Vi’s Daily Life

“Where are we going today?” (Vi)

Gathering its companions, Vi discussed the plans for the day.

Slime creatures had no dwelling. If anything, they preferred comfortable places. As long as it was inside a dungeon without enemies, any spot was fine. So, when night fell, they slept, and when the morning sun rose, they woke up, called their companions, and discussed the plans for the day.

From the outside, it would have looked like countless slime creatures had gathered in a corner of the forest, and the trees were wrapped in slime, creating a terrifying sight.

“To the village~” (Slime)

“We went there yesterday.” (Vi)

The slimes were entrusted with various processing tasks within the dungeon. Furthermore, they possessed the right to enter outside the dungeon and the throne room, allowing for a wide range of activities. For them, processing meant eating. Therefore, they wanted to consume as much as possible at once.

Thus, they were looking for places they hadn’t visited much.

“To the large bath!” (Slime)

“To see Maou-sama?” (Vi)

“We want to see Maou-sama~!” (Slime)

Thus, the grand migration of the slime creatures begins for the purpose of an audience with the Demon King? Or rather, to process the large bath.

“Maou-sama~?” (Vi)

Upon entering the throne room, they searched for the Demon King, but he was nowhere to be found. He might have been in his private room or bedroom, but they only had permission to enter the large bath. It wasn’t like they had any specific business with the Demon King, but upon realizing that they couldn’t meet him, everyone showed signs of disappointment. It was rare to see him, but they had some expectations. Besides, the Demon King was unusually kind to them.

They didn’t know that this kindness stemmed from the Demon King’s guilt for entrusting them with all the processing in the dungeon.

“Then, how about food?” (Vi)

“Food!” (Slime)

Remembering another purpose, the slimes headed toward the large bath. Since it had been a while, they expected a large meal upon entering, but there…

“Maou-sama?” (Vi)

“Oh? It’s you, Vi. You’ve come at a very inconvenient time.” (Nobunaga)

In the bubbly large bath, the Demon King was seen diligently scrubbing the floor with a brush.

“Huh? No food~?” (Slime)

The slimes that had been following Vi entered in a line and expressed their confusion upon seeing the bubbly large bath. Of course, Vi thought the same, and upon seeing the Demon King covered in bubbles, she became certain. The Demon King had removed the food.

“Why…?” (Vi)

A voice of despair that had never been heard before. That alone was enough to pressure the Demon King.

“Well, I thought it wouldn’t be good to not clean the bath for three days. Plus, I was bored, or rather, I thought I’d do some cleaning.” (Demon King)

Feeling the gaze of the eyeless Slimes for some reason, the Demon King responded while feeling guilty, but the Slimes certainly wouldn’t accept that. It wasn’t that the Demon King was at fault; he had entrusted all processing to Vi. If anything, the Demon King had no idea and didn’t know when they would come. This incident was just a matter of bad luck. That was all it was.

As an indescribable atmosphere began to drift in…

“It’s tingly!” (Slime)

A Slime had taken in the detergent bubbles. Once it finished taking it in, it took in another bubble and trembled.

“What?” (Vi)

As the other Slimes became curious, they also began to take in the bubbles.

“It’s tingly!” (Slime)

With voices of surprise, they trembled greatly.

Slimes didn’t have a sense of taste. They simply absorbed nutrients, so anything digestible became food. They couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to feel something tingly. Given their strong curiosity, it was only natural that they wouldn’t overlook this, especially since it was right in front of them.

“Yay!” (Slime)

“W-wait!” (Vi)

Of course, they dove in to take it. In an instant, the Slimes spread throughout the large bath. The Demon King desperately tried to hold them back, but with the detergent mixing with the Slimes, it became slippery, and he couldn’t catch them.

“The detergent is not something that living beings can safely ingest!” (Nobunaga)

“It’s tingly!” (Slime)

“First, confirm if it’s safe!” (Demon King)

“Bubbles are coming out!” (Slime)

Ignoring the Demon King’s words due to their unfamiliar experience, they each continued to absorb the bubbles, and finally, all the slime creatures began to emit bubbles, transforming into Bubble Slimes. A few days later, the Bubble Slimes returned to their original Slime form. However, for some reason, the areas they passed through became cleaner, as if they had been washed.

The demons living in the village were very grateful, but as punishment for not heeding the Demon King’s reprimands and restrictions, they lost the right to enter the large bath.

Ran’s Daily Life

Does Maou-sama need an attendant?

The question of whether the Demon King needed an attendant arose after the annihilation of the Knights.

