Don’t Throw It!

“Gya gya gya!?” (Goblins)

Apparently, even though they were both monsters, it seemed that the ogre was not considered one of their allies by the goblins, as they all fled one after another.

“Y-You’ve got to be kidding!” (??)

“There’s no way we can defeat an ogre!” (??)

The followers of Snail changed their expressions and started retreating. Snail scolded them.

“Hah, no need to worry! Even an ogre isn’t scary with this sword!” (Snail)

But even his voice was trembling.

Still, Snail took his sword and charged toward the ogre.

“Take this! — Huh!?” (Snail)

Everyone was stunned by the scene.

The slash that had easily cut through a goblin’s torso was effortlessly blocked by the ogre’s thick hand.

“Hik…” (Snail)

Snail let out a strained voice.

“R-Run awayyy!!” (??)

“We really can’t beat an ogre!” (??)

“I don’t want to die yet!” (??)

“Ah, hey, wait up!?” (Snail)

Ignoring Snail, the followers turned and fled in unison.

Leon also hurriedly tried to follow them.

“—!!” (Leon)

At that moment, his hair was violently pulled from behind.

Leon fell onto his rear end.

“Haha, I’ll leave the rest to you!” (Snail)

“Wh—” (Leon)

His brother laughed and passed by him.

“I brought you along just for this kind of situation! Be honored that you can die for me!” (Snail)

“T-That’s…” (Leon)

Leon immediately tried to stand up.

But fear had rendered his legs powerless, and all he could do was crawl forward. When he cautiously looked back, the ogre was walking toward him with a smirk, as if mocking him.

“…I’m going to be killed.” (Leon)

Killed?

–By an ogre? No, wait, an ogre?

I’ve never even defeated a goblin before, have I? Didn’t I overpower the Demon King though?

–Demon King?

That was in a dream. I’m not a hero. I was born as a commoner in a noble family, and I’ve never even properly held a sword before… Wait, who am I even talking to? And… where did that fear from before go?

Instead, confidence was rising from deep within his body. Perhaps, as a result of overwhelming fear, he had gone a bit mad. Before he knew it, Leon had stood up and was facing the ogre, which was many times bigger than him. Somehow, he had picked up the sword his brother had dropped.

The ogre approached with an expression full of ease. Then, it extended its thick arm casually.

*Zat!*

Leon flashed the sword, and in an instant, the ogre’s thick arm was sliced off. The severed wrist flew through the air, falling to the ground with a thud.

“Uga?” (Ogre)

The ogre let out a silly voice as it didn’t understand what had happened.

It tilted its head and looked at the severed arm, finally seeming to comprehend.

“UggaAAAAAAA!?” (Ogre)

“Did I just slash that…?” (Leon)

–This much is just a warm-up. Besides, there’s no one else around. Who else could have done it?

“Ugah!” (Ogre)

Apparently, the ogre realized it was Leon’s doing and, in a fit of rage, jumped at him.

Next, its torso was split in two.

“Uga?” (Ogre)

The giant body crashed to the ground, and the ogre easily met its end.

“W-What… did I just cut its torso…?” (Leon)

The ogre’s body was thick, and it had a hard backbone.

The difficulty of cutting it in half was far beyond that of a goblin.

–Well, if it’s me, I could do that with a stick.

“Ah…” (Leon)

Leon suddenly recalled everything.

“I am… no, I was a hero.” (Leon)

He was once called the strongest hero in history.

And apparently, that evaluation hadn’t changed. He was a legendary hero from a hundred years ago.

“…I see. It looks like I was reborn.” (Leon)

That dream wasn’t just a dream. It was the memory of his past life.

Leon looked down at the sword he used to kill the ogre.

“It’s not that great of a sword.” (Leon)

Snail had said it was the world’s best sword, given to him by the hero, but to Leon from his past life, it was the kind of sword he would have sold off immediately. If he went to a larger city, he could easily buy a sword like this at any weapon shop.

“…Now that I think about it, I feel like I’ve been around here before in my past life.” (Leon)

He had been asked to exterminate some monsters and specifically came to this area. However, the monster wasn’t significant, and it ended in an instant. Because of that, he couldn’t quite remember what kind of monster it was.

Snail had said it was a powerful monster, though…

At that time, the village chief’s son had acted as their guide, and he had such a desperate, greedy look on his face that Leon gave him an unnecessary sword.

“Could he be my ancestor? He didn’t fight alongside me, and as soon as the monster appeared, he was paralyzed with fear…” (Leon)

It seems a lot had been exaggerated over the course of a hundred years.

“L-Leon!?” (Snail)

When Leon came out of the forest, his brother was shocked with wide eyes.

“Are you okay!? What happened to the ogre?” (Snail)

“I killed the ogre.” (Leon)

“Huh?” (Snail)

Not believing Leon’s words, Snail and the others stared blankly for a moment before bursting into laughter.

“Gahaha! There’s no way you could’ve killed an ogre! It probably spared you because you’re just a kid, and it didn’t want to kill you! You got lucky!” (Snail)

They didn’t even care that they had used Leon as bait.

Rather, upon seeing the sword Leon was holding…

“Good! I almost lost this!” (Snail)

Without a word of thanks, Snail tried to snatch it away.

It seemed that his brother was far more important to him than Leon. Leon felt a bit irritated and casually tossed the sword toward his brother.

“Wh—!? Don’t throw it!!” (Snail)

Snail, who had hastily caught it, shouted angrily.

“Stop yelling… it’s annoying.” (Leon)

“What!? What’s with that attitude toward me!? Do you want to get slapped—” (Snail)

“Here.” (Leon)

Leon tossed the ogre’s head toward Snail.

“Whoa, what the!? Wait, the ogre’s head!?” (Snail)

“Could it really be…?” (??)

“No way…” (??)

Snail and the others were stunned in shock, and while they were distracted, Leon quickly turned and left the scene.

“Hey, how did he—where did he go!?” (Snail)
