The Statue of the Legendary Hero-sama

It seemed the opponent was a notorious bandit gang. Even in the previous life, there were plenty of vicious bandit gangs. Even when humanity was on the brink of crisis due to the Demon King, there were still those who committed crimes. Among them, some were so troublesome that even the hero, Leon, received subjugation requests for them.

Should I not hold back too much?

Leon’s status was still lower than in his previous life. It would be better not to underestimate them as he did with Snail’s group.

Luckily, they seem to be letting their guard down, thinking I’m just an ordinary child. If I secretly use magic, I might be able to take the initiative.

Leon could activate magic without chanting. However, he still needed a slight moment to gather his magical power, and in his previous life, there were enemies who took advantage of that brief opening to attack. Though in such cases, Leon could just respond with his sword.

“—Sandstorm.” (Leon)

But it seemed such concerns were unnecessary. The magic activated without any issues, and a tremendous sandstorm erupted around the carriage.

“““Gyaaahhh!?””” (Bandits)

Engulfed by the sandstorm and thrown into the air, the bandits’ screams echoed.

By the way, since Leon skillfully controlled the range of the sandstorm, not a single grain of sand entered the carriage. By the time the storm settled, every bandit was buried up to their waist in the ground, unconscious.

…Huh?

Meanwhile, Leon tilted his head. Since he had heard they were a notorious bandit gang, he didn’t expect to take them down so easily.

Or maybe they’re just pretending to be unconscious?

As he remained cautious, Ryan and Nia slowly turned toward Leon with incredulous expressions.

“W-What the hell, kid!? What was that magic!?” (Ryan)

“Huh? It’s Sandstorm.” (Leon)

“That’s an earth and wind fusion magic!?” (Nia)

“Oh? Would it have been better to use a more lethal spell? They probably have more crimes under their belt, so I thought it would be best to incapacitate them and capture them.” (Leon)

““That’s not the problem!”” (Ryan/Nia)

“…?” (Leon)

Not understanding why he was being yelled at, Leon tilted his head.

“And wasn’t that magic cast without an incantation…?” (Ryan)

“No way… to cast magic without chanting like that…” (Nia)

Since the two were frozen in shock, Leon had no choice but to start gathering the bandits by himself. However, there were 14 of them, making it impossible to fit them all in the carriage.

“I guess I’ll have to carry them myself.” (Leon)

Fortunately, the town was only about an hour away by carriage. If Leon ran, he would reach it in no time.

“Well then, I’ll go on ahead.” (Leon)

“H-Huh?” (Coachman)

After briefly informing the coachman, Leon effortlessly lifted the bound bandits. Then, kicking off the ground, he took off at a speed far surpassing the carriage.

“““Ehhhhhh!?””” (Ryan/Nia/Coachman)

Leaving behind the sounds of astonishment, Leon dashed forward like the wind. It took about ten minutes to arrive at Badacca.

“Here. I caught these bandits on the road.” (Leon)

“Huh!? Wait, what do you… wait, he’s already gone!?” (Guard)

After casually tossing the bundle of bandits at the town entrance, Leon promptly entered the town. The town guards would probably take care of the rest.

Hasn’t changed much, huh…

He had expected the townscape to have changed significantly after a hundred years, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Of course, there were likely minor differences, but the imposing gate he had just passed through, which could be considered a landmark, and the plaza before him remained the same as they were a century ago. However, when he followed his memory to where the Adventurer Guild used to be, he found a public bathhouse instead.

He looked around the area, wondering if he was remembering it wrong. Eventually, he found a building different from what he remembered. However, the sign clearly read “Adventurer Guild – Badacca Branch”. It seemed the guild had relocated.

“I should register first.” (Leon)

Leon headed toward the reception desk. On his way, something caught his eye.

“This is…” (Leon)

It was a magnificent statue. A statue of a young man around 20 years old.

Leon recognized the face.

“That’s me.” (Leon)

It was Leon from his previous life.

…Though ever so slightly—just slightly—it seemed to be sculpted to look more dignified than the real thing. As he felt a mix of emotions about this,

“That is the statue of the Legendary Hero-sama.” (??)

A voice called out from behind, and Leon turned around.

A beautiful young woman, around 20 years old, smiled at him.

“It happened about a hundred years ago. The one who defeated the mighty Demon King and saved this world was the Hero, Leon Libert-sama.” (??)

“I know.” (Leon)

After all, he was the person himself. Of course, the woman had no way of knowing that.

“Why is this in the Adventurer Guild?” (Leon)

“His statues aren’t just here but all over the country… No, all over the world. After all, Leon-sama is the hero of all humanity. Especially in Adventurer Guilds, there are hardly any branches without his statue, as they wish to be inspired by his legendary strength.” (??)

Hearing this, Leon nearly collapsed from embarrassment.

“Ah, but no matter how many times I see it, he really is handsome…” (??)

She gazed at the statue dreamily.

Since his face had changed, she would never guess that the very person was standing right next to her.

“…By the way, what business do you have today? I am Silue, the guild’s receptionist.” (Silue)

Apparently, the woman was a guild receptionist. No wonder she was so beautiful. Receptionists were the face of the guild, so they were often chosen not only for their competence but also for their looks.

“I’d like to register as an adventurer.” (Leon)

“You? Um… how old are you?” (Silue)

“12.” (Leon)

Though if he included his previous life, he was 33.

“…12. That means you haven’t chosen a Job yet, right?” (Silue)

“No, I have the [Tamer] Job. Sula.” (Leon)

『Yes-nano! 』 (Sula)

When Leon called out, something wriggled inside his clothes, and Sula popped out from his collar.

Since she was a monster, he had hidden her just in case someone was startled.

Silue smiled slightly at the sight of the adorable slime, but

“…Still, it’s just a slime. And your Job is [Tamer]… Hmm…” (Silue)

She groaned, looking troubled.

“To be honest, I wouldn’t really recommend becoming an adventurer as a monster tamer.” (Silue)

“Why not?” (Leon)

“In order to tame strong monsters, you have to be strong yourself. But tamers aren’t really good at combat… It’s different if you reach Class II, [Monster Tamer].” (Silue)

A Class I [Tamer] could only tame animals or weak monsters. If they could join a party, there was still hope, but since they were a burden until they became strong enough to be useful, most parties avoided them.

“That’s why [Tamer] is a Job with a high hurdle for beginners.” (Silue)

Looking at Leon with pity, Silue wondered why he had chosen such a Job.
