Chapter 55

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

I explained the streaming-type explorer idea to Haruka-kun. We were currently heading to the guild.

“It’s okay if the duration is 30 minutes, right?” (Haruka)

“Yeah, no mistake. There’s a clear change in the body, but since it’s not visible, that’s a relief.” (Kouta)

“That’s true.” (Haruka)

If there are glowing lights or something surrounding him, Haruka-kun is mistaken for an angel or something. If I see him in a dungeon, I probably make him a target for subjugation immediately. Even the cute blue rabbit, I hunt it down, so there’s no way I hesitate to hunt a handsome guy. If the laws are revised, I can probably do it even now!

“What we need to check is the MP consumption, and how much each stat increases.” (Kouta)

“Yeah.” (Haruka)

“Also, referring to the info about ‘dance’, we need to check whether the boosted stat is random.” (Kouta)

“Is it that the amount increased is random?” (Haruka)

“No, it seems like the stat that increases is random. Sometimes it’s strength, sometimes it’s speed. It looks like you can’t choose what gets boosted.” (Kouta)

I also looked it up online back when I got [Support Magic].

The most reliable source is the information released by the Japanese guild. Well, they’ve got the government solidly backing them, after all. The stuff put out by regular people includes a lot of fake info, and being misled by that is dangerous.

“Next is whether it can be cast on others. If that’s possible… it’d be insanely strong.” (Kouta)

“Yeah, that’s true.” (Haruka)

If that’s possible, it’s dangerous…

I was about to say that but swallowed my words.

If it’s just a self-buff, there’s no benefit to others, so the chance of being targeted is extremely low. But if it can be cast on multiple people, the story changes.

He finally regained his calm, so there was no need to scare him again now.

First, dance in front of the guild and use the appraisal room… or maybe the reverse is better? I’ll pretend I’m watching TikTok on my smartphone and dance around jokingly. At that level, it shouldn’t seem unnatural.

Also, I want to test what happens if you dance multiple times within the time limit. In my case, with [Support Magic], the effect just got overwritten, so there was no point in casting it multiple times.

As for whether it could be cast on others, it was too dangerous to try.

“Ah, hello Onee-san, is the appraisal room free right now?” (Kouta)

“Yes, hello. Kouta-kun, you’re perfect attendance again. It’s fine since you don’t seem to be overdoing it, but make sure you don’t push yourself too hard, okay?” (Receptionist)

How did she know I’ve been coming even on my days off? Is it showing up in the card trade history or something?

Anyway, I gave a simple response.

“Yes, got it.” (Kouta)

“Good! As for the appraisal room, a party just went in, and there’s one group waiting after that. What will you do?” (Receptionist)

“Are both groups 10 minutes each?” (Kouta)

“Yep, that’s right.” (Receptionist)

“Then, we’ll wait.” (Kouta)

“Alright then, wait seated near the appraisal room. Reservation under Fujikawa okay?” (Receptionist)

“Yes, please. Isn’t this process kind of tough though?” (Kouta)

I couldn’t help but ask.

“It is, really. The Toyota Dungeon… oops, I mean Nagoya Dungeon. The guild is still new, so a lot of stuff isn’t ready yet. They’re planning to install a number ticket machine soon. For places short on staff, we’re relying on machines!” (Receptionist)

“Even the person monitoring the appraisal room?” (Kouta)

“That part’s already been switched over! That’s why I’m here instead.” (Receptionist)

Ahh, that makes sense. Don’t want to get in the way of her work, so I’ll quietly sit and wait.

I thanked the Onee-san and sat down with Haruka-kun in the seats near the appraisal room.

“Wow, Kouta-kun, you’re friends with the guild Onee-san?” (Haruka-kun)

“Huh? Not exactly friends, she’s just a very friendly Onee-san. She’s been really busy lately so we don’t talk much, but back when I first registered, it was a lot quieter, and she looked bored most of the time.” (Kouta)

Also, very conveniently, monitoring has been switched to a machine now. That means even if we’re dancing inside the appraisal room, no one will scold us. …Dancing in the appraisal room… yeah, that’s pretty much weirdo level. Honestly, that’s entering pervert territory.

“What are you looking at, Kouta-kun?” (Haruka)

With the smartphone in one hand, while I was thinking about what to do next, it looked like I unconsciously ended up searching for dungeon info.

Habits are scary.

“An article about the dungeon seal experiment done in Italy.” (Kouta)

“Even when you’re here, you’re thinking about dungeons, huh.” (Haruka)

“Huh? We’re literally inside a guild that’s in front of a dungeon, you know? Thinking about dungeons is actually the normal thing here, right?” (Kouta)

“Hmm. I guess… that’s true?” (Haruka)

“Probably.” (Kouta)

This recent experiment in Italy was about testing a rather primitive method, sealing the dungeon entrance with concrete, to see what happens. In the end, they couldn’t seal it. Monsters that had accumulated inside burst out onto the surface all at once. But that was within expectations, so the military stationed aboveground immediately wiped them out.

As dungeons continue to increase, what will happen to the world? The growing sense of crisis is what drives these kinds of experiments.

By the way, Russia once tried destroying a dungeon using a nuclear strike. Everyone in the world had high hopes for that. The result? It only left soot and dust on the dungeon gate. Once the soot and dust were cleaned off, the gate remained exactly the same as before, according to reports.

Apparently, after that, Russia tried some other kind of attack on the dungeon, but they never revealed what it was. In fact, they even denied the attacks ever happened, claiming it was just an investigation.

National pride is fine and all, but I wish they’d at least share the experiment results.
