We returned home and immediately began preparing lunch. That said, Wood and I were just in charge of cutting fruit for dessert and making drinks. The main dishes were all prepared by Stella. Unfortunately, it didn’t matter who stood beside her… things would only slow down.

Stella cooked with such speed, it left afterimages in her wake. Still, leaving everything to her wasn’t good either. So, we took care of dessert, drinks, and washing the dishes ourselves.

Marcosias and Dia, who was being held by her, walked up to Stella.

“Piyo… Is there something I can do, piyo?” (Dia)

“Eh? It’s fine to just sit and relax though…” (Stella)

Dia stretched her wings.

“Kaa-sama is going on a journey, piyo…! I want to be able to do something too, piyo.” (Dia)

“That’s what she says.” (Marcosias)

So that’s it… Ugh… that’s touching. It’s true. This is the first time since Dia was born that Stella will be away for a long time. Dia wants to become more capable in her own way too.

Stella looked happy and trembled slightly.

“Th-Then… Put on these gloves and help knead the gyoza filling…” (Stella)

“I’ll do it too!” (Marcosias)

Time to show off the kneading skills we honed with grass dumpling.

They put on gloves and started kneading. Dia, of course, wore hers on her feet…

And so, gyoza were made in this way and became our lunch. What they made were spicy stir-fry and steamed gyoza. This would likely become our signature dish. We adjusted the recipe multiple times, and the broth made from rainbow fish scales was finally blending well. It was all thanks to Stella’s creative efforts.

“It’s delicious, piyo!” (Dia)

“Ugo ugo… delicious!” (Wood)

“Spicy! But it’s delicious!” (Marcosias)

“Ah… The spiciness is mild too. This should be fine for people around here.” (Elt)

“Yes, it’s finally… come together, hasn’t it?” (Stella)

It’s been a few weeks since we first talked about it. It took quite a while. Now we just need to teach the recipe to the chefs… and make sure it’s ready in time for the Adventurer Guild’s opening. The interior of the Adventurer Guild will also be completed at a rapid pace after the holidays. It looks like we’ll make it in time for the New Year opening.

After lunch, we headed up to the rooftop. We’d handle the swallows on-site, but since our method of travel was unusual… They wanted to test it first. I agreed.

It’s definitely best to test thoroughly beforehand.

The wind blew a little strong, and thick clouds covered parts of the sky. Lined up in front of an enthusiastic Stella were me, Wood, and Dia. Marcosias, in puppy form, had been sloppily strapped to Stella’s body.

Apparently they’ll do it properly later.

“So then, we’ll now test the Vroom Plan using Maru-chan’s super acceleration.” (Stella)

“Wafu~” (Marcosias)

*Clap clap clap*

We clapped for no real reason.

Mood is important. Though I’ve got a bad feeling about this… yeah…

“The method is simple. Maru-chan, I’ll jump as hard as I can, so when I reach the peak, activate your super acceleration.” (Stella)

With that, Stella turned to face the east.

“If I remember correctly, the super acceleration goes in the direction Maru-chan’s head is pointing. This should be fine!” (Stella)

“Got it!” (Marcosias)

“Is this… really okay…?” (Elt)

This seems like an insanely dangerous thing to do so casually…

“In the past, Maru-chan was in her big wolf form, and I would ride on her back, but…” (Stella)

“That’s totally different, piyo…” (Dia)

Dia tilted her head too.

Yeah, it’s completely different…

“It’s fine…! I got banged up a lot back then too, but I was completely unharmed!” (Stella)

“U-Uh… Just be careful, alright…?” (Elt)

Not sure how she’s supposed to be careful though. Still, it’s Stella. She’s absurdly tough. That much I can trust.

“Alright then… Here I go!” (Stella)

Stella crouched slightly and charged power into her legs.

Then… bam! She shot upward.

“Ugo… Amazing…” (Wood)

“So high, piyo…” (Dia)

“Yeah…” (Elt)

Ten, maybe fifteen meters straight up? Not humanly possible… She shot up like she was leaping to the rooftop of a building.

*Shiiing!*

Looking up, a red light streaked through the sky. She activated the super acceleration. It looked like a beautiful contrail.

