Chapter 31

We, eleven boys and girls, walked deeper and deeper into the first floor of the dungeon. The crowd density at the entrance was worse than a school classroom, making it hard to believe we had actually entered a dungeon. It had gotten significantly worse compared to when I saw it earlier.

At this point, it’s basically one goblin per classroom’s worth of people…

Even our classmates, upon seeing that, were understandably dumbfounded. We quickly left that area and began walking.

“Everyone, make sure not to get separated!” (Haruka)

“To think we’d need to worry about getting lost in a crowd inside a dungeon… it’s more crowded than I expected.” (Mutou)

“No kidding.” (Another classmate)

It’s nice that Haruka-kun is leading us, but people who entered the dungeon with large groups must be having a hard time. If they chose a rendezvous point inside the dungeon… that would be a nightmare. After all, there’s no signal in the dungeon. They say time and space might be distorted around the staircase area. As we moved farther from the entrance, the number of people around us gradually decreased, but there were still several groups within sight.

“It was so empty yesterday though, wasn’t it, Kouta?” (Mutou)

“Yeah… huh? But we didn’t meet Emilia-san and the others yesterday, right?” (Kouta)

If I had seen them, even I would have remembered. That’s strange. How does she know I was in the dungeon yesterday…?

“Ahh, Kouta was sprinting at an insane speed! You disappeared before we could even call out to you!” (Emilia)

Yeah… I remember that. Thanks to [Support Magic], goblins had become easy to handle, and I had gotten carried away and went around defeating everything I saw.  To think Emilia-san and the others saw that… how embarrassing…

Just when I had begun to think that today would end as nothing more than a long walk, goblins finally appeared. Even better, there were four of them, the maximum number for the first floor.

“There they are!” (Mutou)

Mutou-kun raised his voice nervously. His voice might have been tense, but his body wasn’t trembling. He’d be fine.

“Two and two okay? Or do you want to be gentlemen and let us ladies go first?” (Emilia)

“Two each, please. Emilia-san might be fine, but the other girls… well…” (Haruka)

“Hm? Ah… I see. Thanks for the chivalrous consideration.” (Emilia)

These two are amazing! Especially Haruka-kun… this is his first real fight, and yet he’s so composed and considerate!

The other girls, aside from Emilia-san, didn’t look like they could fight at all. Even though they had been watching others fight just earlier, now that they were directly facing goblins with killing intent, some of them were trembling.

Still, that translation device gives weird results sometimes…

“Sorry, Kouta-kun…” (Haruka)

“Yeah, I’ll split them two and two.” (Kouta)

“Huh…? Oh, could I really ask that of you?” (Haruka)

Without waiting for Haruka-kun to finish, I casually stepped forward toward the goblins and forcefully split them into two groups. That should make it easier for both teams to fight. I offered just a bit more support to the girls’ side. I swept the legs of one of the goblins so they could deal with them one at a time. It was my way of imitating what Haruka-kun had just done earlier. To keep the goblins from regrouping, I positioned myself slightly toward the back center, subtly blocking their potential escape paths.
