Rudolf, to Laplace

Having returned with the midday meal left on the tray, 3rd Unit Lily noticed Casablanca coming from the opposite side of the hallway and hastily knelt down.

“Ah, Casablanca-sama.” (Lily)

“How is Marie?” (Casablanca)

Lily frowned and shook her head.

“She won’t even properly take her meals.” (Lily)

Casablanca glanced briefly at the meal on the tray. The meal placed on the tray, Marie’s lunch, was almost completely untouched.

“I see…” (Casablanca)

After parting with Lily, Casablanca walked for a while and stopped in front of the large room where Marie was being confined.

“Marie. I’m coming in.” (Casablanca)

She knocked but there was no reply, so she entered without permission. It was a bleak room with only a bed and a chair. Marie had placed a chair by the window and was absentmindedly gazing outside.

“Marie.” (Casablanca)

After calling out several times, Marie finally turned around.

“What do you want?” (Marie)

It was an expressionless face and mechanical voice unthinkable from the previously gentle Marie.

“To, to deepen the bond of sisterhood after a long time…” (Casablanca)

Casablanca had expected Marie to be angry over the recent treatment. However, it was beyond expectations. Her attitude had changed so much it was as if she were a different person, causing even Casablanca to flinch.

“You are not my sister.” (Marie)

To Casablanca approaching with a superficial smile, Marie clearly declared.

“To attack General Tyr, who was bravely fighting in the enemy nation for Laplace, from behind is inexcusable. As long as this country continues, it will be an everlasting shame etched in history.” (Marie)

Marie hurled harsh words of criticism.

Marie herself had led the medical corps in supporting Tyr, and being captured due to Casablanca’s attack from behind, it was only natural for her to feel such rage. Since her younger sister showed more hostility than expected, Casablanca decided to become defiant.

“The Warden Household was targeting this country. I merely launched a preemptive strike. Criticism and scandal from future generations don’t concern me. Because by then I will be dead. Let the land become wild and the mountains overgrown.” (Casablanca)

Hearing those words, Marie looked at Casablanca with a pitiful, sorrowful face.

She had probably realized that the sister who had grown up with her for so long was someone completely incompatible with herself. After that, Marie no longer met eyes with Casablanca nor exchanged any words.

“Casablanca-sama. King Rudolf has arrived.” (Fran)

“Understood. I will go at once.” (Casablanca)

In the silence that dominated the room, 1st Unit Fran came to report.

Feeling awkward in the lack of conversation, Casablanca took the opportunity to leave Marie’s room.

“Marie. Eat properly and take care of your body. And witness it. Which of us, I or Ark, will win.” (Casablanca)

Finally, she said this to her younger sister.

Though the words came from sisterly concern, they might not have been conveyed well due to her clumsiness. Without rest, Casablanca headed to the audience chamber. Upon entering the room, King Rudolf was already waiting and, upon seeing her, approached with a beaming smile. The two exchanged a firm handshake.

“Queen Casablanca.” (Rudolf)

“King Rudolf. I’m glad you came.” (Casablanca)

“This time, thank you for your invitation. I came to offer my congratulations.” (Rudolf)

Casablanca prepared another luxurious chair beside the throne and had Rudolf sit in an equal position.

“We succeeded in defeating Tyr, and the momentum of the Warden family has greatly diminished. This was thanks to the cooperation of Laplace Kingdom and Kali Kingdom.” (Casablanca)

“As the King of the Kali Kingdom, I pledge unchanging friendship with the Laplace Kingdom.” (Rudolf)

Following the eastern neighboring Lureid Kingdom, the southern neighboring Kali Kingdom also became a friendly nation. Such an achievement was unprecedented in the long history of the Laplace Kingdom, and it could be said that Casablanca achieved a magnificent success as queen.

“Now, the banquet is ready. Tonight, let us forget the time and celebrate together.” (Casablanca)

Casablanca, blowing away the gloomy mood from earlier with Marie, cheerfully led Rudolf to the grand hall.
