Kali Kingdom’s Coup (6)

“Fool! You are no prince! Get out at once!!” (King)

The guards grabbed my arms, and I was dragged out of the great hall as my father, the king, shouted.

The angry glares from Carlotte, whose engagement I annulled, and the members of Duke Edel’s house, as well as the contemptuous looks from the surrounding nobles, were painful.

“Father! Father!” (Rudolf)

I was dragged away as I desperately shouted.

Bang.

The moment the doors of the great hall closed, the guards who had been holding my arms immediately let go.

“My apologies, Prince.” (Guard)

I rubbed the spot where I had been grabbed and waved my hand as if to say I did not mind.

“I told you not to hold back. This is fine.” (Rudolf)

The guards in the royal palace were part of the capital security force, meaning they were directly under the royal family’s command, my allies.

“We have been waiting, Your Highness.” (Talis)

In the hallway, Talis and the captains of the royal guards, imperial guards, and capital security forces were all gathered.

“It went well on my end.” (Rudolf)

I had annulled my engagement to Carlotte, acted like a fool, exposed my ignorance, and provoked my father’s anger to be cast out. Thus, I successfully gathered the nobles and their children in the great hall while escaping alone. Now, all that was left was to storm in.

“Congratulations.” (Talis)

“What about you all?” (Rudolf)

“Yes. Around 100 royal guards, 50 imperial guards, 300 capital security forces, and 100 adventurers have already gathered in over 20 separate rooms.” (Talis)

To prevent leaks, only the captains knew the full plan. The soldiers had merely been summoned without knowing what was about to happen. The 100 adventurers had also been gathered through nearly 20 different dummy requests to avoid arousing suspicion among the nobles.

“Good.” (Rudolf)

I took out a golden seal from my pocket.

This was the royal decree seal I had stolen from my father’s room the previous night. With this seal, any document became an official royal decree. As subjects of the kingdom, they were bound to carry out the orders even at the cost of their lives. I took the documents Talis had prepared and began stamping them one after another.

“This is a royal decree. The adventurers will be split into four groups of 25 to guard the four gates of the capital.” (Rudolf)

“Understood!” (Captain)

Normally, the gate guards consisted of the capital security force, but since they were all mobilized for this mission, the adventurers would take their place. This was an all-out operation, so every available force was being put to use.

“150 members of the capital security force will seal off the royal palace. Not even a single rat is to escape.” (Rudolf)

“Understood!” (Captain)

The security force captain responded bravely before rushing off.

“The imperial guards will disarm the upper ranks of the army and the royal knights.” (Rudolf)

“Your Highness, with only 50 imperial guards, that will be impossible…” (Imperial Guard Captain)

Unlike the concerned captain, I was unfazed.

“Show them this royal decree. Disobeying it is high treason. The upper ranks may be nobles, but the majority of soldiers are commoners. They have no reason to defy a royal order.” (Rudolf)

Some high-ranking officials, like ministers and knight commanders, might resist. However, the ordinary soldiers would obey the decree. There should be no major confusion. And finally, the remaining soldiers would all be sent into the great hall.

“Talis, 100 royal guards and 150 members of the capital security force will storm the great hall with me.” (Rudolf)

BANG!!!!

The great hall doors burst open, and dazzling light poured in. Everyone inside turned toward us at once.

“What is the meaning of this!?” (King)

The king and nobles were in a panic.

At the center of the hall, Duke Edel’s family was positioned around my father. Just as I expected, the nobles had been condemning my “scandal” and pressuring my father to clean up the mess.

“How dare you underestimate the royal family!” (Rudolf)

I was furious.

While it was true that this situation was caused by my annulment, I ignored that for now and focused on my anger. I pushed past the soldiers and stepped forward.

“Everyone, it has been some time.” (Rudolf)

“Rudolf…? Why…?” (King)

As if unable to comprehend the situation, my father asked in confusion.

Ignoring him, I raised a decree.

“This is a royal order.” (Rudolf)

As I glanced at the decree, my eyes met Carlotte’s for a brief moment.

My former fiancée. Do not hate me. Just as you fulfilled your duty as a noble lady for your house, I am simply fulfilling my duty as a prince for my kingdom.

“By the crime of high treason, all nobles present are hereby arrested! Soldiers, seize them!!” (Rudolf)

At my command, the soldiers charged forward with battle cries, rushing to capture the nobles.

The hall descended into chaos in an instant.

“My son… What are you doing…?” (King)

I heard my father’s trembling voice, but I turned away, pretending not to hear.

Some nobles tried to flee. Others resisted. The soldiers showed no mercy, striking them down, restraining them, and dragging them away. A few managed to jump from the balconies and windows, but they would not escape the capital security force surrounding the palace.

Even among the nobles, there were skilled fighters like Carlos, the commander of the royal knights. However, no one had brought a sword to a palace gathering. They tried to resist with chairs, plates, and whatever they could find. But their efforts were futile, and they were quickly subdued by the soldiers.
