Chapter 38

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

I wonder if it’s what you’d call undergrowth?

Though it was buried in grass, I didn’t think there were many people who would naturally use a “treasure chest” as a chair. Since Sofia hadn’t noticed it, she had probably just sat down. Emilia didn’t seem to notice either. Mira looked too exhausted to care about anything at the moment.

It looks like I’m the only one who can point it out. I’m going to have to call out Sofia-san… hahaha. No use saying stupid things. Let’s just do it.

“But still, so it’s a magic-user build, huh? Does that mean you can start using magic right away?” (Kouta)

“No, unless… you learn magic… you shouldn’t… be able to use it… Fuu, fuu, fuu.” (Mira)

It’s Mira! Mira is recovering. I’ll leave it to her! After all, I just can’t bring it up that casually! How am I supposed to say, ‘You’re sitting on a treasure chest,’ like that!?

“I see. Then, things will be difficult for a while, won’t they?” (Emilia)

“Yeah, I think I’ll be a burden for a while, but I’ll be counting on you.” (Mira)

“Don’t worry about it. We’re all friends here, right? Once you learn magic, I’m gonna work you hard, so prepare yourself.” (Sofia)

“Fuu~ Go easy on me, will you?” (Mira)

That’s right, that’s the tough part about being a magic-user build.

A magic-user build without any magic is practically no different from being Lv 0. It wouldn’t be surprising if someone called you dead weight. But once you learn magic, you should become a great strength for the party. Still, I’ve got other things on my mind right now. I’ve been staring at Sofia’s butt for a while now.

“Hey! Kouta, it’s not very admirable to stare so hungrily at a woman’s behind, you know.” (Mira)

“Kouta?” (Sofia)

“Ko-Kouta-san…?” (Emilia)

Uweh!? Emiliaaaa!! What did you go and say!?

“N-no, it’s not like that!!” (Kouta)

Mira’s dead-eyed glare is stabbing through me! I can’t withstand this at my level! I haven’t reached the level where something like this feels like a reward! Isn’t this punishment too much for the simple mistake of putting off saying something because it was hard to bring up!?

“I just thought… you’re sitting on a treasure chest! I was just thinking I’d like to open it, maybe… is that okay…? That’s all!” (Kouta)

I pointed not at Sofia’s butt, but underneath, pleading my innocence.

“Eh?” (Sofia)

““Ah!?”” (Everyone)

It looked like everyone had finally noticed.
