Flower Decorations and Boat

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

Then, about a week passed without incident.

On such a holiday, the wind was softly blowing, and the weather was good.

Anaria was taking a walk with Iskamina when they were stopped by Tetetoka in front of the Large Tree Tower.

“Yahhoo.” (Tetetoka)

“Hello.” (Anaria)

“Hello, mugu.” (Iskamina)

Tetetoka beckoned the two of them with small gestures.

“Hmm? Is something wrong?” (Anaria)

“Drum is calling you.” (Tetetoka)

“I don’t really understand, but somehow I get it, mugu.” (Iskamina)

Anaria and Iskamina looked at each other. They both knew about Drum’s flower decorations seated on the Large Tree Tower. They remembered being quite surprised that such art existed.

The two of them followed Tetetoka step by step and entered the Large Tree Tower. In the living room of the Large Tree Tower, several small stands were placed.

“Actually, we decided to start selling these flower decorations outside…” (Tetetoka)

“Yeah, I heard about that.” (Anaria)

“I heard they’ll bring Drum and all to the art festival, mugu.” (Iskamina)

“So, I was thinking you two could learn how to do the flower decorations a bit.” (Tetetoka)

The explanation was very abbreviated. That was as usual. Still, Anaria somehow had a premonition about this. From the day she saw Drum decorated with flowers, she thought maybe one day she would do it too. Among the Dryads, probably playing the Drum was a special category. And next in rank was the position of Food Master.

Tetetoka decorating Drum, then teaching it next, might be the Food Master. But it wasn’t especially unpleasant. Anaria, who liked making things from the start, thought it sounded interesting. It was probably a variation of something like dried flowers. However, it was a bit sudden.

“That’s sudden, isn’t it…” (Anaria)

“Yeah, I just suddenly thought of it.” (Tetetoka)

Tetetoka flailed her hands awkwardly. There was no ill intent. It was just her own pace.

“…Will I do it too, mugu?” (Iskamina)

“If possible, it’d be great if you could do it together…” (Tetetoka)

Anaria looked to Iskamina for a little help. Tetetoka also flailed her hands toward Iskamina.

“Let’s do it.” (Tetetoka)

“Mmm, being told that… I’ll do it, mugu!” (Iskamina)

Iskamina was originally quite fond of festivals. She had even made a little profit with handmade baked sweet potatoes. Also, Iskamina sent money back to her hometown, so if it connected to money, she wanted to try.

“…It seems like it could become a useful skill, mugu.” (Iskamina)

“Yeah, yeah, you seem pretty smart anyway.” (Tetetoka)

Tetetoka casually pointed that out. Anaria thought “hmm”. That was probably true. Iskamina, who graduated from the Advanced Academy and majored in geology, was simply smart. Tetetoka might not know the detailed academic ability, but somehow she sensed it. As expected of someone whom Elt relies on heavily. She seemed to have a natural sharp intuition.

“Well then. While eating grass dumpling…” (Tetetoka)

Tetetoka took grass dumpling out of her pocket and ate it.

“First, let’s start with the meaning of each branch–…” (Tetetoka)

And so, studying flower decorations began at the Large Tree Tower.

“A few days ago, this happened, but it was quite interesting, you see…” (Anaria)

“Oh ho ho.” (Elt)

In the Adventurer Guild’s office, Anaria was enthusiastically explaining. Today, Stella finished work early and went home. Only Anaria and I were in the office. The rest was occupied by a plush Cockatrice.

“Since they use branches, leaves, and flowers trimmed by pruning, there’s no waste.” (Anaria)

“Hmm, indeed, it seemed they weren’t cutting just for the flower decorations.” (Elt)

Dryads don’t waste around there… killing plants is unthinkable, and they take proper care.

“…Even so, although it’s handmade, I feel this is different from potion making.” (Elt)

Anaria moved to the village just for potion making.

Now also flower decorations…?

Then, I suddenly thought.

Potion making and flower decorations share something. A big common point.

“Do you enjoy processing plants?” (Elt)

At my words, Anaria nodded with a little surprise.

“Potions were like that too, it’s interesting to see plants transform into something else. Still, you understand well…” (Anaria)

“I’ve known you for a long time.” (Elt)

Anaria was one of the longest-standing members of this village. In fact, we communicated regularly for work and daily life. Also, Anaria was single-minded once hooked. It was the same with the Food Master, she tended to get into things related to plants, like grass dumpling.

“So, Iskamina is also doing flower decorations?” (Elt)

“Yes, she likes working with her hands, you know.” (Anaria)

When Anaria calls Iskamina, there was a closeness not found elsewhere. They were classmates at the Advanced Academy, roommates… apparently still sharing a room. That was a strong bond.

…From the current Anaria, I don’t see any intention of romance or marriage. She seems fully satisfied with daily work and hobbies.

“That’s good. It seems Iskamina is also settling into the village.” (Elt)

Getting involved with or influenced by the Dryads gives a rooted feeling to this village. It was just my own thought.

“She’s able to send money back properly, so I think she’s enjoying herself a lot.” (Anaria)

Anaria looked happy.

While talking like that, there was a knock. Since the sound came from the lower part of the door, I knew it was a Nyaff tribe member.

“Come in.” (Elt)

Brown came in. He seemed somewhat excited.

“Nya~n, excuse me for intruding nyan! Ny- Anaria… am I intruding nyan?” (Brown)

“No, no, it’s fine!” (Anaria)

Brown checked with Anaria once and then, walked over.

“Thank you nyan. Nyan, Elt-sama… I have a little consultation, nyan.” (Brown)

“Yeah, what is it?” (Elt)

“The other day, I showed you the Cockatrice Boat, nyan?” (Brown)

“I remember. I think the completion was still a bit ahead.” (Elt)

“Well, about that nyan… others have asked me to make them one too, nyan!” (Brown)

Brown waved his hand with a “nyaa~n”.

“By the way, Naru too, nyan.” (Brown)

“I-I see…” (Elt)

“Naru also wanted a boat after all…” (Brown)

It’s a boat, but… Brown probably showed it to various Nyaff tribe people. The price wasn’t high, so it’s no wonder others might want to buy one too.

“I’m the one who started it, nyan. So, I came to get permission, nyan.” (Brown)

“Ah, ah… everyone wants a boat, right? The lake is big, so no problem.” (Elt)

I heard before that merchants want boats.

“…By the way, how many do you want?” (Elt)

“Just in case…” (Brown)

He asked in a cautious tone.

Well… probably two or three, maybe.

Brown spread his hands quickly and cheerfully declared.

“Ten, nyan!” (Brown)

“Ten!?” (Elt)

Did everyone want that many? That Cockatrice Boat…
