Chapter 65

That night, seeing the uploaded post, I was speechless.

The footage from Haruka-kun was good material but poorly filmed with a low-performance camera. Mine was bad material, but the camerawork and camera performance were good, my battle scenes and dancing. With effective close-ups and positioning, it was finished like a movie.

I took my hat off to Emilia’s talent. Mira was also surprised at Emilia’s hidden talent. There was even music added, a world of difference from my sloppy posts.

The next morning, after confirming via LINE that Sofia’s condition was improving and replying, I left the house.

Today too, I planned to challenge the dungeon with Haruka-kun. There was also a plan to go with Mira and the others, the four of us, but since he apparently promised to go with senior Adelaide, today it was just the two of us again. Again, I packed rice balls, tea, and water in my backpack and met him in front of the dungeon.

“Hey, Kouta, good morning. You’re early again today.” (Haruka)

“Good morning, Haruka. I don’t want to be told that by you, who’s already here.” (Kouta)

I left the house before 6 to not be late for our 6:30 appointment.

So how come you’re already here?

“Somehow, after seeing yesterday’s post, I couldn’t sleep.” (Haruka)

“You’re like an elementary school kid! But, well, I get how you feel. If you get sleepy or feel bad, say it immediately. I’ll see you to the exit.” (Kouta)

“Hehe, you’re planning to dive into the dungeon alone, huh? That’s so like Kouta.” (Haruka)

I don’t know why that’s ‘so like me’. Apparently, that’s how Haruka sees me. I feel like I can change myself when I’m in the dungeon. That’s why I keep diving in. That’s all there is to it.

Our hunting was going smoothly. It might Haruka-kun was getting used to my style, his movements were gradually improving. Or maybe his level had gone up. On top of that, when he danced, he kept getting consecutive hits, and at inhuman speeds, we ran around the dungeon’s second floor.

With double support, I could run 100 meters in under 8 seconds and keep going for 1 or 2 kilometers. Haruka-kun couldn’t keep up, so I was running a bit slower for now. The problem was that my drop luck was too good, and knives and such were heavy. We crushed a goblin horde and decided to have lunch there. It was nice that they completely disappear when defeated, especially at times like this.

“Kouta, another ‘magic stone’ dropped.” (Haruka)

“Again? Isn’t it dropping too much today?” (Kouta)

“Well, we’ve defeated a lot.” (Haruka)

“No way, even if I hunt alone all day, some days nothing drops.” (Kouta)

“Really? Then today’s a big profit.” (Haruka)

The ‘magic stone’ is a fist-sized black stone with a bluish tint and also very heavy. Worried that the bottom of my newly bought backpack might fall out, I stuffed even more ‘magic stones’ into it.

“Haruka, use this.” (Kouta)

I threw Haruka the item I made from a wolf’s fang dropped earlier, turned into a pendant top. It’s a mystery why wolves drop finished products like this item.

“T-This! Isn’t this the ‘Fang Amulet’!? No way! I can’t accept something like this!?” (Haruka)

“No, I’m not giving it to you. But while we’re teamed up, it’s better if allies are strong. It’s more efficient to use it than to sell and split the money. We can balance it out if better stuff drops later or sell and split when we disband.” (Kouta)

“R-Really? If that’s the case, I guess I’ll use it.” (Haruka)

Haruka looked at the ‘Fang Amulet’ with sparkling eyes.

The ‘Fang Amulet’ is an accessory with DEF 1, MDEF 1, and Strength +1. Even such a tiny item is quite valuable. It’s an item that caused trouble when athletes secretly wore it. The dungeon where this kind of item appears is truly a mystery.

“Can you wear multiple of these and have the effect stack?” (Haruka)

“At level 0, only one works. From level 1, up to two have effect, I think… It was announced by a Dutch research team.” (Kouta)

“Kouta, you know a lot.” (Haruka)

“No, it was an important announcement that got no attention, so it stuck in my mind. Mira might even know the research details. She’s been working hard to gather info recently.” (Kouta)

If just wearing many was enough to raise ability endlessly, their value would be astronomical. Since that was not the case, the lowest-tier accessories only cost several hundred thousand yen. There were still expensive, but that was because even ordinary people can gain effects.

Wearing one accessory alone grants defense equivalent to jeans. It’s definitely a good charm. Though still pricey! Alright! Let’s keep hunting hard!

After hunting for a while, we called it at a good point and took a lunch break.

Enjoying the peaceful scenery after killing goblins, I stuffed a rice ball in my mouth, savoring the crisp seaweed texture and sea scent. When I tried to call out again, Haruka was nodding off. I felt guilty waking him, so I finished lunch while keeping watch. By the time I took a break with a bottle of tea, Haruka was hugging his knees, fast asleep.

That amulet didn’t cause sleepiness, so it must have been the sleep deprivation catching up. I gave up on hunting with Haruka-kun for today. After a bit of rest, I woke him and took him to the dungeon exit.

Haruka was full of apologies, but since from tomorrow we’d be doing separate activities for a while, I told him not to worry and prioritized that topic. If he really didn’t care, I’d punch him, but he was not that kind of guy, so it was fine.

He had promises with Mutou-kun and others and planned to go out with his family. I also had plans to explore with Sofia and the others. Mira and the others were moving in various ways, so Sofia seemed anxious. I had to be careful not to let her get injured again after just recovering. After all, I didn’t have the courage to use [Healing Magic] in front of everyone.

Well, I don’t think goblins could hurt Sofia with DEF 18, anyway.
