PS2: Click here to start reading Reincarnated Hero 1.
PS3: This is the new novel I chose that fulfill my criteria (short to medium length per chapter). On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I will focus on releasing this novel (whenever possible), and if time permits in the future, I will add another novel. I have found certain novels but I’ll read a little bit first before choosing which one. I really appreciate if you could spend some time reading it. Thank you everyone!
Job Points Are In

Leon, having left his brothers behind, quickly returned home. Upon returning to his familiar room, he sat down on his tattered bed.
*Puru, puru*
Then, from under the bed, a colorless and transparent lump appeared and entwined itself around Leon’s foot.
“I’m home, Sura.” (Leon)
When he called out, the slime, known as the weakest monster, quivered its body with a pururin.
About a year ago, it had wandered into the yard by chance, and when Leon found it, it was injured. After he healed it with medicinal herbs, it started clinging to him. Since then, he had been secretly keeping it in his room. It ate pests on its own, so food wasn’t necessary, and it even kept the room clean, which was helpful. More than anything, it was cute.
For Leon, who had been living a miserable life, Sura was his only comfort.
“Well, that ends today, though.” (Leon)
Leon lifted Sura as he always did.
It started to quiver, but since it had no facial expressions, he couldn’t tell whether it was happy or scared.
At the very least, since it didn’t try to run away, it probably wasn’t unwilling.
“…Alright, I need to check a few things first.” (Leon)
It was almost certain that he had reincarnated, but there were still some questions.
First, when and how did he die?
“Come to think of it, I’ve never heard anything about what happened after defeating the Demon King.” (Leon)
In all the books that depicted the adventures of the legendary hero from a hundred years ago, in other words, Leon’s past life, they all ended with the Demon King being defeated and a happy ending. For some reason, he couldn’t remember anything after slaying the Demon King. At that time, he was definitely 21 years old.
He didn’t know how many years later he had died, but it was strange that he couldn’t recall anything about the life he had lived. His last memory was of the battle with the Demon King, which he had seen repeatedly in his dreams…
“Wait? Right after I landed the finishing blow on the Demon King, something happened… Ah… That’s right!” (Leon)
Then, Leon finally remembered.
At the moment the Demon King died, a troublesome curse had been unleashed. It was likely set to activate upon the Demon King’s death as a trigger. Because of its severe conditions, it was an incredibly powerful curse. It broke through the hero’s high curse resistance and, left untreated, was at a level where he instinctively knew he would die in a few minutes.
Leon immediately tried to use a dispel spell, but the curse also sealed his magic. Then, he attempted to drink an antidote potion, but his limbs were paralyzed and wouldn’t move. The paralysis status ailment had also been inflicted. Paralysis could be cured over time, but the curse would consume him faster.
And then, Leon lost consciousness…
“So, I died, huh… That was anticlimactic.” (Leon)
In the end, it had been a mutual kill between him and the Demon King. He had won in terms of strength, but maybe he had been too careless.
—”Normally, a Hero is one who challenges the Demon King with a party, right!?”
He recalled the Demon King’s words.
If Leon had companions, they might have been able to dispel the curse for him. The stronger the restrictions on a curse, the more powerful it became. Given how strong that curse was, it was probably limited to targeting a single person.
“Well, there’s no use regretting it now.” (Leon)
Next, there was the question of his abilities.
Is the current Leon as strong as in his past life?
The reborn Leon shouldn’t have been able to defeat an ogre. So, it wasn’t like everything had been completely reset. He could test it by swinging a sword or casting magic… but there was an easier way.
“Appraisal.” (Leon)
Leon used a skill on himself.
That was, if he could still use it—
“It works properly.” (Leon)
A list of words appeared in Leon’s field of vision.
He checked them in order from the top.
Leon Cerest
Age: 12
Cerest was his current family name. Even as an illegitimate child, he had been given a surname. Only his reincarnated name was listed. His age was also only counted from his current life.
Species: Human
Species Level: 3
His species was fine, but his species level was 3.
Compared to his past life, where it capped at 100, it was extremely low. For a 12-year-old child, it was completely normal, but it didn’t explain how he could have easily defeated an ogre.
The answer was in the next section.
Job
[Swordmaster] Level 20
[Grand Wizard] Level 20
[Saint] Level 20
[King Thief] Level 20
“It’s the same as my past life.” (Leon)
Jobs, were also known as “vocations”, granted blessings from the Gods upon acquisition. Leveling them up increased base ability bonuses and made it easier to learn certain skills or magic. The maximum level was 20, and reaching that point granted even stronger blessings.
Normally, only one job could be acquired at a time. However, upon mastering one, it was possible to obtain higher-tier jobs within the same branch or even jobs from different branches.
Leon had mastered four job branches to their highest levels. Because of that, he could fill multiple roles alone and was able to challenge the Demon King solo.
…Which resulted in a mutual kill, though.
The appraisal skill, while not as specialized as those of dedicated appraisers, was a talent of the thief job branch that allowed one to discern the value of people and objects. As someone who had mastered the King Thief job, Leon could see his own detailed stats.
“In other words, my species level restarted at 1 due to reincarnation, but my jobs remained the same.” (Leon)
As a result—
Strength: S (E)
Endurance: S (E)
Dexterity: S (E)
Agility: S (E)
Magic: S (E)
Luck: S (E)
Even though all his base abilities were at E, the powerful job blessings boosted them to S. Of course, compared to his past life where everything was SSS, they were lower.
And there was one more noteworthy thing.
Job Points: 300
“Job points are in there!” (Leon)
These were points required to acquire jobs, gained by increasing one’s species level.
In his past life, Leon had raised it to 100 and earned a total of 10,000 points, all of which he had spent on job acquisition.
“That means… I can get a new job, right?” (Leon)
Maybe, just maybe, he could become even stronger than in his past life, and Leon’s heart swelled with anticipation.
