Chapter 15

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

We did a Q&A session while walking toward the guild.

“My name’s Kouta. Fujikawa Kouta. ‘Fujikawa’ is my family name, and ‘Kouta’ is my given name. I’d like you to call me Kouta, since I’m more used to that.” (Kouta)

“Got it, Kota then.” (Sofia)

“No, Sofia. It’s Kouta.” (??)

“Huh? Kota, right? What’s different?” (Sofia)

Ah, looks like the auto-translation device can’t quite handle proper name pronunciation. That’s an unexpected weakness. Still, reproachful eye-san is amazing. Her pronunciation is perfect. Must be because she has a good ear?

They say people who can speak multiple languages can do that. They can catch and pronounce voiced or semi-voiced sounds that don’t exist in Japanese. Well, I guess if you can’t hear it, you can’t pronounce it. Makes sense.

“It’s fine, Sofia-san. You’re saying it clearly enough, so please don’t worry.” (Kouta)

Sofia-san still looked curious about what exactly was different.

Seriously, don’t worry about it.

So, I tried shifting the conversation in a different direction.

“Mira-san, your hearing is really good, huh?” (Kouta)

I was referring to reproachful eyed-san, even though she wasn’t doing her reproachful glares today.

I’m doing my best to talk with a smile. I’ve been tense this whole time, so my smile might’ve come out a bit stiff, but I hope they let it slide. After all, I’ve never had a conversation surrounded by foreign women before. And they’re beautiful, too!? No, I’ve never been surrounded by Japanese women either, to be honest…

I’ve been thinking stupid things like that, but then they suddenly stopped responding, looking a bit bewildered. What’s going on? They were chatting just fine a moment ago…

Mira-san had covered her ears and turned a little red.

“Kouta, are you an ear fetishist?” (Mira)

“Huh!?” (Kouta)

Yeah, a weird sound just came out of me.

I hurried to explain myself.

It must’ve been a translation error, but come on, seriously!? Translation device! Do your job properly!!

“Ohh, I see! I was totally shocked at your sudden coming out!” (Sofia)

“Ahaha… I guess even the translation device isn’t perfect, so it can’t be helped.” (Kouta)

I was the one who was absolutely dying of shock over here!!

“Ah, I get it now. So, you prefer me over Sofia or Emilia… makes me think you’ve got some dangerous and unusual tastes.” (Mira)

Mira-san, that was way too harsh! So, the translation device can translate properly… why’d it mess up only that one time!?

“Don’t say stuff like that, Mira. I’m sure you’ll meet someone good too, okay!” (Sofia)

Sofia-san suddenly tried to rope me into agreeing, and I hastily nodded. It was a tricky spot to comment on, so that helped a lot.

“Well, we don’t have boyfriends either, you know! If we did, we wouldn’t be diving into dungeons as a group of three girls, right?” (Emilia)

“That’s true.” (Sofia)

So even they don’t have boyfriends… They’re both beautiful, and someone like me has no chance at all but still, just a little… just a little, I’m kind of happy.

Apparently, that showed on my face.

“Young man, do your best.” (Mira)

Mira-san said with her signature reproachful eyes expression.

Hey, ‘young man’? Just how old do you think you are, anyway!?