“Wow… So fast, piyo.” (Dia)

Hard to gauge the distance exactly, but yeah, that’s fast. Way beyond a horse-drawn carriage.

The red trail flew straight toward the eastern plains… then vanished.

The effect must’ve ended. She’ll probably reactivate it and keep flying.

“Ugo, it flashed.” (Wood)

“It was red, piyo~” (Dia)

*Shiiing!*

Another red flash burst in midair.

So, she’s chaining it together to travel distance after all. It seems kind of exhausting though…

“Ugo, the angle…” (Wood)

“Hm?” (Elt)

The moment I responded to Wood’s voice, I saw the red trail angle downward… toward the ground.

“Ah.” (Elt)

“Piyo!?” (Dia)

*Zuuuuunnnn*

A deep sound echoed as the red trail plunged into the ground. The angle had been off, and she’d slammed into the earth.

“She’s dead, piyo~!?” (Dia)

“This is bad…!” (Elt)

“Ugo, she crashed!” (Wood)

We panicked, but then the red light flashed again.

*Shiiing!*

“…Is she okay, piyo?” (Dia)

“Looks like it… She’s headed this way.” (Elt)

The red trail reached above the rooftop… then disappeared.

*Stop!*

There stood a dust-covered Stella and Marcosias. They seemed unharmed.

“I’m back…!” (Stella)

“Wafu~! I made it back!” (Marcosias)

“You’re alive, piyo…?” (Dia)

“Are you alright?” (Elt)

“Ugo, are you hurt…?” (Wood)

As we all spoke at once, Stella scratched her cheek, looking embarrassed.

“I got a bit dusty, but I’m fine!” (Stella)

“Mother protected me with her guard skill, so I’m totally unharmed!” (Marcosias)

Marcosias raised both front paws to emphasize her point.

Cute. Wait no, that’s not the issue… Is this plan itself really okay?

“By the way, didn’t Dia say she wanted to fly too…?” (Elt)

“G-Giku, piyo!” (Dia)

Dia flinched and ran over to me.

*Pyon. Mofu.*

She jumped into my chest.

“Huh…? Dia?” (Elt)

“I want a little more safety, piyo…! It’s still too early for me, piyo!” (Dia)

“That’s what she said.” (Elt)

She did see the crash… Even if they’re unharmed, I get it. I trust Stella, but this probably isn’t for everyone.

“Gaaaan!” (Stella)

“…Ugo, it looks kinda fun to me…” (Wood)

“Onii-chan!?” (Dia)

Wood quietly raised his hand. Stella smiled and beckoned him over.

“Come on, come on!” (Stella)

“Will you really be okay…?” (Elt)

“This much is totally fine…!” (Stella)

Stella carried Wood on her back. Wood was two meters tall, so it seemed pretty reckless… But Stella’s footing was solid. Apparently, Wood’s weight was no problem at all.

“Alright, we’ll be back in a bit!” (Stella)

“O-Okay… Be careful.” (Elt)

“Onii-chan, you’re brave, piyo.” (Dia)

Stella once again made a huge jump and vroom-ed off with a red trail. Dia, still in my arms, spoke with deep emotion.

“This is how they’re going to reach the north too, piyo…” (Dia)

“Nana, huh? Yeah, that’s right…” (Elt)

“It’s gonna be hard, piyo. Kaa-sama’s trip home…” (Dia)

“W-Well… it should be fine. Nana’s strong too.” (Elt)

That said, I should probably explain this method of travel to Nana beforehand. If I were told we’re doing this kind of travel on the day of, I’d probably faint. Even variety shows offer better transportation than this…

*Zuuuuunnnn.*

Ah, while I was thinking, she crashed again.

…Looks like practice is still needed.

“Again, piyo.” (Dia)

“W-Well… she’s probably okay, right?” (Elt)

“Piyo, the light flashed again, piyo…!” (Dia)

*Shiiing!*

And just like that, we spent the afternoon doing red-trail practice over and over…

We explained to the villagers that it was Stella’s combat training, and they accepted it.

With this, travel to and from the north should be perfect! Probably.
