Chapter 116

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

Muze resembled a semi-transparent one-year-old child and, for all intents and purposes, was still a monster. I hesitated to leave such a child alone at home, so I brought her to school with me. Naturally, I was reprimanded.

Muze, unwilling to separate, and her charming appearance caused the teachers to relent. Those who aspire to be educators are generally kind-hearted. Exceptions exist, of course, but one could not pursue this profession without liking children. At worst, I had considered transferring to a correspondence high school.

Nonetheless, taking advantage of an empty seat in the classroom to place her there seemed excessive. It was reminiscent of a famous anime where enormous ghosts appear.

“Well, Muze, behave yourself, will you?” (Kouta)

‘Kouta-sama, what do you think of Muze? This is a rare opportunity! I shall study diligently and return home! Kouta-sama must also do his best. You are capable if you try!’ (Muze)

Perhaps this was a perfectly executed counterattack. The teacher merely narrowed their eyes in amusement and continued the lesson. Given my academic record, which was near the bottom of the class, I could offer no retort. During break, an onslaught of questions awaited. Muze responded energetically while occasionally glancing at me. Perhaps she was shy around strangers.

She placed candy in her mouth and handed it to me on her tongue.

I could not eat it, so I thought, do not put it in your mouth!

I had at least verified what she could eat.

“I am sorry, Muze. You can only drink water.” (Kouta)

‘I do not know! There may be other things I can eat! One must sometimes take challenges!’ (Muze)

“You are a water spirit, are you not? You are not human.” (Kouta)

‘It is merely an analogy! For my master to point out such matters is petty!’ (Muze)

“I do not wish to be called petty by you.” (Kouta)

‘That is what your master is like!’ (Muze)

Muze tapped me lightly while I gently stroked her to calm her. She must have had her reasons for consuming something.

“Then, why did you eat it?” (Kouta)

‘…Everyone else seemed to be enjoying it.’ (Muze)

“I see, that must have been difficult.” (Kouta)

I patted her head carefully. Her pouting face was exceptionally adorable.

“Drink some water and regain your strength.” (Kouta)

‘…Muze demands Suntory! Tap water is unacceptable! If tap water, a shower is preferred!’ (Muze)

Apparently, Muze approved of the shower. I made a mental note.

I poured some of the bottled natural water that I kept on hand for Muze. Her joyful cries captured the attention of the girls in class. The one who had given her candy likely wished to see this expression, and thus I did not complain. By seeing this, Muze would surely receive affection.

“Kouta-sama, could Muze-chan dance to this?” (Haruka)

Haruka showed me his phone. On the screen, he danced without his usual sharpness, performing comical movements.

“I think it would be faster to let Muze see it. Muze, can you dance to this?” (Kouta)

I showed Muze the video on Haruka’s phone.

‘Oh! Tiny humans are dancing. Such strange planks!’ (Muze)

Muze watched intently and began moving her body.

‘Myu, myu, myu? That is not correct.’ (Muze)

A young girl earnestly watching the video and attempting to dance.

Adorable.

“Hmm, that is not quite right.” (Haruka)

“Haruka? What is wrong?” (Kouta)

“Yesterday, Mira-san told me to prepare a dance that would make Muze-chan look exceptionally cute. I thought this approach was a bit off.” (Haruka)

I wondered what was meant by the “direction of the dance”. Muze was already adorable enough.

What did they intend to make her perform?

“Is that so? I shall look forward to it.” (Kouta)

“Yes! Leave it to me!” (Haruka)

Haruka’s enthusiasm filled me with unexpected anxiety. I never imagined I would end up dancing alongside her.
