I Don’t Really Understand Either

The one that the Kobold King fiercely leaped at was Seira and Yuri, who were embracing each other and trembling. Simply because they were the closest.

“Kinsmen’s grudge, I shall avenge.” (Kobold King)

“We’re hardly the ones who did most of it!” (Seira)

“Please forgive us!” (Yuri)

The two pleaded their innocence, but there was no way a monster would listen.

“Die.” (Kobold King)

The Kobold King’s powerful arm, equipped with sharp claws, swung down.

*Pashi*

However, at that very moment, Leon had stepped in and effortlessly caught it with one hand.

“Are you okay? I don’t think there’s any need to be so scared.” (Leon)

“Of course, we’re scared! The opponent is the Kobold King!?” (Seira)

“More importantly, why are you stopping it so easily!?” (Yuri)

The Kobold King groaned in disbelief.

“Im-impossible…” (Kobold King)

No matter how much strength he put in, it didn’t budge. The Kobold King’s eyes widened at where such power could come from in a human child so much smaller than himself.

“Take this.” (Leon)

On the other hand, when Leon lightly pushed, that alone caused the Kobold King to stagger backward. Leaving him completely open, Leon struck his fist into his solar plexus.

*Dogo!*

“Guwaaah!?” (Kobold King)

The massive body soared about 50 meters through the air, flying all the way to the forest, where it crashed hard into a tree trunk.

“Guuh… P-pain… Where… did such strength… come from… guh…” (Kobold King)

It seemed the Kobold King had perished.

“…Hey, Yuri, could this still be a dream?” (Seira)

“…Let’s check once more.” (Yuri)

“It hurts.” (Seira)

“…Yes, it does.” (Yuri)

Just as before, Seira and Yuri pinched each other’s cheeks.

“We sure took down quite a few.” (Leon)

A scene of sheer carnage, with a vast number of kobold corpses scattered about. Looking over it, Leon showed an innocent smile.

“Yes…” (Seira)

“Yes indeed…” (Yuri)

Seira and Yuri nodded wearily.

They had many things they wanted to question, but the shock was too overwhelming for that now.

“But with this many, we can’t possibly carry them all back…” (Seira)

Although the bounty for kobold extermination was low, their fur, fangs, and claws could be sold, making it worthwhile to bring the corpses back. Given how many they had defeated, the extermination reward alone would be more than sufficient, but for fledgling adventurers, it still felt wasteful to leave them behind.

“No need to worry. Look.” (Leon)

As Leon said this, the kobold corpses scattered everywhere began moving all at once.

“They’re still alive!?” (Seira & Yuri)

Seira and Yuri screamed, but that wasn’t the case.

Leon was merely using non-elemental magic to make them move.

“What is even happening now…?” (Seira)

“I don’t know… and I don’t want to know…” (Yuri)

Since hardly anyone in the present era used magic in such a way, even the mage Yuri couldn’t comprehend it. Or perhaps, he had simply given up on trying to understand. Once the corpses had all been gathered in one spot, Leon then started storing them into his item box.

“They… disappeared…? What is going on…?” (Seira)

“I don’t know… and I don’t want to know…” (Yuri)

Having stored everything, Leon, for some reason, said,

“Don’t worry, I’ll split the reward into three equal parts. I won’t swindle you or anything.” (Leon)

“Like that’s what we’d care about in this situation!” (Seira/Yuri)

Their desperate screams echoed.

Returning to the town of Badacca, Leon and the others headed to the Adventurer Guild to report. Noticing them, the receptionist, Silue, called out.

“Oh, welcome back. How was your first request? Wait, what’s wrong? Did something happen?” (Silue)

Seeing Seira and Yuri, Silue furrowed her brows.

“I think it went well?” (Leon)

“Then, why do the two behind you have the eyes of dead fish?” (Silue)

“Who knows? I don’t really understand either.” (Leon)

Leon shook his head.

“Anyway, we defeated a lot of kobolds.” (Leon)

“A lot? Well then, could you show me the proof?” (Silue)

Kobold extermination was verified by cutting off their tails.

Since Leon and the others weren’t carrying any large luggage, Silue assumed they had only brought the tails.

However—

*Thud thud thud thud thud*

A mountain of kobold corpses was piled up on the reception counter.

“Wait, wait! Whole bodies!? In that case, not here! And where did they even come from!?” (Silue)

Silue shouted in panic.

By then, 10 corpses had already been stacked. At that moment, Leon finally realized he had done something unusual, and with a face that said, “Huh? Is this bad?” he put them back into his item box.

“Ahh… that was surprising…” (Silue)

Silue sighed in relief before saying,

“Come with me.” (Silue)

She led them to the counter meant specifically for purchasing materials.

There, Leon once again began taking out the collected bodies.

*Thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud thud—*

“S-stop! Stop! There’s too many! How many did you bring!?” (Silue)

Once again, Silue raised her voice to stop Leon.

“I didn’t count exactly, but probably more than 50?” (Leon)

“F-f-fifty!? That’s absurd!” (Silue)

“Is that really a lot?” (Leon)

“It’s way too much! And I just noticed, you even have Elder Kobolds!? You definitely went into the forest, didn’t you!? I told you so many times not to go in there!” (Silue)

“I didn’t enter the forest, though.” (Leon)

“That’s impossible! Kobolds almost never appear outside the forest!” (Silue)

But I’m not lying…

Leon pouted.

“Sigh… I’ll question you about that later. For now, let’s head to the processing area.” (Silue)

Apparently, with this quantity, it was better to transport them directly to the material processing area. Leon once again put the corpses back into his item box and followed Silue deeper into the guild.

“…By the way, where are you pulling them out from?” (Silue)

“From my item box, of course.” (Leon)

“You have something that rare!?” (Silue)

Silue was shocked, while Leon tilted his head in confusion.

Rare? But don’t all merchants have item boxes?
