“Ha!” (Alice)

The princess, Alice, who had lost consciousness, woke up. She was on horseback, secured with a belt to prevent falling off.

“Have you woken up, Your Highness?” (Alma)

Alma, who was in front, turned around.

It seemed that Alice had been leaning against Alma’s back and had fainted.

“What happened to me…?” (Alice)

“You passed out the moment you saw the blood.” (Alma)

Alice remembered upon hearing Alma’s words.

The two who had been watching her were killed right in front of her. Blood splattered onto her face as they were killed, and in the extreme fear, she let out a silent scream and fainted. For a moment, she had hoped that help had arrived, but it seemed that there had been infighting within the Laplace kidnapping team.

“Why did they do such a thing…? Weren’t you all comrades?” (Alice)

“Hmm… well, it’s a matter of differing directions.” (Alma)

Alma casually avoided answering Alice’s question.

It wasn’t a complicated matter. Alma and Martina served Casablanca, while Yuna and the others served Tyr. They simply served different masters, with different final objectives. Even though Alma had negotiated at Yuna’s request, rescuing the Tadont couple hadn’t interested her at all.

“Where are we headed?” (Alice)

“Your Highness will be brought to Laplace.” (Alma)

“Laplace.” (Alice)

Alice muttered with a voice full of despair.

Alma, hearing Alice’s sad voice, ignored it and acted as brightly as possible.

“It’s a wonderful place. I’m sure you’ll like it. Casablanca-sama is around your age, and I’m sure you’ll get along just fine.” (Alma)

“That’s… I am the princess of Lureid. I do not want to go to Laplace.” (Alice)

“But, we’re almost at the border.” (Alma)

“Eh?” (Alice)

“Your Highness has been unconscious for a full two days. I’m sure all the stress and tension built up until now exhausted you.” (Alma)

The distance from the capital of Lureid to the border of the Laplace Kingdom is about a three-day ride without breaks.

“I don’t want to go! I am a proud princess! If I am to be imprisoned in Laplace, then kill me here!” (Alice)

Alice struggled, but because she was fixed with a belt to Alma, she couldn’t move at all.

“Whoa. It’s dangerous to thrash around on a horse.” (Alma)

Alma turned around, wrapping her hand around Alice and tightening with just her right hand.

“Alma! They’re chasing us!” (Martina)

When Martina’s voice came, Alma looked back and saw dust rising from three horses in the distance.

“Oh dear. They caught up already.” (Alma)

Alma said that, tightening Alice’s belt even further, and prepared for battle.

The three horses got close, stopping just a few dozen steps away. The person who stepped forward was Yuna.

“….Alma-sama. What is the meaning of this?” (Yuna)

Yuna’s tone was polite, but there was killing intent emanating from her entire body.

“It’s an order from Casablanca-sama. After all, we captured a princess. It’s a waste to return her just for some commoners in exchange, don’t you think?” (Alma)

“….Please return Princess Alice.” (Yuna)

Alma made an exasperated gesture after hearing Yuna immediately ask for Alice’s return.

“Sigh. So, you’re the one to say that first? How heartless. I killed your subordinates, you know?” (Alma)

At those words, every hair on Yuna’s body stood on end.

Her face, usually expressionless, was now brimming with murderous intent. Though Yuna’s face remained a poker face, a dreadful aura of rage poured from her entire body.

“….Of course. I hate you so much, I want to carve you to pieces. But, I must fulfill the mission given to me. Now, return the princess.” (Yuna)

“Refused.” (Alma)

Alma immediately replied, and with that, Yuna, Yulia, and Kanna drew their swords.

In response, Martina nocked her bow.

“Even with the princess here, it’s still 3 vs 2. Looks like I should have killed Kanna too.” (Alma)

“….” (Kanna)

Alma, who had been observing the confrontation closely, smiled at Kanna after their eyes met. Kanna, who had been staying in the same room under surveillance, had been put to sleep by a sleeping drug due to the bond they’d formed. She had not been killed. Kanna was trembling, her face pale, in a state of complete panic.

“Martina. Hold Yuna off with arrows. In the meantime, take down Yulia.” (Alma)

“Understood. What about Kanna?” (Martina)

“She’s no help. We can deal with her later.” (Alma)

Alma briefly coordinated with Martina.

“Your Highness. Please stay hidden behind me.” (Alma)

Alma warned Alice on her back, then spurred the horse to charge, but just then…

*Boom boom boom boom boom boom boom*

A tremendous earthquake-like sound reverberated.
