New chapter of Plant Magic Lord is out! (1/3 chapters)
Boat Arrival
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
About another week passed.
There was less movement between Lalatoma and Wood than I expected. Lalatoma occasionally came to the house to receive cotton. Or Wood would go to the Large Tree Tower to practice with flower decorations.
That’s about all that’s been happening. Maybe they’ll stay passive for a while. It would be nice if some opportunity came up.
“Mmnn…” (Elt)
That morning, I woke up in Stella’s arms.
Lately, Stella had been choosing randomly whether to sleep facing me or with her back to me. Last night, it had been the latter… and when that happened, waking up in her embrace seemed to be part of the routine.
“Stella?” (Elt)
“Spii…” (Stella)
“No good, huh…” (Elt)
Stella had her face buried in the back of my neck, still half-asleep.
But it would be a lie to say I didn’t enjoy this kind of skinship from Stella… Maybe after a bit, she’ll suddenly open her eyes.
“Hmm…?” (Elt)
It was noisy outside.
“Nyaa!” (Nyaff)
“Nya nyaa~n!” (Nyaff)
Are the Nyaff tribe calling out? How unusual. To be so loud this early in the morning. Did something happen?
“Mm, I hear something from outside…” (Stella)
It seems Stella had woken up. She really does wake up fast when something unusual happens. That’s a first-rate adventurer for you.
“Good morning, Stella.” (Elt)
“Good morning…! It seems something happened outside.” (Stella)
“The Nyaff tribe is being noisy. Let’s go take a look.” (Elt)
“With my ears, I don’t think it’s anything bad, nya…” (Stella)
Stella loosened her embrace on me and gave a big stretch.
Hmm? Well, if it had been an emergency, they probably would’ve rushed straight to my house.
I got out of bed and looked out the window to see what was going on.
Ah…
I immediately understood why the Nyaff tribe was making a fuss. From a carriage that arrived early this morning, parts of a Cockatrice Boat were being unloaded. All of the Nyaff tribe were involved. Apparently, the adventurer in his thirties was there too. That was what had the Nyaff tribe so hyped.
“Piyoo… what’s that, piyo?” (Dia)
“Ugougo, what’s wrong?” (Wood)
It looked like Dia had woken up, and was brought to the window by Wood.
“Ugougo… is that a boat?” (Dia)
“Piyo!?” (Dia)
Dia looked out the window and was surprised.
Oops. The Cockatrice Boat is currently disassembled into parts. Although we had talked about the boat…
“…This boat is different from the one Kaa-sama made, piyo…? Is the way it’s made changing, piyo?” (Dia)
…She’s growing!
—
I quickly got dressed and left the house. For now, I’d head out alone to see what was going on. Maybe drawn by the commotion, a decent number of people had gathered.
“Nya, Elt-sama! Good morning, nya!” (Naru)
“Good morning, nyaan!” (Brown)
“Good morning, Naru, Brown.” (Elt)
Naru bowed her head.
“Did we perhaps wake you with the noise, nya? We deeply apologize, nya…” (Naru)
“Ah, no… don’t worry about it.” (Elt)
I waved my hand in reply.
The other villagers didn’t look like they were disturbed either. More like they were full of curiosity. The atmosphere around was very good.
“Carriages come in the early morning sometimes anyway. It’s no problem.” (Elt)
There were five carriages in total that had arrived at the village. Apparently, each carriage was carrying parts for two boats. Rather than “parts,” it seemed the Cockatrice sections were the only things separate. The body portion looked nearly complete. The Cockatrice parts that would go on top were loaded separately.
“Hehehe… they used some fine lumber here.” (Adventurer)
“Yeah, I can feel it just by the weight. Light and easy to carry… It’s definitely a quality piece.” (Villager)
“Nyaan, even the paint job is quite good, nya.” (Nyaff)
The Cockatrice Boats weren’t just yellow. There were red, blue, and green versions too. Apparently, they’d tested various paint jobs.
“The cheap ones lose paint just from a little rubbing, nya…” (Nyaff)
“It’s like fishing rods or lures!” (Nyaff)
“Nyaan! When a brand-new lure’s paint starts peeling, it kills the mood, nya.” (Nyaff)
They really looked like they were having fun unloading the boats. That was the mood everywhere.
“Once we finish unloading and checking everything, we’ll take them to the lake, nya. That’s where we’ll assemble them, nya.” (Naru)
There were already quite a few craftsmen in this village. If they were building boats from scratch, that’d be a problem, but assembly-type should be fine.
“All right, then I’ll help out too. With the [Large Tree Arm], I can carry quite a bit.” (Elt)
“Nya!? Would that be all right, nya?” (Naru)
“Yeah, might as well move them all quickly. I want to see the completed setup too.” (Elt)
“Nya, we’ll eat breakfast while checking the items, nya. Would it be okay for you to return in an hour, nya?” (Naru)
“Got it. No problem.” (Elt)
“Thank you, nyaan!” (Brown)
“Nya nya~!” (Nyaff)
Now, I just had to call Wood and Stella too. They should be preparing breakfast. After eating, it’d be time to move the boats. Once those colorful Cockatrice Boats float on the lake, it’s going to look spectacular. Though… it is a little surreal. The Cockatrice head parts are laid out on cloths spread on the ground…
—
“Heave-ho, heave-ho…” (Stella)
“Ugougo…” (Wood)
Stella and Wood gladly agreed to help carry the boats. After finishing their breakfast salads, they got right to work. Stella carried three boats, Wood carried two. As for me, I handled three with the [Large Tree Arm]. We were casually moving eight boats as a family.
“Stella, are you okay…? I don’t think you can see in front of you.” (Elt)
“Your vision’s totally blocked, you know.” (Elt)
“That’s super stacked, piyo…” (Dia)
Stella had both arms full, holding a mountain of boat parts. She wasn’t swaying at all, but her vision had to be zero.
Wait, is she sensing everything by sound…? She’s able to act completely normal by relying on subtle echoes.
“This much is a piece of cake. Totally easy.” (Stella)
“…That’s amazing, nyaan.” (Brown)
“She really is a superhuman…” (Adventurer)
Even the adventurer in his thirties and Brown, along with newcomers to the village, were all surprised.
“So, that’s the Hero of Zanzas…” (Villager)
“And the lord-sama is moving all that with magic…” (Villager)
W-Well, I do have to show off once in a while. Sometimes, it really is faster to just use magic for this kind of thing.
“Hau…” (Lalatoma)
And before I noticed, Lalatoma had come up beside Wood. She was looking up at him as they talked.
“Is it not heavy?” (Lalatoma)
“Ugougo, not at all! Still super light!” (Wood)
“You’re so strong…!” (Lalatoma)
Hmm.
The sky was nearly clear again today, with a gentle breeze. It looked like we’d be able to assemble the boats and even do some trial runs.
“Nyaan… Will you use the boat, nyaan?” (Brown)
Brown whispered, glancing meaningfully at Wood and Lalatoma. I immediately understood what she meant. She was trying to get the two of them on the boat together.
“…Right. If the top part isn’t attached, I think Wood and Lalatoma could fit inside.” (Elt)
“Exactly, nyaan!” (Brown)
I didn’t plan this at all, but by sheer flow of events, a boat date operation might be starting.
