Chapter 131

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

As planned, we devoted Saturday morning to dungeon exploration, and after changing clothes in the guild’s locker room, we headed to a large shopping center nearby for lunch. The food court was chosen so that everyone could freely select what they liked, a desperate measure to avoid ramen. However, this turned out to be a blunder, as Muze drew too much attention. Those accustomed to seeing her merely waved cheerfully, but those unfamiliar either stared, shrank away in fear, or approached out of uncontrollable curiosity. We had only come to eat, yet somehow a crowd had gathered.

“This is rather unsettling.” (Kouta)

“Is it? This much is ordinary.” (Mira)

“There is no need for you to concern yourself, Kouta.” (Emilia)

Emilia and Adelaide-senpai tried to reassure me. Sofia seemed utterly unconcerned, as though long accustomed to such things.

“We shall be streaming from the dungeon soon! Please support ‘Dungeon Philharmonic’!” (Mira)

“Please search for it if you would like!” (Haruka)

It was Mira and Haruka, shamelessly using the chance to promote. Those two truly possessed audacity beyond reason. Naturally, unauthorized advertisement in a commercial facility would normally earn reprimand. However, since the staff could not adequately manage the unruly customers, the incident passed without serious consequence.

Still, I had no desire to return soon. Supermarkets existed near our home as well, and there was no need to force ourselves here.

“My own charm is terrifying! Muze is indeed a sinful woman!” (Muze)

Yes, yes.

Everyone doted upon foolish Muze, and we hurried onward so as not to be late. At the dungeon’s entrance, since we had become regulars among top-streaming parties, we were approached by many. Middle schoolers curious about dungeons, associates who had watched our streams, even fellow adventurers, they all called out to us. Since the livestream testers had been openly recruited, many had come from across Japan. Those selected, their families, and related persons had gathered here at the Toyota Dungeon guild. Thus, we were stopped far more often than usual. Even so, we barely managed to enter the guild in time.

At the appointed hour, the explanation began.

“I have been assigned to give the explanation. My name is Kondo Isami, though regrettably that is indeed my real name.” (Kondo)

The one who appeared was Kondo-san, leader of the Kagemusha, who had become famous during the strike. A member of Imperial Bushido, he was a handsome Self-Defense Force officer, lamenting that he had been forced into the leader’s role merely because of his face. He called himself a “Kagemusha” because, in both intellect and strength, he was far from the top. Nevertheless, chosen for broad appeal, he had been thrust into leadership of Imperial Bushido. Thus, he was something of a man long burdened.

The explanation was roughly as follows…

  • This test was to be conducted only within the Nagoya (Toyota) Dungeon. Floors and planned broadcast areas must be reported in advance, no later than the previous day.
  • As testers, if any issues arose, we bore the duty of reporting them.
  • Prohibited language and potentially unlawful or indecent footage were strictly forbidden. Even borderline attempts were banned.
  • Broadcasts would be transmitted via relays installed on each floor; therefore, floors not declared could not be streamed. (Higher floors than declared were permitted.)
  • Regarding equipment, one must select items compatible with the relay devices.
  • In terms of time, considering installation and removal of the relays, broadcasting would begin one hour later and end one hour earlier than guild operation hours, from seven in the morning to seven in the evening.
  • Delegation, lending, or midstream personnel changes were not permitted. Any violation would result in immediate contract termination, except where the nation judged an unavoidable circumstance. Even then, increases in members would not be permitted.
  • In any case where sudden contract termination became necessary, one must report it to the guild office.

“Please do not mistakenly come to me for such matters. I hold no such authority.” (Kondo)

Laughter arose among the attendants. Perhaps this man was more accustomed to public speaking than I had thought.

“And let me make this clear, do not misunderstand. We shall not assist your activities. Within the dungeon, act upon your own responsibility.” (Kondo)

In other words, protect yourselves, and do not expect interviews with Imperial Bushido. There may well have been those who hoped to boost their view counts by interviewing him.

Truth be told, it would likely be successful. Even I was interested. Aside from that, he reminded us to follow ordinary dungeon rules such as ownership of obtained items. Finally, each party was to be issued a potion, which caused great excitement among the participants. Waiting idly while injuries healed was a waste of time. It was a measure that showed the nation’s seriousness.
