Preparing Countermeasures for the Knights

I moved my hands carefully and stared at the thread. I didn’t know how much time has passed, but it was probably about time I could call it cloth.

“Demon King-sama, as you mentioned yesterday, I have brought the thread of the Arachnids—…oh?” (Arachne)

“Ah, Arachne. Just right, this is made from your threads. It’s not very well done, though.” (Nobunaga)

I said this and received the thread from the succubus spider Arachne, handing her instead the cloth-like thing that I had just made.

“Is this cloth made from our threads? I’ve heard that people from outside use our threads to make such things, but I didn’t expect Demon King-sama to be able to do it.” (Arachne)

“Hahaha, I wasn’t able to weave it as I wanted. It seems you don’t know how to weave it, though. I’ll teach you later, so have everyone makes long pieces of cloth. It won’t be proper clothing, but if you wrap it around your body, it might protect you from the deadly blades of the knights.” (Nobunaga)

“Understood. May I take this cloth?” (Arachne)

The succubus spider Arachne spread out the cloth I had given her as a prototype. When I said, “Go ahead”, she wrapped it around her arm and then fused the ends together by melting them with a small flame from her fingertips. After a while, when she separated them, the cloth had evolved into something resembling a wristband.

“This is how it’s done. If there’s a problem, it would be whether there’s another demon who can use fire magic, but…”

“I see, so the melted parts fuse together. Is it like wax, or does it have adhesive properties?” (Nobunaga)

“It has adhesive properties. We used it on injured companions, for example, to seal wounds.” (Arachne)

I took a broken spear from a book and handed it to the succubus spider Arachne.

“Can you fix this too?” (Nobunaga)

“That’s easy.” (Arachne)

It seemed really simple, as the broken spear was quickly returned to me in good condition.

When I put it into storage, the label changed from “Broken Spear” to “Repaired Spear.”

“Succubus spider Arachne, I’ll visit the settlement later, so please teach me how to weave. Also, I’d like to receive some of your thread little by little every day.” (Nobunaga)

“Understood.” (Arachne)

“Demon King! I finally found you. I’ve been looking for you.” (Alice)

Finally, I found her. I had been training the Kobolds, and for some reason, Alice showed up.

“What’s the matter? I told you to teach combat.” (Nobunaga)

“It’s about that! I can’t teach them without spears and bows. Also, my sword…” (Alice)

Ah, I had forgotten to give it to her. I remember that there were plenty of spears and bows among the offerings from the various races when they came to greet me.

I took them all out from a book, and a small mountain of weapons appeared before us. I was happy about the amount, but Alice seemed somewhat dismayed.

“Hey, Demon King…” (Alice)

“I know, I’ll store them and carry them. Well, the Kobolds were reaching their limits anyway, so this works out.” (Nobunaga)

“If that’s the case… But, um, are the Kobolds doing training?”

It was understandable for Alice to be confused. The Kobolds were running around me in circles. Of course, it wasn’t because they wanted to play, but because I had commanded them to do so.

“Come over here and see for yourself, you’ll understand immediately.” (Nobunaga)

Alice looked suspicious, but when she stepped forward, she quickly understood.

“I see, it’s Demon King-sama’s skill.” (Alice)

“Exactly, I want them to increase their endurance and speed, so I’ve been making them run with added weight. …Alright, break time! You all can rest now.”

“Hey, later on, can I join too?” (Alice)

“You don’t need it for combat training.” (Nobunaga)

“No, I mean for my own training.” (Alice)

That was a joke, right? The current training has already doubled the Gravity and is at maximum capacity. It is taking quite a bit of mana. As a result, I had been having the Kobolds gather blue fruits during reconnaissance. I couldn’t eat any more myself.

“If I feel like it, sure.” (Nobunaga)

“You promised!” (Alice)

On my way back after delivering the weapons, I arrived at a certain location. It was a place just a little distance from the door that connected to the outside, a relatively open area. There, the Goblins were working.

The tasks were twofold. A small group was cutting down trees within a large circle, and a larger group was attaching flat stones to long pieces of wood.

“This is Demon King-sama. We’ve only just begun, so there’s nothing to report yet.” (??)

“That’s fine. I just came to see if there were any problems with the work starting. It seems to be going well, so that’s good.” (Nobunaga)

What I had ordered was to create a depression here. The large circle was drawn as the range for the work. Therefore, the trees inside the circle were being cut down, and shovels were being made for digging. Though there were few axes, so the tree cutting was taking longer, it didn’t pose any real issue.

“Pile the dug-up earth outside the circle near the door and make a gentle slope. Just make sure it doesn’t form a wall.” (Nobunaga)

Now, after this, I am going to teach the Arachnids how to weave, talk to the Slimes, and set traps…

Busy as ever, I ended my day.
