Naming

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

It was a relief that Stella and the others returned safely. This time as well, they brought back a large number of immigrants and supplies. Though the people who came here for the first time were a little surprised by the Dryad buried in the ground.

I’m not some pervert who enjoys burying people. So, please try not to mention the top of the adventurer’s head who was buried along with the Dryad. Humans go through all sorts of things. Sometimes they want to be buried out of hope.

Now then, both the partnership and the immigration have progressed as planned, or rather, beyond expectations. We’re going to have a rich variety of people coming.

As a reward and to show appreciation, I gathered the three who accomplished this major task at my house.

“First of all, good job. I’m glad it ended without any issues. It looks like the partnership will go well too, so this is a big success.” (Elt)

“We are honored, nya. But the success is thanks to Elt-sama’s good eye for choosing Stella, nya.” (Naru)

“Exactly. Because she was the face of our group, the discussions ended very smoothly.” (Anaria)

“That’s great to hear. As expected, the title of S-rank adventurer is no joke. Stella, you really did well.” (Elt)

“Thank you very much.” (Stella)

When I said that, Stella gave a gentle smile.

…Hmm, her atmosphere seems a bit different. Going to Zanzas must have been difficult. I suppose I’ll give them a special bonus.

While the three were in Zanzas, I secretly prepared something. I stood up and took out three small wooden boxes from the shelf. Inside were gemstones I bought from Brown. They won’t be a bother, and I figured they’d be happy to receive them.

“This is just a small token. Please accept it.” (Elt)

“Nnya, thank you very much, nya!” (Naru)

“It is an honor… I humbly accept.” (Anaria)

Naru and Anaria expressed their thanks and received them politely. However, only Stella hesitated to take the box.

“…I’ve already received so much in various ways.” (Stella)

“Hmm… There’s no need to hold back. This is what I consider fair compensation for this trip.” (Elt)

“But–…” (Stella)

“You could just spend it freely. You can buy anything at Naru’s place. Easy to splurge.” (Elt)

“Indeed nya, money is meant to circulate nya. Even people who can’t think of what to use it on can enjoy our services nya.” (Naru)

“If you really can’t accept it… Hmm. Then how about I make a statue of you in this domain?” (Elt)

“Fweh!? I-I understand…” (Stella)

Stella is really quite stoic. As an S-rank adventurer, she must have earned a lot, but she doesn’t seem to be living extravagantly. Well, perhaps that’s just due to the era she lived in.

At any rate, I gave them what I needed to.

Now then… time to check the list of immigration applicants. Heh heh, I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of people have come.

Meanwhile, at the Large Tree Tower. Fields spread around the tower. Colorful crops had already began to ripen in the fields.  Thanks to the Dryads’ care, the crops grew at an astonishing speed. In the fields, the Dryads were watering with watering cans. They were also adding fertilizer made by crushing rainbow fish scales.

Tetetoka and Brown were moving through these fields while riding on Wood’s shoulders. From the shoulders of the two-meter-tall Wood, they had a clear view of the fields.

“With this, it’ll be a big harvest soon nya!” (Naru)

“Yes. Tomatoes, lettuce, green peppers, cucumbers… These fast-growing crops grow even faster here.” (Anaria)

“They’re home garden vegetables, nya. Amazing that they grow regardless of the season, nya…” (Naru)

“Ugougo, so much green!” (Wood)

“To think the field was just a grass plain when we came…” (Naru)

The soil maintained by the Dryads not only accelerated growth but also ignored seasonality. This resulted in a scene impossible in ordinary fields.

“For us, it’s surprising that some plants can’t grow in certain seasons. Here, everything grows so easily.” (Anaria)

“That’s how it is in Dryad knowledge, nya. They really are plant experts nya.” (Naru)

Crops that grow outside their season carry high value. Currently, even if we mass-produce healberries, potion production still can’t keep up. Also, it seems even Dryads struggle to care for magical plants.

“Still, I never knew growing Healberries repeatedly ruins the soil, nya.” (Naru)

“It kind of loses its power. The soil gets all mushy.” (Anaria)

“Nnya, we’ll just have to adjust for that, nya.” (Naru)

As they spoke, Wood approached the edge of the fields. Beyond that was the secret spot. It was the health area where people were buried in the earth. Thanks to improvements, it now resembled a sand bath in appearance. This was Elt’s suggestion.

Although the Dryads still buried themselves vertically. Apparently, lying down and covering themselves with dirt didn’t feel comfortable to them. There was now a simple roof, making it resistant to sudden rain. Even now, ten adults were soaking in what was more of a soil bath than a sand bath.

“For the Nyaff tribe, our fur is important nya… I’m starting to worry about shedding lately, nya.” (Naru)

“Shall we schedule you in soon? It feels refreshing.” (Anaria)

“Ugougo, dirt feels nice!” (Wood)

“Nya… Maybe I’ll try it next day off nya.” (Naru)

The soil baths were now by reservation, thanks to Elt. Word had spread, and more people wanted to enter.

“I’ll make a reservation for you.” (Anaria)

“Please do, nya.” (Naru)

At this point, the two hadn’t yet realized. That great potential lay not only in plants, but also in the soil baths…

After handing over the gifts, I looked through the immigration list I received from Stella and the others.

Hmm, some interesting talents are listed here.

“A scholar of fish and a water specialist, huh…” (Elt)

“They wish to investigate the untouched lake that’s been undisturbed for hundreds of years, nya.” (Naru)

That’s the lake where we fished the rainbow fish before. An adventurer brought back a scale after offering grass dumplings… but it would be best if we could raise them in captivity too. Given the fertilizer value of the scales, their priority is high.

“This is great. We’ll guide them to the lake in a few days. Next is a botanist and a forest explorer… That’s helpful too.” (Elt)

We’ve been progressing in our forest investigation, but we haven’t reached the deeper parts yet. There’s room to speed up. With more people, we can accelerate progress.

“Also, a request has come from Zanzas. They are asking for an official village name as part of our partnership.” (Anaria)

“I see, that makes sense.” (Elt)

Certainly, it’s time we had a name for external use. Now’s a good time to decide. What would be a good name…

“Village and town names are often taken from personal names, specialty goods, or distinctive geography, right?” (Elt)

“Yes, nya. Zanzas was named after an old adventurer, nya.” (Naru)

“There was even a movement to rename Zanzas to Stella for a while.” (Anaria)

“…That’s awful… gulp.” (Stella)

While Stella was trembling, I pondered.

I don’t feel comfortable naming it after myself. It just feels kind of embarrassing. A specialty product of this place… Then, there’s only one choice.

I looked out the window. Houses made of magically grown giant trees stood in rows. In the biggest of them, the Large Tree Tower, the first crops were growing. Beautiful blue fruits.

“How about calling it Healberry Village?” (Elt)

There were no objections to this name. Rather, it seemed to be the perfect fit.

…Phew, it finally feels like we’ve reached this point. But it’s still just the beginning. New people have arrived. Things I can do and want to do are expanding rapidly. My domain will only keep growing from here.
