To the Eastern Country

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

A few days after the Adventurer Guild opened.

Finally, the day of departure for Stella, Nana, and Marcosias arrived. Early in the morning, they would shoot out vroom! from the rooftop of my house and head toward the Elf country. Although it wasn’t raining, the clouds were thick and the wind was somewhat cold.

Marcosias, in the form of a puppy, was set on Stella’s torso. She was wrapped in a cloth with magical protection and being carried in that state. Besides that, Durandal and Fragarach were attached to her waist on the right and left. They were the important twin weapons for Stella. And even though it was just for a week, it was the first time Marcosias would be separated from Dia and Wood.

Dia, who was being held by me, was firmly stroking Marcosias and saying farewell.

“Maru-chan, make sure to help properly, piyoyo.” (Dia)

“Wafu! I’ll do my best!” (Marcosias)

“Ugo-ugo, don’t let your tummy get cold…” (Wood)

“Thanks, I’ll be careful!” (Marcosias)

Marcosias herself didn’t seem to be too pressured. Like in the play, her heart appeared to be quite strong.

“…Take care of your body, okay?” (Dia)

“Don’t eat too much either, piyoyo… And Kaa-sama, please stay well, piyoyo.” (Dia)

Stella ruffled Dia’s teary head firmly.

“Dia is a good child. We’ll return in a week, so please don’t worry.” (Stella)

“…Piyo.” (Dia)

“Please take care of Dia, Elt-sama, Wood.” (Stella)

“Ugo-ugo, leave it to us!” (Wood)

Wood had become quite reliable. I nodded firmly as well.

“Yeah, no need to worry here. Come back safely.” (Elt)

Then, Leia had come to see Nana off.

An unexpected combination… I can’t quite grasp the sense of distance between them.

They were talking a little apart from us.

“…You came.” (Nana)

“I came because I’m worried.” (Leia)

Nana’s face was hidden by her costume, but her voice sounded a little happy.

Maybe she feels sympathy as a maker of cockatrice goods.

“It’s not really my place to say, but please don’t let your guard down. That’s all.” (Leia)

“I understand… Yeah, thank you.” (Nana)

It’s quite different from the time of Hold-niisan…

Leia turned to face Stella.

“Stella-sama, please take good care of Nana and Marcis-chan…!” (Leia)

“Yes, of course…!” (Stella)

Nana left Leia and came toward us. I made sure to speak firmly to Nana.

“Nana, take care of Stella. I’m counting on you.” (Elt)

“Let’s do our best with Okaa-san, piyoyo!” (Nana)

“Ugo, be careful and have a good trip!” (Wood)

Nana nodded firmly in response to our words.

“Thank you. It’s just a short trip, but I’ll come back without injury.” (Nana)

After saying that, Nana moved behind Stella. With a swift motion, Nana swung her hand, and a belt appeared in her palm. She must have taken it out from magical storage. Then, she fixed herself and Stella together with the belt.

“All set! This is good!” (Nana)

“Well then…! We’ll be off!” (Stella)

Stella stood at attention crisply and stepped forward firmly. In an instant, Stella jumped up high into the sky. This was a sight we had grown accustomed to from practice.

Just a little more, just a little more…

A glittering red light shimmered, and Stella and the others shot off with a vroom. Leaving a red trail across the sky.

After a short moment of quiet sentiment, Wood spoke up.

“Ugo, rain…?” (Wood)

Drops of rain started to fall here and there.

“Piyo. The wind is getting stronger too, piyoyo.” (Dia)

“Yeah, the wind’s picking up…” (Elt)

Dia’s fluffy fur fluttered in the wind. Leia held down her cockatrice hat and said,

“…It seems like it’s raining in the direction the three went.” (Leia)

“…” (Elt)

Indeed, the red trail was heading into the rain clouds. Dia trembled and shook.

“Piyo…!? Are you alright, piyoyo?” (Nana)

“They had rain gear stored, so it should be okay.” (Elt)

“That’s good, piyoyo!” (Nana)

“Ugo, that’s a relief!” (Wood)

Then, the wind gradually grew stronger.

Hmm… I’ve been thinking somehow… Stella might actually be unlucky, like when she turned into a wooden statue…

After seeing Stella and the others off, I headed to the Adventurer Guild. I left Dia’s care to Wood. For a while, it would be a back-and-forth between working at home and working at the Adventurer Guild. Even though I didn’t have to work every day, I felt restless.

The staff had already started working inside the guild. The shiny floors and walls, the beautiful desks and chairs. Since a fair amount of investment was made, it looked like a hotel lounge. I greeted the staff and went up to the guild’s second floor. This area was for staff only.

Hmm, Naru is already here.

“Nya, good morning nya!” (Naru)

“Good morning, Naru.” (Elt)

About ten staff were doing paperwork or sorting materials bought from adventurers. No particular problems around here. Since we got know-how from Zanzas, things were running smoothly.

Again, I really think it was good we opened the Adventurer Guild. It’s because now we can share formats for documents and data on materials purchased. Also, information on nearby monster appearances and dungeons around the world came in fast. Basically, as much info as possible is quickly gathered. Of course, there is a price for that, but the speed is incomparable to ordinary books.

“Nya… The three have departed, nya?” (Naru)

“Yeah, they flew off safely.” (Elt)

“To the Eastern Country, that’s quite far, nya… Making a round trip in a week is impressive, nya.” (Naru)

“I think it wouldn’t be possible without Stella…” (Elt)

If you tried to use super acceleration on the ground, you’d definitely crash into the ground or something.

Something discovered during test flights of super acceleration. When Marcosias was in girl form, control was fairly precise like how she didn’t bump into things inside the house at first. But it caused significant fatigue, and the range was shorter. It wasn’t suitable for long distances. In puppy form, control was almost non-existent, but fatigue was greatly reduced and the distance increased. In that case, she couldn’t use it without assistance.

I think it was like this in the game too. I don’t remember well, but the movement differed depending on the form.

“Anyway, it’s a two-day trip one way. Then three days in the Elf country, and two days back.” (Elt)

“Nya… This is something I just quietly heard from a merchant, nya.” (Naru)

Naru lowered her voice.

I crouched a little and focused.

“Apparently, the Black Dragon Knight Order went toward the eastern border, nya.” (Naru)

“…That’s rare, to get a hold of the knights’ movements.” (Elt)

The knight order was a military organization. Their movements rarely leaked.

“Nya, it seems they’re already on the way back, so it was able to be obtained. They’re apparently near Stephen’s village, nya.” (Naru)

“Hmm? That’s…” (Elt)

Isn’t that the eastern village Stella is heading to?

“They’re supposed to lodge there on the first day.”

Gah…! So, we might run into each other there. What a mess. I hope there’s no one there planning revenge on Stella.

“Nya…” (Naru)

Naru growled as well. Though we reconciled with the Black Dragon Knight Order, I never imagined this would happen. But it might already be too late. There was no way to notify them.

“I’m sorry, nya…” (Naru)

“No, it can’t be helped. We can’t do anything about the knights’ movements. Thanks for letting me know.” (Elt)

Still, is there really such a coincidence? Things are piling up. If only Stella wouldn’t go around poking folks like Sir Tristan or start dashing toward the sunset again.

Huh? I’m not worried about Stella at all. After all, there’s no way she would lose. If anything, the opposite. If challenged, no matter what, Stella would accept and turn the tables. The tough part might be for the Black Dragon Knight Order, with Belzel-niisan there, huh…?
