Chapter 60 – Golden Week

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

Last night’s message couldn’t just be ignored. I struggled quite a bit to clear up the misunderstanding. In the end, the cause was that the translation app on Mira’s side wasn’t a general-purpose one. It was some kind of joke app.

Apparently, it was an app that basically thrived on mistranslations. And after playing around with it, they didn’t shut it off, so when my message was translated through it, it resulted in a huge misunderstanding.

Still, that was such a needlessly high-tech prank. Sofia apparently almost fainted and I got a message from Emilia.

I really wanted to ask… Were all three of them using the same app to play around? Did they go visit someone with the flu? Were they together at that time of night? There were all sorts of things I wanted to question.

Well, as long as the misunderstanding was cleared up and everything’s okay, that’s fine. But because of that, I’m sleepy from the morning.

I made plans with Haruka-kun to meet at 6:30 in front of the dungeon. Since it’s the first day of Golden Week, we expected it to be crowded. We wanted to get in as early as possible and hunt on the 2nd or maybe the 3rd floor.

I’ve heard that starting from the 3rd floor, there aren’t that many people. That’s because the monster groups get tougher, and the death rate for explorers increases. Apparently, firearms also visibly start to lose effectiveness from that floor onward.

“Yo! Good morning, Kouta. What’s wrong? You look sleepy.” (Haruka)

“Good morning, Haruka-ku… Good morning, Haruka.” (Kouta)

“Either’s fine, really?” (Haruka)

“I’ll get used to it. Just need a bit more time to adjust.” (Kouta)

That’s just how it is, right? Even Haruka-kun’s first-person pronouns fluctuate sometimes.

“It’s not like you to say we’d depart at 5:30 but be running late, Kouta.” (Haruka)

“Well, let’s just say there were some deep circumstances. I’d really appreciate it if you don’t pry too much.” (Kouta)

“So, it wasn’t a big deal, but you don’t want to be questioned about it? Got it.” (Haruka)

Yes, exactly that. Haruka-kun seems to have understood my words perfectly and that’s a relief.

“Let’s just check our gear before we head out.” (Haruka)

“Got it.” (Kouta)

“As time goes on, more people will start arriving. So, I was thinking we’d have lunch inside the dungeon and aim to come back up early. Is that okay with you?” (Haruka)

I had mentioned this when we made our plans yesterday, but this is just a confirmation to be sure. Sofia has the flu, and there was no way I thought she’d be up and moving the very next day. That was why I’d already made plans with Haruka-kun.

“Yeah.” (Kouta)

“So, we’ll need something easy to eat and enough fluids. Preferably, even if it’s heavy, a 2-liter plastic bottle would be ideal. Haruka-kun, you got enough?” (Kouta)

“I’m good. I also brought salt, considering how much we’ll be moving around.” (Haruka)

“Excellent.” (Kouta)

Seriously, he’s perfect. He said he did dance, so maybe from back then he already had the habit of properly replenishing fluids and electrolytes.

At this still-sparse hour, we began moving toward the 2nd floor. Now and then, we passed by enthusiastic people already at it from early in the morning. Ignoring them, we took out every goblin we spotted along the way and kept pushing forward.

This time was pure level-grinding. There was no need to overdo the dancing. Still, I had proposed we do some dancing about every 20 minutes and gradually stack it up. Ideally, it would have been every 15 minutes, but we couldn’t afford to waste MP. So, I had built in a little buffer, just in case. Rather than for the present, it was a schedule crafted with the future in mind.

The key to this leveling session would be how much we could accomplish in the first half, while our MP and focus were still high. At the same time, we would build the habit of dancing between battles.

Dancing habit… I made the schedule myself, but that phrase is incomprehensible… Honestly, I don’t understand it. But not using such a valuable skill would be a waste. Couldn’t there have been a slightly more user-friendly skill? I’d like to ask that. Not that there’s anyone to ask, though.

We quickly make it to the 2nd floor and begin the dance-powered slaughter.

“This is where it really starts! You ready!?” (Haruka)

“Music, start!” (Kouta)

Haruka-kun seemed to have resolved himself. Seeing his reaction, I hurried to get into position.

Yeah, I’m dancing too… Can’t be helped, right? It’s +10, right? I have no choice but to do it!?

“Kouta! Move more from the shoulder blades! Make it dynamic!” (Haruka)

“…Got it!” (Kouta)

Getting dance coaching from him, seriously…

But I still wanted to benefit from his support skill, so I pushed myself to keep up.
