Standing Ovation

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

Wood held the resurrection potion. Seeing that, Marcosias raised her voice.

“Ho, to think you were carrying something like that…!?” (Marcosias)

“I won’t let you interfere!” (Wood)

“Your opponent is me!” (Hattori)

Lalatoma’s ice magic and Hattori’s handstand-balancing swordsmanship attacked Marcosias. Marcosias evaded while stepping lightly.

“Ugo… This potion is a family treasure. You once saved me. Now it is my turn to save you.” (Wood)

“…Piyo.” (Dia)

Dia gave a performance as if all life had drained from her.

Hmm… A good performance, but what is it? Somehow, that acting looks familiar… Hmmm? Something about it is bothering me. Ah! That’s it, it’s like Stella right after she wakes up! That dazed look Stella has at that time… Dia resembles it!

I see… So, Dia based it on that moment with Stella. …Stella probably has no idea, but still… it’s definitely similar.

“Ugo… Here, drink this.” (Wood)

Wood brought the small bottle to Dia’s mouth.

There is also a version where it’s a mouth-to-mouth scene, but… that one wasn’t used, huh… This part should be acted out with deep emotion. If I remember right, that’s how it was written.

“Gulp gulp, piyo…” (Dia)

And thus, the potion was used on Dia. At the same time, the orchestra began to play an increasingly upbeat tune. Taking this opportunity, the dragon and fire effects left the stage.

“Piyo… I…!?” (Dia)

Dia slowly raised her face.

*Jajaaan*

The cymbals clashed boldly.

“You are… Which means, I am… piyo.” (Dia)

“Ugo, you were on the brink of death. But it’s okay now…!” (Wood)

“That thing in your hand… it was for me… piyo.” (Dia)

“Don’t worry about it. I simply did what I had to… Ugo.” (Wood)

Stella stood tall and faced Marcosias bravely. The audience burst into cheers once more. Stella said something like “I… came back to life!”.

Well, there’s no other way to put it.

“Damn you, so you’ve returned! I’ll send you back to the depths of hell!” (Marcosias)

“Ugo, I won’t let that happen!” (Wood)

“I was… wrong. I’m not alone anymore, piyo!” (Dia)

Stella joined the fray, making this the final battle, for real. From here on, it could be called the climax.

“Haaaah… piyo!” (Dia)

With a burst of spirit, Dia leapt forward. This resurrected Stella had to be even more full of life than the original Stella. More intense, more vibrant with the energy of life.

“Nuuh, this movement is…!” (Marcosias)

For the first time, Marcosias showed signs of panic. Yes, Dia didn’t just come back to life. When Wood stepped forward, Dia followed up. When Dia moved ahead, Wood covered her flank. It was coordination. Each of them had danced on their own, but now the young noble, his servant, and Stella moved as one. That unity became power, and they pushed Marcosias into a corner.

“Impossible! Where did these people gain such strength?” (Marcosias)

“Hahaha! This is the strength of humans!” (Wood)

“That’s right! We’re starting to see your movements clearly now!” (Dia)

As the humans gained momentum, Marcosias’s movements gradually slowed. Meanwhile, the Nyaff tribe members occasionally snuck off with parts of her armor.

“Ugo, Marcosias… pant, pant… the one who’s finished… is you!” (Wood)

“One is weaker than two. But with everyone’s power, piyo!” (Dia)

Dia twirled as she danced. She was the fastest, the most piyo-piyo of all. It was pretty tough, especially while holding a bat. But she dashed across the stage with precision. She gave it her all. Wood, Marcosias… and of course, Lalatoma and Hattori, who also performed. Leia, Brown, the adventurer in his thirties, the Nyaff tribe, and the orchestra. There were so many people wove this play together.

“Ugh… I do not know the word ‘defeat’!” (Marcosias)

“Ugo, then today you’ll learn it!” (Wood)

Marcosias stood center stage. Dia circled to the right, Wood flanked to the left. At last, this final strike would end it.

“Seyaaa… piyo!” (Dia)

“Ugo… ooooooh!!” (Wood)

Synchronizing their timing, they leapt at the Marcosias at center stage.

“Uoooooooh!!” (Wood & Dia)

Wood and Dia crossed paths as Marcosias’s armor was stripped away… The Nyaff tribe had deftly removed it. Marcosias fell to one knee. The audience behind them watched with bated breath.

Marcosias shouted with her last strength.

“So, this… is the power of humans?! A strength I do not possess?!” (Marcosias)

“Ugo… That’s right, Marcosias. You are strong. But you’re strong alone. I have everyone with me.” (Wood)

“Piyo…” (Dia)

Dia gazed at Wood with passionate eyes.

Well, the flow of the story means Stella’s heart has been swayed too…

“I see… That was my mistake. Fuhahaha… Very well. I acknowledge it. This pleasant feeling of defeat. This moment of destruction bestowed upon me!” (Marcosias)

Marcosias used her bat as a cane and stood.

“If you intend to defeat the Demon King, then try it! I shall watch over your fate from the depths of hell!” (Marcosias)

*Jajaaaan!!*

A crashing cymbal pierced the air.

And with that, Marcosias fell flat on her back.

“Ugo, we won…” (Wood)

“No… This is only the beginning, piyo.” (Dia)

“Ugo… Yeah. The Demon King is still out there. The battle continues.” (Wood)

“…” (Dia)

“What do you say? Will you come with us? I feel like we could defeat the Demon King… Ugo.” (Wood)

Lalatoma and Hattori added in after Wood.

“I ask as well. Your strength is truly magnificent.” (Lalatoma)

“Hahaha! If you came with us, it’d be such a relief!” (Hattori)

Upon hearing this, Dia took a step forward.

“…Thank you. Let’s definitely defeat the Demon King together, piyo!” (Dia)

“Ugo… I swear it on this sword!” (Wood)

Wood raised the bat high overhead. At two meters tall, he made quite the figure. Then, the Nyaff tribe members brought out screens with cloth draped over them from the side of the stage. There was no curtain, so this was how they closed the scene. Once the stage was completely hidden, Leia stepped in front of the screen and delivered the closing line in a calm voice.

“…And so, the young noble and Stella connected their hearts and set out to defeat the Demon King!” (Leia)

*Clap clap clap!!*

“Wooooah!!” (Spectator)

“That was amazing!” (Spectator)

Looking back, the entire audience had risen to their feet and was applauding. It was a true standing ovation. Stella and I also stood up and gave an unreserved round of applause.

Amazing. They’ve grown so much.

Looking beside me, Audrey, Clarissa, Nana, and Yaya were all standing and clapping.

Hold… remained seated. No, he gripped his seat tightly and stood.

“Excellent!!” (Hold)

With the eyes of a critic, he praised them.

“Elegant…! Unconventional and entertaining!” (Hold)

He turned to me and said so. There was no hint of falsehood in his eyes or words.

“Everyone gave their best, but… especially the girl who played Marcosias clearly has talent. It’s strange. That role should be incredibly difficult for someone that young.” (Hold)

*Gulp*

Hold continued his critique while still applauding. He praised Dia as Stella, the action sequences, and more. Most of it was positive.

The bat… might have been a little too avant-garde. But… somehow, hearing my older brother praise the play the whole village worked to create… I was really, really happy.
