Welcoming

Tetetoka’s fishing rod shook violently. The surface of the water was also splashing as the fish rampaged furiously.

“Ooh, oohhh! What should I do…?” (Tetetoka)

“Let go of it, nya!” (Brown)

The sudden tug had thrown Tetetoka into a panic. It was his first time fishing, so it could not be helped. As Brown said, it would be fine to let go of the rod, but that might make Tetetoka fall.

Hmm, it would be safer to use plant magic to hold him steady.

While running toward Tetetoka, I activated my plant magic. It was a spell that produced thick vines. With this, I could fix the fishing rod in place. As my magic was released, the vines quickly enveloped the rod. There was a slight creaking sound from the rod, but that was all. Plant magic was especially suited for things like securing objects. The water surface was still rough with fish trying to eat the grass dumpling, but the rod did not budge at all.

…Phew, that should take care of it. There would be no more pulling.

“Are you alright? You can let go now.” (Elt)

“Y-yes… whew…” (Tetetoka)

Tetetoka let go of the rod with a sigh of relief.

“Haah, thank you very much! I never thought it would turn out like this~.” (Tetetoka)

“I was surprised too. I did not expect the bait the dryad brought to have such an effect.” (Elt)

“The fish are still going wild, nyan. The power of the grass dumpling is tremendous, nya.” (Brown)

I wonder if the grass dumpling is still at the end of the rod. With how intense the fish are, there probably is not much of it left…

The fish had calmed a little compared to earlier, but their dense presence in the water was still clearly visible. There were still plenty of fish around the end of the rod.

“Just out of curiosity, how exactly did you make that handmade grass dumpling?” (Elt)

“Hmm? I just kneaded and mixed some herbs I picked in front of that tower into my own original blend.” (Tetetoka)

“Nyan, the herbs from the place where you all were buried?” (Brown)

“Yup yup, I massaged those well-grown herbs…” (Tetetoka)

The soil where the Dryad had been buried produced healthy plant growth. It was strong enough to revive even a buried human.

If the herbs grew in that soil, then it makes sense the fish would be drawn to them like that.

“Tetetoka, can I have one more grass dumpling?” (Elt)

“Sure. I only have a few left, but here you go~” (Tetetoka)

“Thanks… alright.” (Elt)

I tore off a piece of the grass dumpling and tossed it into the lake.

*Splash, splash!*

Fish immediately swarmed the area where I had thrown it.

…Amazing. It is completely a feeding frenzy. With the fish so aggressively gathering like this, we can probably catch them without a rod. Or rather, we can just fish using the grass dumplings alone. It seems worth trying.

I turned to Tetetoka and Brown and made a suggestion.

“If I use my magic to make an enclosure, we could probably catch a huge number of fish.” (Elt)

Meanwhile, at the Adventurer Guild of Zanzas. The building had no lavish decorations and resembled a rugged fortress. Stella’s carriage had already arrived at the entrance. Having received prior notice, the Adventurer Guild had completed their preparations to welcome her with the utmost courtesy. And it was not just them… hundreds of citizens of Zanzas were also eagerly waiting to see the envoys step down from the carriage.

Among those lined up to welcome them, one person stood out in particular, the Guildmaster. Her name was Leia, 33 years old. She was a black-haired beauty with a slender and well-trained physique. No one knew anything about her past before she became an adventurer. What was widely known was only the fact that she had become Guildmaster solely through her skill with a spear.

“Ohhh…!” (Leia)

Upon seeing Stella, Leia let out a voice of admiration.

“Thank you for the welcome.” (Stella)

“Hero Stella, to think the day would come when we could receive you…” (Leia)

Stella was the first to step down from the carriage, and her presence was almost divine. Anyone who lived in Zanzas would recognize her image from the statue. She was the exact image of that statue brought to life. It was obvious to anyone that she was the same person. It was the return of a hero after hundreds of years. This day would surely be etched into the history of Zanzas forever.

Naru and Anaria watched the moving scene from within the carriage with deep emotion. Leia, with a face sparkling like a child’s, was eagerly speaking to Stella. So, they waited inside for a moment longer.

“The always-bedheaded Leia actually did her hair properly, nya…” (Brown)

“Yeah… with all the recent potion-related troubles, she’s been constantly sleep-deprived. Just last month, she even collapsed from overwork, and now she looks so lively…” (Anaria)

“Not long ago, her eyes looked worse than a dead fish’s, nya. Now they’re shining.” (Brown)

“Well… since we had no potions, all sorts of systems were breaking down.” (Anaria)

“Nya… ah, looks like it’s about time we stepped out.” (Brown)

“Yes, let’s go.” (Anaria)

With that, the two of them also exited the carriage. Since the terms had already been thoroughly negotiated beforehand, today was more like a friendly gathering than a formal discussion. So, the entire city of Zanzas was wrapped in a mood of celebration.

Even so, the Adventurer Guild still planned to perform identity verification for Stella, just in case. However, according to the records, her fingerprints had been preserved, so it would be over quickly. The Adventurer Guild collected that kind of personal information during registration. And Naru, Anaria, and Stella had already realized it.

Making Stella the representative proxy for Elt had been the correct decision.
