You were Probably Just Tired

Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

Since the monsters were finished cleaning up, I woke up Zeta.

“Hah? What on earth am I…?” (Zeta)

Looking around the surroundings, Zeta blinked rapidly.

It seemed that while sleeping, she returned to her senses. By the way, since almost all of the monsters had turned to ash, using wind magic to clean—rather, to blow them away, not a single corpse remained in the area.

“You don’t need to worry. You just suddenly lost consciousness.” (Leon)

“No, isn’t that actually pretty bad!?” (Zeta)

“I think you were probably just tired.” (Leon)

“But still, do you suddenly faint like that!? W-wait a sec? It feels like I saw something terrifying…” (Zeta)

“…I think it’s better not to remember.” (Leon)

“What happened!? This is way too scary!” (Zeta)

Though she was holding her head, Leon judged that for the time being, she seemed fine, and so he decided to return to the surface again. The cause of the earlier irregularity was still unknown, and with Zeta in this state, it was probably best not to stay too long.

And then, at that moment…

Crack crack crack, fractures ran across the ground.

“…Was it because of the weight from earlier?” (Leon)

While he was speculating that the floor might have been on the verge of collapsing due to the earlier monster horde, the cracks spread throughout the entire room.

“Wait, could this be…?” (Zeta)

“Be careful. It’s going to give way.” (Leon)

Right after issuing that warning, the ground suddenly collapsed.

“Gyaaaaaaaah!?” (Zeta)

Zeta let out a scream as she experienced sudden free fall.

Leon, immediately reacting, princess-carried her, and after falling about 10 meters, he effortlessly landed.

“~~~~~!” (Zeta)

“?” (Leon)

As Zeta hastily climbed down from his arms, Leon looked at her curiously before surveying the surroundings. It seemed they had fallen to a lower level. It was a spacious area.

Dimly lit, an eerie presence lingered in the air. Leon turned his gaze toward the source of that presence. Standing there was a massive dragon. It had no wings, its elongated body streamlined. From its ominously colored scales, a poisonous vapor seeped.

Leon knew the name of that dragon.

“…Poison Dragon Fafnir.” (Leon)

Leon recalled memories from his past life.

This poison dragon was a monster that Leon, back when he was a hero, had defeated.

So, that’s it.

The place where he fought it was right here, in this very dungeon. The ground had looked as though a meteor had struck and gouged out the land, but that was actually the scar left by the finishing move Leon had unleashed. No wonder he had a vague sense of familiarity, Leon thought, understanding at last.

I was certain I had finished it off back then… but it survived?

The reason this dungeon was formed must have been because of this dragon. The enormous mana of a top-tier dragon was indeed sufficient to create a dungeon.

“In other words, you’re the master of this dungeon—the boss, huh?” (Leon)

And most likely, the one responsible for the earlier irregularity was also this dragon.

“Wait, are you okay, Zeta-oneechan?” (Leon)

“…Boss… the boss appeared… and it’s Fafnir… a catastrophe-class monster… it’s over… we’re doomed…” (Zeta)

It seemed that Zeta had once again reached her mental limit.

“Ababababababababababa!” (Zeta)

She broke.

“Should I put her to sleep again?” (Leon)

“Zzz.” (Zeta)

Handing the sleeping Zeta over to Sura, Leon faced off against the dragon.

“It’s been a while. A hundred years, huh? Well, for me, it feels like I just defeated you a few months ago.” (Leon)

When Leon spoke, Fafnir unleashed a tremendous killing intent.

“That magic power, there’s no doubt, it’s you!” (Fafnir)

“I see, so you identified me by my mana. No wonder you recognized me even though my appearance has changed.” (Leon)

“Kill! Kill you! This time I’ll definitely kill youuuu!” (Fafnir)

“…You used to be able to hold a proper conversation before, though?” (Leon)

This dragon had been a lunatic who loved watching creatures suffer and die from its poison, but at least it had been capable of conversation.

It seemed that over the past hundred years, its intelligence had deteriorated.

“Die die die die die die diiieeee!” (Fafnir)

With a roar, Fafnir lunged.

“Unfortunately, that’s your role. This time, I’ll make sure to finish you off.” (Leon)

Evading the gaping maw aiming to devour him with a jump, Leon slammed a full-force punch into Fafnir’s skull.

*Zugon!*

Having annihilated 500 monsters earlier, Leon’s level had increased further, boosting his stats even more. Fafnir’s head was slammed into the ground. However, as if nothing had happened, Fafnir immediately got back up and attacked again.

“Yeah, bare-handed combat is rough.” (Leon)

Though in his past life he had defeated it with ease, this was still a top-tier dragon. Even with his considerably restored strength, taking it down without a sword was tough. While he had acquired the materials for a sword, the weapon itself was still yet to be made.

“Then, magic it is. —Ice Rain.” (Leon)

What rained down was a storm of ice blades. One after another, they pierced into Fafnir’s body.

“It’s not working?” (Leon)

Yet, even after taking the attack head-on, Fafnir showed no signs of pain and charged straight ahead.

“Useless, useless, uselesssss!” (Fafnir)

Immediately after, it spewed a deadly poisonous breath.

“Hurricane.” (Leon)

Leon swiftly conjured a powerful gust of wind with magic, blowing it away.

“Enchant—Complete Poison Resistance.” (Leon)

Additionally, just in case, he cast a support spell to grant himself poison immunity.

Fafnir’s deadly poison was extremely troublesome. Just inhaling a little would be enough to knock someone unconscious. By the way, since slimes were immune to poison, and Zeta was completely covered by one while sleeping, she should be fine.

But what’s going on? Is this thing not feeling pain?
