Right Before the Subjugation
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
That evening. I actually tried making the ignition potion, and there were no particular problems. The quality also seemed good. I used one, and the effect was the same as in the game. When thrown, it flared up violently for several seconds and then disappeared. If it hit a Flower Archer in the torso, it could burn its weak point, which was the flower, and kill it.
Furthermore, if I added materials, it could be upgraded to something like a Blaze Potion, but it seemed unnecessary to go that far. What was fortunate was that the method for making the ignition potion was part of a pharmacist’s basic skillset. All the pharmacists in this village could make it. That meant the rest was just mass production. I was also taught the specific shape and thickness for the shields, so the arrangements were complete.
Hmm… what is needed was a rectangular shield or what they call a tower shield. It’s the kind you often see in fantasy movies.
This, too, could mostly be made using plant magic, but there was one problem. I couldn’t reproduce the grip section because I couldn’t picture it clearly. Shields were not familiar items in Japan and the handle of a shield didn’t leave much impression. Even when Leia brought a real one, it didn’t help.
“I haven’t held many shields myself… I can generate the rectangular shield body like I would a wooden board.” (Elt)
“No, no… this is more than enough. Honestly, even just a board would’ve worked. We adventurers can make the handle parts ourselves.” (Anaria)
“…Is that so? Everyone’s really handy.” (Elt)
At my words, Anaria nodded. She had already made several ignition potions and was quite cheerful.
“Basic equipment repair was a required subject, right? Zanzas adventurers have high standards.” (Anaria)
“Exactly. If we have wood, we can make it quickly.” (Adventurer)
“I see… then, we should make it in time for the shields. If we have any leeway, let’s make all kinds of recovery potions as well.” (Elt)
“Thank you very much…! Still, Elt-sama’s plant magic really is useful. Being able to produce wood as long as you have mana… in a village like this, you could build houses and fortresses endlessly. In a war-torn era, it would’ve been even more valuable.” (Anaria)
That part, I should probably say, was actually for the best. This world was very peaceful. There was something called the World Union, and wars between nations had not happened in a long time. Mass outbreaks of monsters, a Stampede, were much more of a concern.
Even those were handled well by the Adventurer Guild under direct control of the World Union. Personally, I didn’t particularly like war. Living quietly as a lord like that suited me much better. Even so, nobles were still told they needed to know combat magic. I did understand that reclaiming land lost during Stampedes was important.
While I was thinking that, maybe because she overheard our conversation, Dia raised her voice.
“Piyo! I can eat lots of vegetables, piyo!” (Dia)
“That’s right. Is that the best part for you, Dia?” (Elt)
“And straw futons too, piyo!” (Dia)
She’s so cute. Tonight, I’ll play a lot with Stella and Wood too. Lately, that has really been something I look forward to.
By the way, Marcosias had a mental meltdown. Apparently, she had pushed past his limit trying to master piyo-speak.

At the same time, Stella and the others were engaged in intense training. The ones training hard were mainly the newly arrived adventurers. At first, the visiting adventurers had both tension and excitement. To train and fight alongside someone known as a hero, Stella, was a great honor. However, they also held a certain unease.
Stella’s name was too famous. It could be said she was known worldwide. That was why people wondered just how true her reputation really was how much of it was fact. It might the stories in books or plays were too exaggerated.
Was she really such a remarkable adventurer? It was not unreasonable. Stella’s name itself was legendary. It was hard to fully believe unless one saw her in person. Could she really strike back at that moving lightning so easily? Could she really shatter a golem’s core without effort? This time was no different.
To strike back at a Flower Archer’s projectile and not just deflect it, but hit the flower part every time. That did not seem like something a human could do. But it was the truth. Within these few hours, the adventurers had learned. Everything told in Stella’s name was fact. Their instincts told them that a real S-rank adventurer was standing before them.
She returned the balls thrown by Wood with perfect accuracy. The balls, which even surpassed Flower Archers in speed, were effortlessly struck by Stella.
“Damn… Stella-san is hitting them back perfectly…” (Adventurer)
“…Yeah, can someone really do that…?” (Adventurer)
That was the normal reaction. And she had been doing this for hours. Many of the adventurers were already worn out. Yet Stella didn’t even seem out of breath. She occasionally walked around to instruct others. Other than that, she spent her time adjusting her own form. Her stamina and skill were extraordinary. This was what it meant to be S-rank, Stella, made the difference in rank overwhelmingly clear.
To those adventurers, the adventurer in his thirties spoke.
“Hey, how’s it going? Starting to get used to the motion and timing?” (Adventurer)
“Yes… somewhat. Thanks to all this…” (Adventurer)
“That’s good to hear. So, what do you think? Our captain’s amazing, right?” (Adventurer)
“…Yes. Honestly, I didn’t expect this much…” (Adventurer)
Stella’s strength was purely in her physical ability and technique. It was a kind of strength that became clear just by spending a little time with her.
“She’s reassuring, to put it bluntly.” (Adventurer)
“Right? And apparently, Elt-sama will be joining in for the second half. That means this’ll be a breeze.” (Adventurer)
“The lord himself…?” (Adventurer)
“Yeah. He’s young, but he’s responsible. We’ve got plenty of potions too. Just do your best without pushing too hard.” (Adventurer)
The adventurers chatted among themselves, praising Elt’s initiative and feeling reassured that the plan would succeed.
“…That’s impressive. For a noble to fight personally…” (Adventurer)
“Normally, for a Flower Archer subjugation of this scale, it would take months. Master Leia said we’d do it in a week…” (Adventurer)
“Yeah, we might even have time left over…” (Adventurer)
Stella’s strength went without saying. And Wood’s physical ability was far beyond normal. Standing two meters tall with endless stamina. Plus, Flower Archer projectiles didn’t affect him. Wood was also strong. Very dependable. Hearing the adventurers’ words, the adventurer in his thirties smiled broadly.
“In just a bit, the sun will set, and training will end. After that… we’ve got something to look forward to.” (Adventurer)
“W-what? Is there something in this village?” (Adventurer)
“Yeah, something special… something you can only enjoy here.” (Adventurer)
The veteran adventurer smiled meaningfully.
“…Gulp.” (Adventurer)
“You might be surprised at first, but don’t worry. It’ll blow away your fatigue. Even that Leia is secretly looking forward to it…” (Adventurer)
“F-for real…? That’s the same Leia who does nothing but work unless she’s messing with Cockatrice goods…?” (Adventurer)
“There’s a rumor she doesn’t even drink or smoke…” (Adventurer)
The adventurers held their breath, and the veteran added, pointing toward the Large Tree Tower.
“Let’s hit the soil bath.” (Adventurer)
