New chapter of Ordinary Person is out! (2/3 chapters)
Chapter 71
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
The Sofia I saw for the first time in a while was in full-body armor.
Yeah, well, it’s her equipment. Of course she would put it on before joining up, but no matter how many times I see it, she stands out way too much. There are people who wear things like leather breastplates, but full-body armor? That’s on another level.
But Sofia didn’t mind at all. She was probably used to being the center of attention.
“How is it? Does it suit me?” (Sofia)
Even though she’s wearing a helm, am I supposed to say it suits her? It’s really a troubling question…
“Well, perfect, I guess?” (Kouta)
Meaning, from any angle, she looks like a heavy infantry soldier.
Sofia clenched her fist and looked satisfied.
She’s got a bit of an airhead side.
“Look, Kouta!” (Emilia)
This time it was Emilia. With a full smile, she showed off the spear in her hand.
“Did you get a new one?” (Kouta)
“Yeah! They said it came from the Osaka Dungeon.” (Emilia)
“There was talk that kobolds there drop bows and spears, right?” (Kouta)
“Emilia found this in the guild shop and bought it on the spot. I didn’t even have time to stop her…” (Mira)
Hang in there, Mira… But they say bows and spears are the basics of war, so maybe it was a good purchase.
“The attack power is especially amazing! It’s 12, 12!” (Emilia)
Considering the Goblin Knife is 7, that’s an extraordinary power. But for a beginner to get used to a spear, I wonder how long that will take. By the way, the Kokimaru that Haruka-kun and I saw at the shop yesterday had an attack power of 16 to 20. Excluding the mysterious dungeon-born weapons, it’s among the strongest in the world.
Well, the price too, you know?
“Mira, did Sofia also get something new? It doesn’t look like she changed.” (Kouta)
“No, nothing has changed.” (Mira)
Then, why did she ask if it suits her…? Totally incomprehensible…
“Sofia seems to be aiming to power up through inners and accessories. She’s been looking carefully at the shop for any good accessories.” (Mira)
So, that’s how it is.
“Did you tell Sofia about Haruka?” (Kouta)
“Yeah, I figured it’d be better if I told her rather than you doing it. Was that unnecessary?” (Mira)
“No, thank you, that helps a lot.” (Kouta)
It was our first time exploring as a group of four in a while, so we spent the second stratum reviewing movements and coordination. Our positioning, timing of attacks, how to handle situations, so we exchanged opinions on small but concerning points and adjusted accordingly.
If the burden falls too much on one person, it’s dangerous, and that person’s level tends to go up faster. Once a level gap starts forming, it becomes hard to fix. With our party already having a level gap, that could become a fatal issue.
That’s why we build our formation with utmost care. Even so, Emilia ended up swinging her spear around and accidentally hitting Sofia. Party coordination really is critical.
Well, I also think Emilia should first learn how to use a spear properly, though.
We arranged the front row with me on the right, then Sofia, and placed Emilia in the 1.5th row. Mira was positioned in the second row.
If Sofia and Emilia can coordinate as shield and spear, we can make solid attacks without gaps. And if the calm Mira gives long-range support, enemy detection, and guidance from the rear, the party will be stable. Can we say we’re ready for the third floor now?
Though, Emilia’s spear handling and Mira’s MP shortage still leave some slight concerns.