The Demon King led a busy life. Nobody knew exactly when he woke up or slept, but during the time he was commanding the annihilation of the knight squad, I heard that he personally oversaw special training for the kobolds, inspected regular training, and always showed up to see the small goblins’ burrow construction.

Furthermore, I also heard that he set traps using slime creatures for development. Busy. Indeed, these were all things that only the Demon King could do. Even so, I wanted to lessen that burden as much as possible. After the annihilation of the Knights, we finally found the time to notice this, and the tribe leaders gathered to discuss who would take on the role of attendant.

Nobody was willing to yield in the discussion. Taking care of the Demon King was not something one would easily give up. They would be able to see the Demon King and serve him directly. There was even a chance they might be greeted daily. The heated discussion gradually gained intensity and developed into a conflict. In the end, I emerged victorious. It was a fierce battle.

Hide moved sneakily, Shiba focused on evasion while looking for an opening, Kai showcased his prideful strength, Rin found opportunities with her graceful techniques, and Vi seemed to be enjoying herself. Thus, I won the role of attendant to the Demon King.

And now in my hands was a piece of paper. It has the formula for “Kuku” written on it. A few days ago, when discussing the assignment of the attendant role, the Demon King had declined, but after desperate persuasion, he agreed. However, an issue quickly arose.

The Demon King was too outstanding. No, I should say I was inadequate. For example, in the kitchen, there was research being conducted to instantly and abundantly recover magic. Among the equipment I had never seen before, the Demon King took the fruit, cut it into a convenient size, placed it in a long, narrow tube, and instantly turned it into liquid. He referred to it as a “mixer”, but I didn’t even know how to use it.

I thought about cleaning, but that fell under Vi’s jurisdiction. I couldn’t just do it on my own. When I was asked about the current state of the subordinates, I could answer, but when I was asked about the total number of subordinates, I couldn’t say anything. I know the number of my own race, but I haven’t inquired about the numbers of other races. Moreover, I had hardly had the opportunity to handle numbers in the triple digits, and I had never dealt with large calculations.

Feeling the inadequacy, I asked other tribe leaders, but like me, they couldn’t handle large calculations, and they didn’t know what a mixer was either. It was a relief to know I wasn’t the only one, but it was also a source of anxiety that nobody could lighten the Demon King’s burden. Thus, I decided to directly seek the Demon King’s teachings. Though it may not be possible right now, I hope to be of service someday.

“Ah, welcome back, chief!” (Arachnid)

“Hm? Ah.” (Rin)

It seems I had been so focused on “Kuku” that I returned to the village without realizing it. This “Kuku”, according to Maou-sama, is said to make calculations much easier once learned. It seems it will still take me some time to memorize it, but I will definitely learn it.

“Chief, did you ask Maou-sama?” (Arachnid)

“Ah, I did ask. However, since Maou-sama is busy, it’s best to resolve such matters ourselves as much as possible.” (Rin)

“I understand. So? What did Maou-sama say?” (Arachnid)

Did she truly understand? Normally, I would have scolded her, but I was currently too busy memorizing “Kuku.” Besides, I couldn’t say that I didn’t understand the feelings of the Arachnid in front of me. At the moment, the goal was to color the clothes made among the Arachnids. White clothing stood out too much in the forest, and I had received complaints from the Goblins.

Thus, the discussion had turned to adding color, but they couldn’t spit out colored threads. Some had even tried to coat them in blood to turn them red, but after several washes, the color faded or turned black and looked dirty. If they handed over something dirty, they themselves would be seen as dirty. Therefore, they had thought hard about how to add color and had decided to consult the Demon King.

Had I not been the attendant to the Demon King, I would have been fully engaged in that topic. But right now, I was too busy memorizing “Kuku” to touch on it.

“How about using plants? Repeated dyeing might make it less likely to wash out. That’s what he said.” (Ran)

“I see, I hadn’t thought of creating that from colored liquids. Repeating the process might lead to dyeing. As expected of Maou-sama.” (Arachnid)

“Of course. The Demon King knows everything. Since I’m busy, you should handle this discussion.” (Ran)

“Understood! I’ll handle it.” (Arachnid)

With that, the Arachnid disappeared somewhere to share the current discussion with their companions.

Several days had passed since then, and I had learned “Kuku.” However, I still couldn’t perform multiplication with double digits. It seemed the Demon King would teach me again soon, so I was looking forward to it.

The Arachnids? They were mostly outside the dungeon, gathering flowers for dyeing. Apparently, flowers had become rare because everyone was competing to gather them.

It seems I was correct not to participate. My goal is one thing. That is someday, I want to sit beside Maou-sama.
