Fafnir laughed loudly.

“Fuhahahaha! I have transcended death! No attack can harm me anymore!” (Fafnir)

Transcended death… I see.

In other words, Leon understood that it had become undead. No wonder it didn’t feel any pain at all. Undead monsters, even if their hands, feet, or in some cases, even their heads were blown off, would continue moving. So, they had to be completely destroyed. However, high-ranking undead could sometimes regenerate over time.

“But I’m glad he’s turned into an idiot. He just told me his weakness himself.” (Leon)

“What?” (Fafnir)

“—Sacred Punishment.” (Leon)

Against the undead, purification magic. It was not a specialty of the healer job that Leon had mastered. But upon reaching the highest rank of [Saint], he had learned a fair amount of purification magic.

“GYAAAAAAA!?” (Fafnir)

It was extremely effective. Fafnir writhed in agony in an easily understandable way, and in reality, his body began crumbling apart.

“Wh…Why…Why can you even use purification magic…?” (Fafnir)

“Now, rest in peace for real this time.” (Leon)

Zeta woke up. Looking around, she saw it was a familiar room. It was the living space set up at the back of the forge. At some point, she had fallen asleep in bed. She had no memory of lying down, but she probably collapsed onto the bed after working nonstop.

“I had such a weird dream…” (Zeta)

She sighed while sitting up.

She had dreamed of diving into a dungeon with a strange boy. They passed the record-high 20th floor and reached the fortieth floor, mining the ultra-rare adamantite. And then, they encountered a dungeon boss whose existence was previously unknown.

“It was oddly realistic, but… Well, it must have been a dream. Maybe I’m just tired.” (Zeta)

There was no way it could be anything but a dream. Convincing herself of that, Zeta got out of bed. And then she noticed it. A large ore sitting on the table.

“A-a-a-adamantite!?” (Zeta)

Beside it, there was a note attached.

“Please forge a sword with this. I’ll pay whatever price you name. —Leon”

“I-i-it wasn’t a dream!?” (Zeta)

Her scream was said to have been heard even hundreds of meters away from the forge.

An adamantite sword was now in his hands.

Yeah, not bad.

Raising the jet-black blade to the sky, Leon murmured contentedly in his mind.

A week had passed since purifying Fafnir. Leon had come to collect the sword Zeta had forged.

“Now, let’s add a few things to it.” (Leon)

Leon used enchantment magic, adding attributes like all-element attack enhancement, auto-repair, indestructibility, and deterioration prevention. Even a normal metal would have been overwhelmed by so many enchantments, but adamantite could handle it just fine.

“Wait, wait, wait! What the hell did you do to that sword!? It’s shining even more than before!” (Zeta)

“I just gave it a little boost. Like all-element attack enhancement, auto-repair, indestructibility, deterioration prevention…” (Leon)

“No, no, that’s already at the level of a national treasure-class magic sword or divine sword!” (Zeta)

“I think it’s still far from a divine sword, though. More importantly, Onee-chan, how much do I owe you?” (Leon)

“…Forget the money.” (Zeta)

“Huh? Forget it?” (Leon)

“I’d be drowning in change if I charged you! Do you even know how much that chunk was worth!?” (Zeta)

What Leon had given her was a chunk large enough to craft five or six swords. He had planned to use the leftover adamantite as part of the payment, but its value far exceeded everything Zeta had earned in her entire career. If anyone found out about it, things could get messy, so Zeta had hidden the remaining adamantite deep in the basement storage.

“By the way, I heard the northern dungeon was conquered…” (Zeta)

“Yeah. I beat the boss.” (Leon)

“So, you really took it down…” (Zeta)

Zeta had been put to sleep, so she had no memory of what happened after a terrifying boss monster appeared. The idea that a mere ten-year-old had defeated such a monster alone was utterly unbelievable. But seeing the boy before her, she could only sigh and accept that he had somehow done it.

“This town’s adventurers are probably going to dwindle now.” (Zeta)

Since the dungeon boss had been defeated, the monsters within would rapidly weaken, and new monsters would become less likely to appear. Eventually, the dungeon itself would collapse. Most adventurers would relocate, and the guild would have to downsize. Naturally, that would also reduce the demand for blacksmiths.

“Seriously, kid… What the hell are you? With that kind of strength, you’re like a legendary hero. If you told me you were a hero reborn, I might just believe you.” (Zeta)

“…Hero? What’s that? Is it tasty?” (Leon)

“What the hell was that weirdly unnatural response!? Don’t tell me it’s actually true!?” (Zeta)

“No way, Onee-chan.” (Leon)

Leon was bad at lying. But his nerves were thick enough to keep up a bad act.

“Ahh, whatever.” (Zeta)

In the end, Zeta gave up and let out a deep sigh, abandoning her pursuit of the matter.

Leon did not report the dungeon’s conquest to the guild. Even he realized that such an event would stand out too much in this era. Naturally, everyone was curious about who the conqueror was, and the topic remained a hot discussion for some time.

“If I said, ‘Actually, it was me!’, what would you do?” (Adventurer A)

“Yeah, no. There’s no way a D-rank adventurer like you could do it.” (Adventurer B)

“Seriously, though, who the hell did it? If anyone could, it would have to be a high-ranked adventurer party…” (Adventurer C)

“The closest possibility would be that party from Liberto.” (Adventurer D)

“But I haven’t heard anything about them coming to this town…” (Adventurer E)

Everyone threw out their own theories, but no one could reach the truth. However, a few people had started to suspect something.

“Hey, Nia. I heard that monstrous brat actually became an adventurer, and he’s already been promoted to D-rank… Could it be…?” (Adventurer F)

“I was thinking the same thing…” (Nia)

“Hey, Yuri. Someone said they saw that kid entering the northern dungeon… Could it be…?” (Adventurer G)

“Yes, I was thinking the same thing…” (Yuri)
