Chase

“What happened…!” (Jeanne)

Jeanne could not believe her own eyes. She had been deliberately putting on an equal fight to draw in Rishu, the leader of the Arc soldiers. Then, from a separate route that had been taken by Renoir and Randal, many soldiers emerged, which was enough to shock her.

“Why have they come back? Has Arc noticed?” (Jeanne)

Was it a trouble?

No, looking more closely, she noticed that the soldiers coming out were dressed differently. Those were not Laplace’s soldiers. Jeanne paled rapidly. She had realized what was happening on the battlefield.

“Dammit! I was fooled by Randal!” (Jeanne)

Randal’s surrender had been a lie. She had been completely tricked. Most likely, Renoir and the army that had entered the separate route with him had been wiped out.

“Randal! I’m such a fool for falling for your scheme! I’ll definitely kill you!” (Jeanne)

Although she knew it was meaningless, Jeanne yelled at Randal’s soldiers, who were visible in the distance.

“General Jeanne, what should we do?” (Soldier)

“Retreat! If we stay, Lord Casablanca’s life will be in danger!” (Jeanne)

Retreating in the middle of battle was an extremely dangerous act. If the enemy moved well, it could lead to a total collapse in no time. They would lose the soldiers who were left behind. But Jeanne made a quick decision. If they stayed like this, Casablanca would be in danger. On the other hand, the soldiers who had been desperately holding off Jeanne’s large army were bewildered.

“Rishu-sama! The enemy is retreating!” (Soldier)

“Why? We were barely pushing them back… Rishu-sama?” (Soldier)

Although they were in a dangerous situation where they were about to be broken through, for some reason, Jeanne’s army had begun to retreat. It was understandable that they did not know what was going on. Amid the noisy command center, where no one understood what had happened, Rishu, who had been sitting still despite the dire situation, suddenly stood up.

“Rishu-sama, what should we do?” (Soldier)

To her subordinates, who were asking for her opinion, Rishu answered immediately.

“All units, chase them.” (Rishu)

“……” (Soldier)

Many of her subordinates showed hesitation at her command. They had fought alongside Tuel and Randal for many years, and had far more experience in battle than the adventurer Rishu. For them, the enemy retreating was far too ominous.

“Rishu-sama, we don’t know why the enemy is retreating. If we chase them recklessly, it might be a trap.” (Soldier)

They gently advised their commander, as though explaining things to an inexperienced leader. However, Rishu dismissed their warning. The one who understood what was happening on this battlefield was none other than Rishu.

“Looks like Randal played his cards well.” (Rishu)

“Randal-sama?” (Soldier)

“I’ll explain later. For now, we chase them at full speed. I’ll take full responsibility.” (Rishu)

Her subordinates were completely confused.

Why had the enemy disappeared? Had Randal, who had vanished, done something? Were they winning or losing now?

But there was no time to clear up their questions. They simply had to follow her orders. Rishu, donning her armor, commanded the pursuit.
