Demon King Moves

Anyway, I’ve set my immediate goal. I’ll gain as much knowledge as I can from this book, and then decide if I’ll live in this world.

The mission of the Demon King? No way. Repel and exterminate the invading other races? First of all, I only know humans. In other words, most races are unknown enemies. How am I supposed to deal with that? How am I supposed to conquer them?

My strategy is “take care of my life”. I don’t intend to go all out. Fortunately, this place is surrounded by forest. It’s unlikely that assassins from other races will come immediately. That wolf or rather, the pack of kobold dogs was partially lured by me. I should avoid going outside carelessly.

First thing to do is…

*Grrr*…

…Yeah, let’s start by filling my stomach. That said, all I have is some unknown meat. Hmm.

I opened the inventory page.

“What kind of meat is this?”

Half of the page turned blank and an explanation section appeared. I clenched my fist in triumph.

“It’s bird meat.” (Book)

What attacked me was the book’s lack of explanation. I accidentally slammed my clenched fist onto the armrest, taking significant damage.

This throne is really hard.

“What kind of bird is it?”

“It’s Kokart meat.” (Book)

“What is a Kokart?”

“A bird domesticated for food.” (Book)

Why do I have to go through so much trouble just to find out what kind of meat this is? I need to think of a more efficient way to ask questions later.

Munching on fried Kokart meat, I pondered my next steps.

There are so many things I want to ask. Skills, other Demon Kings, dungeons, the world, races, and more. Asking about each one individually would take too long with this poor-explaining book, I’d starve first. And I might miss something important. So, the best method is…

“Are there any urgent things I need to know, anything that could be life-threatening if I don’t?”

Might as well leave it to the book. I don’t know anything anyway.

After a pause, as if thinking, the book’s pages started flashing, all of them.

“You’re telling me to read everything… Well, you’re not wrong.”

From the book’s perspective, everything in it is essential. There are surely things in there that are life-threatening if unknown. But how long would it take to read it all? The quest page alone has a list, and each item opens more details. And asking questions about the content will take even more time. It won’t be done in a day or two. Things don’t go that smoothly, huh. I’ll take my time and understand it.

“Is there a way to get food without going outside?”

“Quest rewards, expanding the dungeon and creating a farm there.” (Book)

I see, I did get meat from completing a quest. Not sure which quest, though. Expanding the dungeon should become clear as I read the book. I’d love to make a farm, but without seeds, it’s pointless.

I opened the quest page and looked for ones that reward food.

“Recruit Subordinates.”

Recruit races outside the dungeon as subordinates.

Reward: Food, seeds, weapons, random items.

Yeah, impossible. I can’t negotiate with other races, and I don’t want to go outside. Anything else?

“Attack Other Races’ Settlements.”

Attack other races’ settlements. Exterminate or dominate, show your Demon King-ness!

Reward: Small experience, food, vegetables, meat, weapons, armor, random items.

No way. I’m not motivated. What quests have I cleared, anyway?

“Open the Gate (Completed).”

Ready now? Open the door to the world.

Reward: Random skill box.

“Subjugate Other Races (Completed).”

Defeat foolish enemies who oppose you.

Reward: Food, meat.

So that’s what the quests were. I opened the gate unknowingly, and the subjugation was by accident. Was there even any preparation?

“Expand the Dungeon.”

Use dungeon points to expand the dungeon.

Reward: Small dungeon points, food, seeds.

This seems like the only option to avoid going outside. But seeds as food won’t help.

I searched for more quests but couldn’t find any that reward food.

…No choice. I’ll go outside.
