anew. Stella never flaunted her strength, nor did she boast of her exploits. Yet when crisis arose, she confronted magic beasts with rational decisiveness. Though the question remained whether any other human could possibly do so.

“So, this is why she is called a hero…” (Nana)

Nana murmured softly within her costume.

Having fought within the Ice Crystal swarm for an hour, it was certain that the tornado was weakening.

“Once it begins to weaken, it weakens further still.” (Stella)

“Piyo! Like when ice begins to melt, it goes quickly, piyo?” (Dia)

“That is an exact analogy.” (Stella)

Marcosias squished Dia’s cheeks gently.

“I have been praised, piyo!” (Dia)

“I have indeed praised you!” (Marcosias)

Dia and Marcosias frolicked merrily.

“Well then… with support from outside the tornado, this shall be concluded sooner than expected.” (Stella)

“Yes, indeed. The soldiers of the Northern Kingdom also seem to be engaged…” (Nana)

The external attacks were gradually intensifying. As the tornado weakened, more forces were being deployed. Even the soldier-piyo of lower rank than the royal guard-piyo (soldiers in vampire costumes) had begun to participate.

Under Leia’s command, the ground forces were launching fierce assaults against the tornado.
Of course, the two piyo who flew through the air continued their precise attacks as well.

The tornado must surely be defeated soon.

Rolling her shoulders in a circle, Stella declared with vigor.

“Just one more push remains!” (Stella)
