Chapter 9
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
I finally defeated one goblin. I felt relieved to see that the dropped plastic bottle hadn’t vanished into the dungeon yet. I picked it up, sat down, and quenched my thirst. Even though it was just one goblin, honestly, I was exhausted.
As I checked the spots where I had been hit by the wooden stick, I held a little self-reflection session. The places where I had been struck were slightly red but that was it. At this rate, it probably wouldn’t swell or bruise.
Thank goodness for DEF 6.
Looking back now, it had been a flurry of chaos. While I had hesitated, the goblin had come at me without a shred of hesitation, swinging its wooden stick. Normally, if it were a human, they would consider the other person’s pain, and either consciously or unconsciously hold back a little. But with the goblin, there was absolutely none of that.
It was just pure hostility, malice, and murderous intent. Of course, that didn’t mean I was especially sensitive to those things. There was always at least one person like that in class, the type that gives off a nasty vibe. Even people like that usually have at least a bit of social sense. But goblins were different. Goblins probably didn’t even think of violence as a bad thing.
It’s not like I want to completely deny violence. I get that sometimes it’s necessary, to protect yourself, to maintain order. Still… it’s not something you should use lightly.
But the goblin was innocently evil.
That thing and I… we’ll never understand each other. It’s like that thought’s been carved into me.
But it hadn’t all been bad. Thanks to the goblin attacking without hesitation, I had also been able to cast aside my own. From now on, I would probably be able to kill goblins without a shred of hesitation.
It’d be nice if the sensation felt like prepping braised pork. You stab a block of pork belly with a fork so the flavor soaks in better. I think it also helps it shrink less or maybe not.
I still couldn’t get the unpleasant sensation of that hand out of my mind.

“Huh? A person.” (???)
“Too bad, not a goblin~.” (???)
“Oh well, let’s move on.” (???)
I had been looking down, so I was slow to notice people approaching. When I looked up, there were three women standing there.
“Ah, um… hello…” (Kouta)
I gave a light nod in greeting.
“You’re taking a break, right? It’s fine, it’s fine, just stay seated.” (??)
All three of them were foreigners.
In order from tallest, the first was a stunning beauty with light brown hair, so tall she could’ve been a model, with skin that looked like she might be Hispanic, slightly yellowish but otherwise like a white woman. The one in the middle who spoke to me was taller than me but not model-level tall, with big green eyes and long golden hair. Among the three, she had the best figure.
Super beautiful!
The third woman was clearly shorter than me, had a slender frame, and seemed to naturally have a reproachful glare as a default expression. She was staring at me with those eyes now.
“Hey, did you already hunt all the goblins around here?” (??)
“No… I just defeated one a little while ago.” (Kouta)
“I see. Thanks. We’ll go look around.” (??)
Even though I was nervous, I managed to answer the model-like woman’s question somehow.
“See you!” (??)
The beautiful one waved at me, so I waved back. Even the one with reproachful glare one gave a little flutter of her hand.
That person… kept the reproachful glare the whole time.
