Entry into Port

(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)

When Arc and the others headed to the port, it was already in chaos. Two large ships, which only docked once every six months, had arrived.

“Oh, here they come.” (Arc)

The flags bearing the Warden Household crest were fluttering on the ships. The two large ships were from Mikanda. The port was crowded with onlookers who gathered to see the large ships, as well as adventurers hoping for some work.

“Arc-sama!” (Sailor)

As Arc and the others pushed through the crowd to reach the front of the ships, the sailors who had been hanging around the ships rushed over.

“Everyone, thank you for your hard work. Was the voyage alright?” (Arc)

“Yes. We arrived on schedule without any major trouble.” (Hausar)

“Well, even though they are large ships, the waters around here are calm, so it’s nothing we’re not used to.” (Rishu)

The ones who answered Arc’s words of thanks were Hausar and Rishu.

Hausar, the mayor of the Fourth Town, and Rishu, the vice-mayor, had come as the captains of the large ships. Since Hausar was a merchant, Arc could get advice from him about doing business in the Kali Kingdom. Since Rishu was an adventurer, Arc could entrust him with protecting from pirates and overseeing the transportation of the cargo.

Currently, the Fourth Town had no mayor or vice-mayor, since Arc had called them both to the Kali Kingdom. This showed how much Arc was focusing on his business there.

“Arc-sama, what should we do with the cargo?” (Hausar)

“Unloading everything and then follow Hangue’s instructions. Hausar and Rishu, I have something I want to talk to you about.” (Arc)

After quickly issuing instructions to the adventurers and sailors he brought, Arc moved with Hausar and Rishu to a nearby tavern.

“Hausar, what goods did you bring from Mikanda?” (Arc)

“Just as you instructed, Arc-sama. In addition to weapons like swords and spears, this time we brought everything from clothing, food, and carts, to daily necessities. We’ve brought everything that can be bought in Mikanda.” (Hausar)

Hausar explained while handing Arc a set of documents.

“Got it. Thank you.” (Arc)

“What’s wrong? You don’t look very happy.” (Rishu)

Rishu noticed Arc’s gloomy expression.

“Ah, actually…” (Arc)

Arc explained the situation.

The goods from Mikanda had been selling very well. Since they had taken customers away, the local Merchant Guild had started targeting them. Eventually, after clashing with the Merchant Guild, they had been harassed by having their goods set on fire.

“That’s why it’s good that you two arrived with new goods.” (Arc)

“I see. With this, we can reopen the store safely.” (Rishu)

Rishu sipped his coffee as if the matter was already settled.

Hausar,  who was sitting next to her, still wore a worried expression, just like Arc.

“But if the new goods get burned…” (Hausar)

What Hausar worried about was exactly what led Arc to summon them.

“Yeah. That’s why I need to ask you adventurers for help.” (Arc)

As the topic suddenly turned toward him, Rishu coughed loudly.

Had the coffee gone down the wrong pipe?

“…I had a feeling. What is it?” (Rishu)

“How many adventurers did you bring?” (Arc)

“About 30. Since we needed a lot of adventurers to unload and transport the cargo, I brought quite a number.” (Rishu)

“With 30 people, that works perfectly. Would you mind staying here for a while as guards?” (Arc)

Rishu looked at him with an expression that said, “I knew this was coming”.

“I was really planning to go back to Mikanda…” (Rishu)

Rishu fiddled with the wood grain on the table with her fingers, looking uncomfortable. She probably felt like she was always being used by Arc, almost like a handyman. In truth, Rishu was extremely capable, making her very useful.

“Please, I’m counting on you.” (Arc)

When Arc bowed his head, Rishu simply nodded.

“Alright. Lately, there have been fewer adventurer jobs compared to harvest season anyway.” (Rishu)

“Thank you.” (Arc)

Just with a bow of the head, she had helped with everything from the development of the Fourth Town to being appointed mayor. Staying in the Kali Kingdom for a while to act as a guard was nothing for her.
