Long Day (6): Bianca’s Feelings

Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

In the clubroom, where we explained the situation to Saxon, Roy-kun, and Bianca, all eyes turned to Bianca. She wore an unusual expression, one of distress, as if she were about to cry. Just as I was about to say something out of concern, Bianca squeezed out her words.

“I… can’t decide.” (Bianca)

We all fell silent, waiting for her next words.

“As you all know, my family, the Hills Household, has been a family of soldiers for generations. We’re not quite nobles, but we’re also not commoners. Our family is unique. Our family creed is, ‘Protect the orders of your superior, guard the name of the princess’. The current head of nation is not Follett-sama. If that’s the case, then I can’t cooperate with you.” (Bianca)

She trailed off, wiping the corners of her eyes with her fingers.

“Bianca, you don’t need to push yourself, degozaru.” (Hana)

Bianca shook her head and continued.

“I like Zarad-sensei too. If what Lux is saying is true, I want to help. But… doing so would mean denying my family. So… I can’t answer.” (Bianca)

“Bianca…” (Sonia)

Sonia approached Bianca and gently embraced her. Bianca’s shoulders were trembling.

“I’m sorry. I wasn’t considerate enough.” (Saxon)

“No, I didn’t expect to feel this way either… I’m sorry. But as I promised at the start, I won’t tell anyone about this. I’ll absolutely keep that promise.” (Bianca)

“Yeah. I trust you.” (Saxon)

After that, Bianca left the clubroom, and silence reigned for a while.

“Damn it.” (Saxon)

“It can’t be helped. This wasn’t something anyone could have predicted.” (Roy)

Roy-kun comforted Saxon, encouraging him to change his mind.

“That’s true… But now we need to think about what to do next.” (Saxon)

Saxon paused.

Then,

“I need to tell you all (Catrap) something first. Be wary of Gellar.” (Saxon)

“What do you mean?” (Sonia)

In response to Sonia’s question, Saxon replied.

“Maria, I think you’ve noticed, right?” (Saxon)

“Yeah. The problem lies with the Seg Household.” (Maria)

The Seg Household was a notorious noble house that had “bought” Gellar.

“The Seg Household is a vassal of the Deran Household. In other words, Gellar also belongs to the Deran faction.” (Maria)

“But that doesn’t necessarily make Gellar our enemy, does it?” (Lux)

“That’s true. But it doesn’t make him an ally either.” (Saxon)

Logically speaking, Saxon was correct. But still…

“Saxon’s right. I don’t have much connection with Gellar, but this is a situation where we need to draw clear lines.” (Frank)

I also held back my words, not fully convinced emotionally but understanding the logic.

“Leaving Gellar aside, what can we do now?” (Roy)

“Frankly… if you’re not a noble, there’s nothing you can do right now.” (Heinz)

“What do you mean?” (Ratt)

“In short, we don’t have enough information. And only nobles have the means to gather information on this matter. That means it’s up to me, Maria, Saxon, and Roy-kun. For now, we have no choice but to gather information ourselves.” (Heinz)

“That’s right. We’re on the back foot here. We need information.” (Roy)

“But we can’t afford to take our time. The Deran faction’s dogs might strike again at any moment, and we don’t even know what they’re planning or where.” (Saxon)

“That’s true. I’ll do my best to gather as much information as I can.” (Maria)

Maria said, clenching her fists in determination. Saxon looked at her.

“Realistically, your family’s information network is the most reliable. Next is Roy. I don’t have any support from my family. Heinz, what about you?” (Saxon)

“As for me… it’s hard to say. We do have messengers coming and going, but… the distance, and the fact that this involves another country, makes it difficult.” (Heinz)

“I see.” (Saxon)

While the four nobles were deep in discussion, I watched absentmindedly. Sonia leaned in and said.

“Do you think Bianca will be okay?” (Sonia)

“Yeah… I think she’ll be fine. Bianca is strong.” (Lux)

I said, not as a consolation, but because I believed it.

After some time had passed, Heinz suggested.

“Let’s call it a day for now.” (Heinz)

Before we knew it, a lot of time had gone by.

“If we don’t hurry, dinner’s going to be cleared away.” (Ratt)

Ratt-kun said, rubbing his stomach dejectedly.

As everyone left the clubroom, I locked up and was the last to leave the old school building. Just as I did, I felt a tremendous force grip the back of my neck.

“Guh!” (Lux)

A sound escaped my throat. It might have been a voice or just my breath as I was dragged behind the school building. The strength was incredible, and the speed was unnaturally fast.

No one noticed as I was pulled away. When we reached a completely deserted spot, the person who had dragged me revealed themselves right next to my face.

“Hey, Lux. There’s something I want to ask you.” (Lulu)

Seeing the person’s identity, I understood. It was Lulu-san.

Looking at that ferocious smile, I thought to myself that today was definitely the day I would be dragged into.
