I was guided into a partitioned area by the Onee-san. I had done my research beforehand, so I knew that behind this partition was the rare item used for appraisal. Even so, I couldn’t help but feel nervous, perhaps because this would determine my future, or maybe because I was a boy?

Both seem possible, so I can’t say for sure.

The Onee-san handed me the item and explained how to use it. All I had to do was hold it in my hand and look through the monocle lens at myself. Knowing that this single-lens monocle was an absurdly expensive item made it impossible to stop my hand from trembling as I received it.

Since I hadn’t defeated any monsters yet, my Lv was 0. Martial Skills were like special moves, but they were obtained when leveling up, so not having any at this stage was normal. Same with magic. These stats represented all of my current ability.

Only Dexterity stood out, as it was double the rest. Everything else was a flat 9 across the board.

I doubt this means I have particularly high stats. I’ve heard that people who have worked hard already tend to start with higher initial stats. Even then, I’ve also heard that they still can’t match people who’ve leveled up.

So, this is who I am right now. One day, I’ll make those kinds of people eat their words.
